With PS4pro, PC gaming is getting much less attractive.
Remember this is all my opinion, and you have to keep in mind that I take into account the COST of PC gaming.
After seeing the incredible IQ Horizon provides on PS4pro, my first thought was "no way I can achieve that on PC without spending 2000€ or more "
I have a 980ti, 4790K, 16 GB RAM machine and I feel even that won't be enough to get the clean IQ we saw yesterday :
- My rig can't handle 4k without sacrificing all the graphical goodies
- Some games run like shit and require so much better hardware for similar image quality ( I'm looking at YOU Deus Ex MD). Speaking of Deus Ex, seeing they've got a Pro mode coming made me mad when I thought about how it ran like shit on many PCs
- Prices have gone full retard , playing properly on 4K requires a 1080 AT LEAST or a Titan X which is ridiculously expensive
- Console gaming at 30 fps is FINE, but I NEVER managed to achieve console 30 fps smoothness with my PC on my 1080p Panasonic Plasma.
30 fps doesn't bother me and it's a compromise I am willing to do, but I can't achieve it, locking at 30 fps makes the game run like shit and I've tried it all ( RTSS, Half refresh vsync which doesn't really work anymore ...)
I don't wanna spend 1500€ more to be able to play at 4k and finally get good IQ on games (no aliasing first and foremost)
And yes I'm aware that I can get stuff like PCSS and HBAO+ that we won't get anytime soon on consoles but remember that I'm making a compromise between the price and the resulting output. I'm not rich.
With the regular PS4, PC was just the better option, now I'm not sure.

They never sayed it would do native 4k. Just like the news that with tomb raider you could chose between: 30fps 4k 60fps 1080p medium 30 fps 1080p ultra.
Its a decent gaming rig, it wont blow anything away.

Finally, the initial cost of pc is higher. Probably 2x or 3x the cost of a ps4 pro. But after a few years you already start saving money by not paying for psn plus and expensive games.
Games on pc get released at 30-45 usd (gmg, nuuvem, g2a, even steam sometimes) instead of the 60 dollars they ask on ps. Finally after 2 or 3 months they get heavily discounted. You dont see those discounts on psn way after 1 year of release. Even the psn plus offers are not that cheap compared to pc offers.
