it's mirror's edge sequel done right with dead rising mixed in
and expansions is even better
also kick!
Sup Forums here. I didn't play but it's shit. I give it 3/10.
wasted potential
Great game, grappling hook is OP
They were pretty crafty with switching to a complete edition so soon and keeping the release msrp but I'll still be buying it for ten bucks.
I went in expecting nothing because Muh zombies.
Really good game I enjoyed it a lot. Actuslly one of the best games this gen imo
Probably the only open-world sandbox in recent memory that I genuinelly enjoyed for tens of hours. Has a ton of issues without a doubt, starting with a really stupid story and ending in a lack of variety in weapons, but it's still a surprisingly well realized game with ton of fun to be had.
That said, it's still a open-world sanbox zombie game, don't expect ANYTHING revolutionary or even original. It's just that the movement and the combat are actually fun.
I never played the expansion, but I mostly heard good stuff about it.
Fun game, movement and combat is satisfying enough. Dropkicks are OP, DLC was good too. My only gripes, You become OP way too fast and there's not much replay value. Very solid first time through, though.
I thought it was pretty shit.
Its a slightly better dead island clone but it's still not that great.
What I didn't like was:
Repetitive micro objectives
Same rpg elements as dead island
Abuseable as shit to become OP, duplicating items everywhere and once you get a good axe then it's easy sailing
The parkour - really badly done, not intuitive in their first person compared to Mirrors Edge and didn't really need to be in the game
Really dumb location and characters, cringe worthy plot and VA (like dead island)
Awful online mode
Really poor trap / safe zone mechanics
What I did like:
Being the zombie shitter was quite fun for a while
The night fast zombies was a really good idea, until you become OP anyway
Honestly I thought it was a 5/10 game and that dead island did it better (but even that was bad)
never forget
youtube.com
I liked it a lot. I wanted to get the platinum trophy on ps4 but there are co-op trophies so fuck my life
game would be so much better without slums map and bigger old town map
Is this game worth playing on hard mode for the rewards? Should I just stick to normal?
It's a truly great game. Polacks outdoing themselves as usual. The quality difference between Dead Island to Dying Light and The Witcher 1 to The Witcher 3 is astounding.
It's a shit game, one of the worst zombie games on the market
Literally borderlands style except with worse characters and more repetitive
it's somewhat hard, but enemies become sponges and nights fuck you for real
still you can adapt and become OP again just slower than in normal mode
>qte boss 'fight'
>literally dead island with freerunning
>shit tier forgettable story and characters
Other than that, good fun
I find its only enjoyable on highest difficulty limiting yourself to never jump at all or use free running (except when the game forces you) and to never use any melee weapon other than a short knife, instead focusing on finding and using ammo.
The game actually becomes intense then.
Vanilla though is pretty childish and easy. Clearly targeted at younger kids.
Why would you limit yourself to the godawful gunplay just to have a challenging game instead of installing mods
Because the mods are shit
>Repetitive micro objectives
True, but to be honest, that is a problem with every single open-world sandbox. This one at least had things like the supply runs where were pretty fun.
>Same rpg elements as dead island
A factual lie that makes me wonder if you even played the god-damn game in the first place. If there is one thing Dying Light has done well, it's the character progression, where most upgrades offer quite dramatic changes to the gameplay.
>Abuseable as shit to become OP,
True.
>The parkour - really badly done, not intuitive in their first person compared to Mirrors Edge and didn't really need to be in the game
This is just plain fucking idiotic.
The parkour was pretty damn great, actually required a little more focus and effort than in Mirror's Edge but was equally as fluid once you got the hand of it. And was what the ENTIRE FUCKING GAME was really about. Traversing the terrain was more important than the combat, actually. It also did something either of Mirror's Edge games could not do: Create a decent open sandbox environment in which to parkour. It's still very much the only game that succeeded in doing that in first person.
>Really dumb location and characters, cringe worthy plot and VA (like dead island)
Locations were great, characters and story were terrible. There were some good ideas, now and then, but mostly they were rubbish. The whole story aspect of it except for the environments was awful.
>Really poor trap / safe zone mechanics
Both were actually adequate, not bad. Nothing to write home about, nothing to really complain about either.
its not exactly a masterpiece but parkour + zombies is a pretty fun formula
>>also kick!
>mfw one of the skill make you squish the head of every zombie on the ground
>can't kick them repeatedly anymore when they fall, you'll kill them in one hit automatically
Pretty fun, just don't level up a lot because by the mid game I felt pretty much unstoppable. Also don't even use chemflares if you do the quest, they completely break the game making nighttime piss easy.
you have to hold the button and aim at their head to do that
Your opinions are factually wrong. The game is shit.
Yeah. I see the powerful arguments you provided. Jesus, why do you cretins even post?
If I remember correctly you don't have to hold the button, it work just by aiming at the head.
Maybe it was patched.
you always had to hold it, if the animation started you could cancel it as well
how is it anything like borderlands other than having coop and being first person
>It's shit tier and only further crowds the shit unimaginative horror / zombie genre
Great. I did not try the expansion yet. Might do that "soon"
>Shut up boohoo someone disagrees with you
Same skill system, same bullet sponge enemies, same identical weapons with massively varying stats.
You have to get really fucking ugly safari print two handed European swords to do serious damage.
Game was a 3/10 for kids
>Tripfag
>Minecraft
>Autist
Pick all three. Opinion disregarded.
Looking at the mechanics the gameplay could have been a lot more technical if it was just a little bit different. I like the inclusion of special moves and such so that's a good thing.
>someone disagrees with you
More specifically, lies. One example for illustration:
>Same rpg elements as dead island
Unless you can actually show me where does Dead Island feature skill unlocking vaulting, dodges, wall running and a fucking grappling hooks, you are a pure, absolute cunt, defending a person who factually lies on the internet because he is bitter and needs to justify his bitterness.
Except Dying Light focuses on movement, parkour and melee combat, while Borderlands focuses on basic gunplay?
Also: the enemies aren't bullets spongy, on anything but the highest difficulty you can head-shot absolute majority of enemies in one hit from any of the side-arms, but side arms are fairly uncommon to come across and attract zombies.
And the melee is really absolutely like nothing Borderlands features.
So really, what they have in common is the loot system, first person perspective and coop, which hover in Dying light is optional and secondary, with no classes and class-based synergy, while in Borderlands the game was designed primarily for that.
>Game was a 3/10 for kids
You really like saying that, for some reason...
Pleasant surprise, expected another boring open world game with zombies but I had fun\
also I highly recommend to mod the weapon durability
QTE boss fight is just the final boss. all other bosses had proper boss fights, specilly the final boss of the DLC
Leave shill
Great game - had so much fun both single and co-op - also hunting down all the small easter eggs and special weapons.
True the mods are so god damn useless that seems pointless they even added add that feature
I loved it. It's basically a Dead Island done right, only real gripes are how slow first hours of the game are and how damage spongy zombies get by the end of the game.
Kicking is a huge plus too, everyone who played DMoMM should know that.
Main story was kinda stupid, but protag was really nicely voiced and side stories were great. "To anyone who can hear" me quest was legit great.
Again, the real question is: why do you even post here? Are (You)'s really that important to you?
Yeah I agree - playing it on Hard or Nightmare definitely adds to the tension; would really recommend doing that if anyone are going for a second run.
The more you progress the more awesome you become. And if you play on Hard or Nightmare you are more likely to get the tier weapons. Or you could hunt down down, there's a lot of cool easter eggs and hidden weapons.
Anyone played the "I am a legion" mod? I've heard a lot of good stuff, enough to warrant a new playthrough, allegedly, but I'd like some second opinions on it. Also, is it compatible with Following and Enhanced Edition?
I've been watching the developers YouTube videos. Seems VERY hard - not sure if I can handle viral spawns every time i get spottet.
Best zombie game.
Hands down.
>not sure if I can handle viral spawns every time i get spottet.
The fuck?
OK, that does not sound good. I could do with some additional challenge, this sounds like a serious overkill and something that can only end up frustrating.
Yeah also loved the skill tree - really enjoyed each time i levelled up i felt like i achieved something
WWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL that's your opinion.
If you haven't played any others at all sure
Dropkick simulator.
But it is a great game. It's sorta like Mirror's Edge mixed with Dead Island.
It was one of the best games of 2015. Really surprised it wasn't more popular. Really fun and had a lot of focus on actual gameplay. There was multiplayer but it made the game too easy. Also the story was a really good premise but it was executed poorly and the "bad guy" was definitely the worst written in history. Still a great game though and I liked Kyle as a character.
No not virals sorry; runners - but they are spawning fast enough on Nightmare difficulty already.
But he wanted to make the mod like the movie. So you are to avoid being seen and run through your destinations as fast as possible using the obstacles on your way to slow the followers down.
--
One things that destroyed the tension for me was that you at night could camp in a house and kill virals, even though it wasn't a safe house. As long as it has a door - no zombie can get through. They should be able to break that shit down if it's night and you haven taken over the safe-house :D
Characters and story is shit. Other than that, good.
If you want a good coop run download the I AM LEGION mod, there's a single player and coop version
>only runners
>they actually look for you not just wander around
>they spawn like ants
and other shit
there mod comes with different difficulties if you cant handle it
