if they were planning one, they'd probably have announced it with the rest of their new consoles lineup.
Since stocks seem to be running low in some region, the next news will probably be discontinuation in some regions.
You missed the thing yesterday dweebenheimer. No mention of Vita or successor at all.
News of a revised Vita would be more likely at be revealed at TGS (Which is next week), since it's completely dead in the West.
Here is my collection.
If there are games you want to play on it and the library resonates with you then yes. I would wait until after TGS though at the very least to see if Sony dose have a successor console in the works, I doubt it though. Keep in mind memory is pretty expensive
...
There's no Ps Trinity or any other handleld coming from Sony, PSP sold 80 million but nobody bought a single game for it, vita sold 15 million which is an abomination despite having a higher attach rate. Another handleld is absurd.
It's worth buying now while HENkaku is still available.
Yeah this.
Wasn't the Vita 2000 and Vita TV both announced at TGS?
TGS is in like a week. Just wait it out.
Where's dungeon travelers 2 you faggot?
waiting on a price drop that shit is still like $50 last time I checked
Playstation Asia didn't mention the Vita at all. Not even after their superior PS4 pro reveal. Not even when they broke into groups for regional deals.
Buy one of the remaining ones and you can play 5 years of games for free. They put out a new firmware and diehard fanboys say piracy is stopped, but a little over a month ago piracy was unfathomable and people were mocking the exploit now used for free games.
I literally bought it for $20 at game stop
It had a good run.
But now with piracy, I doubt we'd even get the latest Ys, Lacrimosa of Dana localized, much less in physical.
I'd foresee a PS4 only localization.
Also, say goodbye to any possibility of Digimon World: Next Order getting localized.
Shit's basically the PSP all over again.
Sucks being an EOP I guess.
Shame really, would've prefered an LE like Memories of Celceta. Shit was fucking neat.
>receive used Vita
>connect to power
>it doesn't turn on

I say wait until after tokyo game show before buying one in case they announce a new one there.
Pretty sure the PSTV was, I remember seeing a bunch of articles saying they were unsure if we were gonna get it in the west at all.
what model, and what does the power supply look like? Is the power light turning on?
sony themselves said that they dont want to make a new one.
It's a 1000, the PS logo is orange but never blinked
if the battery is drained it has to charge for like 15 minutes
Ew why don't you just download your vita games? How do you travel with all those games?
Yeah I just got the console, I'll wait for a bit, the console is in pretty good condition otherwise.
It's not an official power supply though, I hope this won't cause problems later.
>going digital when the memory cards are such a scam
The cartridges themselves are pretty small you know. Even if you didn't have a carrying case for them you could probably fit all those games in a standard sized wallet if you wanted to.
>vita isn't for poor fagging around.
Buy memory card, never have to change games.
Pay for AT&T service, can literally remote play ps4 anywhere.
STEP YOUR FUCKIN MONEY UP BRO.
None of these are worth buying the system for.
You can pirate Vita games and there is still -nothing- good to play.
Vita could be a decent PSP replacement if the emulation scene gets better though
I wont support that type of jewery.
Once an ePS1 and ePSP hack comes to HENkaku it will be. Or you could just be a 3.51fag.
I own one and like it but it's a garbage system with almost no good exclusive games. It's a port machine and hopefully it will become a good emulation machine.
When that happens I'll probably finally get a bigger memory card.
Sony obviously shifted production from Vita to the PS4 Slim/Pro in order to have stock ready for when those get released
Squeenix and a few other devs still have special edition Vita models set to be released later so theres no way its been discontinued yet
>You can pirate Vita games
Wait, since when?
since Vitamin came out. It has spotty compatibility though, about 50% with chink semen
Guys, what happen to the firmware if I do a system restore? Will it force me to update to the latest one?
It was at the end of July, an exploit called Henkaku came out allowing running homebrew (and it turns out a lot more) but the only Sup Forums response was "It's fucking nothing" and adding henkaku to their filter.
Probably just wait one week until after TGS
nope
WoFF looks nice if you don't have a PS4
gematsu.com
All system restore does is delete all the data. It keeps whatever firmware you were on.
Thanks guys, it work and it's on 3.52
Fuck yes
Now pick your poison, PSP/PS1 piracy or Vita piracy?
The Vita is dead because Sony didn't bother putting good games on it. They'd have to be out of their minds to develop a new handheld console when that wouldn't address any of the issues with the previous one. The Vita itself is a fine machine; one of the best handhelds I've ever owned. It'd be much easier to license games than it would to create brand new hardware. Literally all they would have to do is get Monster Hunter again.
I don't know how Sony can stop their handheld users from running to phone games
Bump
>implying the total weebs that buy those kinds of games wouldn't buy them if they came to the west
>implying any producer/localizer expects more than 100.000 sales in the west/total when it comes to the vita
yeah, this handheld generation is pretty shit. I literally only play Pokémon on my 3DS and PSP games on my Vita.
Vita games this year before piracy were selling in the high thousands to low ten thousands in the west. It doesn't take much of a shift from people that were previous buyers to switch over to downloading games for free for the localizations to stop on Vita. They'll just shift to PS4 only.
Those good goys have already updated to 3.61.
user please. Saying that all the previous buyers have updated to 3.61 to continue buying games is just as naive as saying the vast majority of the over 100,000 henkaku installers aren't in it for the piracy.
How many of those installers used HENkaku before Vitamin was released?
Around 30,000, but they knew it was a kernal hack and that means if you wait it out you get piracy. They certainly weren't using Henkaku for the emulators that were performing worse than PSP's emulators.
>They certainly weren't using Henkaku for the emulators that were performing worse than PSP's emulators.
Somebody hasn't been following the nightlies.
If the emulators are good now then that came after vitamin released.
Let's be real here. Nobody is buying an under powered (444Mhz quad core) handheld like the Vita for emulation. It has super expensive proprietary memory with it too and no direct file access and nothing but the Vita uses. If you cared about just emulators, you can use your phone, your computer, your old PSP, a chinese android handheld with a 2Ghz processor, a 3ds, or a new 3ds for a better processor. The 3ds is an even better choice since it uses SD cards, or micro for the new one, and it's only a 240p screen which is perfect for those old games that only output at 240p. Also the 3ds is really cheap, especially used.
PSP has been hacked to high heaven and has great PC and android emulators for it. If you want to to play pirated PSP games then you'd already have good alternatives. That's why the people that are using their Vita for henkaku are doing it for piracy AND emulators. Not just for emulators.
It was.
Not only that, but they didn't even showcase like, half the games on the PS4 for the NA conference since they knew it wouldn't appeal to them.
Seriously, go onto youtube and compare. The Asia Conference has twice as many games listed with trailers in the clip reel too
>Including Vita titles
I'd hold off on getting a Vita right now since apparently the new handheld will be backwards compatible with digital and physical Vita games.
The new 3DS doesn't compare to the Vita as an emulation device. At least, it won't once an ePS1 and ePSP hack surfaces.
>inb4 muh megahertz myth.
Still the only way to get your botes on the go aside from Android.
Adding to this, Vita is ARM based which is pretty much what any new handheld would use. So at the very least if a new handheld exists it'd be backwards compatible with digital Vita games.
Vita also has the PSP MIPS hardware inside so I would expect any Vita successor wouldn't include that. So don't expect PSP and PS1 backwards compatibility, unless if they bother to do it via software instead of hardware.
Does the attach rate includes titles from psn plus? Because everyone I know who has a ps vita has literally 3 or 4 titles. Most of the times just Uncharted, GR and KZ.
PS1 back compat could be done in emulation definitely.
>retards thinking there will be a new sony handheld
fuck off already
>list is formatted so Mighty No 9 ends up right under the picture, becoming the first thing someone scrolling by might see
goofed up good son
>Wanting ninty to own a monopoly
Even if you don't like Sony handhelds, they're healthy to the handheld market.
>people thinking there will be a new nintendo handheld
3ds just got a new pokemon, that shit will stay alive for like 3 more years
Speaking of PSP, how much did Sony profits from those? Selling 80 million means jack shit if the profit margin is very small.
>>Wanting ninty to own a monopoly
>implying they already dont
irrelevant side note; why does every anti Nintendo shitposter call Nintendo Ninty?
>why does every anti Nintendo shitposter call Nintendo Ninty?
user, the nintendo general on /vg/ is literally called /nintygen/
If you know any friends with Atelier or Nep games then ask them how many games they have on it. Chances are it's a lot more than your friends that mostly picked up western stuff.
Oh for sure. They probably could have done PS1 back compat via software with the Vita if they wanted to. I'm just saying don't expect that until it's announced and released. I mean PS4 is finally getting folders 3 years after release.
>/vg/
Thanks for proving my point even further
>an entire general dedicated to nintendo is just full of shitposters who hate the console
well you're not wrong
At least at launch, they were taking a loss on each PSP sold.
I really hope a new one isn't being worked on since I just bought one last night.
But they are the minority. For everyone that plays weeb game (I do) there are 10 that doesnt. Fun fact, Im the weeb in my friend of groups.
At present there is more than enough games to warrant a 200 dollar purchase
Why should you worry about a new one coming out?
Bet you got one for that henkaku/vitamin shit for piracy like most who got theirs recently.
Hope that you at least got it used.
