What's the most satisfying game mechanics

And why is it sniping?

parrying
especially if you see panic in the enemy's face when you do it and get a WHOOOSH sound

>Sniping
>Just sitting around in some hidden corner of the map nursing your K/D
>Contributing nothing to the team
>Satisfying

Way to be a shitter, OP.

I'm not a risk taker. I like to hide in a comfy place and watch the world burn

>not walljumping and/or wallrunning

K style in gunz was pretty great, I liked half stepping or flash stepping or whatever it was called.

Definitely parrying, especially in games where it's not easy or automatic so you're getting attacked relentlessly and all you can do is defend until you nail the parry and the fight turns in your favour.

Remote-detonated bombs are pretty fun too though.

any form of animation canceling. namely the stuff in GunZ

>point and click to win
Holy fuck sniping is a broken mechanic

Spiking in Smash

I like when you see "x was killed"
after you've left a sneaky floor trap

Nah smash is gay

>Sniping.
>Not Bayonet in any FPS.

>gun that can instantly kill, has perfect accuracy, and can shoot across entire maps
Who thought this was a good idea to put into a game?

sniping is shit because typically it's just how good you are, your target's skill is irrelevant. it's unsatisfying to deal with

and yeah having the longest range weapon also do the highest damage is not balanced if you're going to just let anyone use it

Yeah spiking in smash is definitely the best thing ever. Right next to a sweet spot back air with Zelda

Trap systems

Playing the scottish resistance and setting up bombs on every corner where you predict traffic and then leading swaths of enemies into them never gets old. That and blowing people up and having them fly into other bombs.

Seriously, planning things out and having everything going according to plan, in a multiplayer game, is delicious sin.

planet side 2's sniping was pretty fun.

sick airshots

I love a satisfying wallrun.
Spiderman 2 web swinging is the most satisfying mechanic I've ever experienced though, anyone who's played knows what I mean.

You mean piss easy mode ?

disruption, just fucking over someone elses perception or plan
Like radar fuckery or ruining their movement control

I really liked the Bash move in Ori and the Blind Forest. Being able to use enemies' against each other and to your own benefit is usually pretty fun.

drifting

its snowboarding.
because those are the best segments of any game. fight me on it.

Getting a kill from halfway across the map with a trap you forgot you placed. That distant explosion followed by a muffled scream is the most satisfying sound.

2142 titan drop pod kills

Bolt shitters are cancer and you know it

maybe you should stop running in a predictable pattern.

TR snipers are the only real snipers

sniping is so unimaginative
kills with tools or items you're not supposed to attack people with, or inflicting environmental deaths in comp mp games is much better

Yup right here. Parrying or perfect guarding. I think Royal Guard in dmc3 was my first experience with a really good parrying system.

>sniping only exists in FPS multiplayer games
you aren't very bright

I also place my money on traps, booby and otherwise.

In the multiplayer of TLoU, nothing is as satisfying as walking around and placing nailbombs in tall grass or underneath windows or near supply boxes, forgetting about them and then later BOOM.

Same with something like Battlefield, give me the claymore over any other loadout. I love it when people jump or run right into my explosives.

Performing perfect pop shove it or reverse kickflips in good skate boarding games

maybe you should stop being an useless fuck

words

Sniping with green shell is the only acceptable answer

I like dodging complex attack patterns

>not banana
cmon man, we both know green got hit assist

Itano circuses when you lock onto multiple enemies.

Bonus points if the missles fire off in the opposite direction and then streak across the sky towards the enemy.

lmao those times

>is delicious sin.

I been playing Gear Up and mines are by far the most fun way to play the game.

The fun thing about traps is how rewarding they are.

Quick time events

You know what fighting game had the BEST parry mechanic? Soul Calibur fucking 5.

In order to parry, all you have to do is press AND release the block button within 4 frames of an attack. It requires a sort of "flicking" motion on the button, and ensures that you won't get it by just mashing block through every attack. But when you get it right, it negates ALL blockstun, and even allows you to block projectiles and unblockables. It works on virtually any move in the game. Shit, as I recall it even works on grapples. Mastering the Just Guard in SC5 is probably the number 1 separator between good players and great players, because it opens up punish options that simply never existed before.

Too often, fighting games can feel like just a numbers game. You know exactly what moves to punish with what other moves, how much damage you can expect, etc. But Just Guards add just the tiniest layer of unpredictability. Consistent enough that YOU control whether you succeed or fail, but challenging enough that it's still a significant risk every time. Sometimes parrying a move is barely more efficient than sidestepping or blocking normally, but sometimes you parry a move that the enemy was not expecting, and manage to completely flip the match on the spot. It just feels so, so, SO good.

Goddamn I miss SCV. Favorite fighting game of all time. Those cocksuckers at Bamco better be working on an SC6.

aw cmon
well actually some of the ones that are REALLY rare and just turn up out of nowhere and you get it are kinda sweet i guess.

SC is dead user.

it hurts

mmm.. i really hated it in the past but i'll revisit it after reading this
I think it was due to my inexperience
ive since gotten stuck into tekken so maybe i can do it this time

This thing in Killer is dead.

The entire combo system in general too, where you basically start flipping around like a jedi the higher your hit count is. Want more games that do this.

Parrying/dodging in Dark Souls

Detonating explosives while still hiding in stealth action games

Falling from incredible heights into a takedown in Far Cry 3 and 4

Burning down a whole outpost in Far Cry 2

Pulling off a plasma pistol and pistol/BR combo in Halo 1-3, or stickying a banshee/hornet

Nailing helicopters with RPGs in Battlefield

Any and all movement in Titanfall, or using the Kraber effectively

The original God of War had the right idea with QTEs, even though it was still overdone.

QTEs allow the player to do shit that would normally be too complex or arbitrary to be a game mechanic itself. Where is the "rip off the enemy's head" button? How do you break down running down the side of a burning building dodging rockets and laser beams into the existing game mechanics? QTEs are a way to get players involved in those action sequences, rather than just stick it in a cutscene.

SC is never dead. It's just always second-fiddle to Tekken. SC5 was stripped down because they had to release before TTT2 so the two games wouldn't compete. I think they're waiting on SC6 until T7 is released, probably using a small crew to lay the foundation right now and then going full-scale development within a month or two of T7 wrapping up. Their FB page is too active for them to have completely abandoned the IP.

SC5's biggest problem was its rushed development, but the core fighting system is superb. I think they really, really nailed it. The Singleplayer is shit. The story is shit. The roster is a mess. But when you're in a match, one-on-one with a high level player, it's like nothing else. I genuinely believe that SC5 is the best 3D fighting system ever made, bar none. And I fucking love Tekken and DoA.

did I just click on /ck/ by accident or something?

Drifting.

>any kind of melee counter
People shit themselves and you wreck them while laughing
>Placing explosives.
nothing says fuck you other team like strapping 2 or 3 things of C4 onto a car and driving is straight into the heart of the enemy base just to blow yourself up. Bonus points if you dive out first and live
>KO the enemy but don't kill them
Nothing like knocking out another player than forcing them to watch as you ether t-bag them or place and explosive on their unconscious body. Anything to get them hating the moment they wake up.

>draining an enemies health to replenish your own

>watching DoTs kill people

>melee in a FPS

Is that the guy from Train to Busan movie?
Damn I loved him
Now I'm sad

killing a group of enemies with a powerfull area attack.

no-skill scrub

Slow-motion/bullet time combat

>get a half a mile away from enemy base
>fully loaded and silenced sniper rifle
>looking around base and learning their patterns
>find a target alone in the corner of the base
>take aim
>fire
>entire base lights up, knows your exact location and starts sniping you with pistols

>sneaking around enemy territory
>nobody in sight
>get impatient and let out a quick sprint
>everyone is alerted and on your ass

Knife/Fists.
If you dont use fists youre a faggot.
If you dont make fist mechanics youre a developing faggot.
If you add kill moves I hope you get raped by pig monkey men in the woods.

>Eating the cartilage

Fucking mongols.

long jump in Yoshi's island

Maybe if you didn't blob all your units together they wouldn't get pulverized by artillery.

>Not appreciating the chewy texture and sound

It's bed time

Shock rifle combo gibbing some poor sucka

Long range manually guided rockets

>the shitlords who are making this game ditched the f2p option
>tfw we will never see a massive battle between f2p hues, ruskies, and a bunch of other south american people yelling incomprehensible profanities

Seconded
youtu.be/_fCDPpWHlBI

Cyberlegs

>absorbing multiple people secretly and assuming their form just to regain health.
God damn that always felt good in prototype. I wish damage was more lethal in it and basic infantry could track your shit down. There was potential for a really good stealth game there if basic nato rounds actually did something.

>he shitlords who are making this game ditched the f2p option
why
is it a server thing or do they think they can compete with a paid subscription or one time purchase?

Sonic 06?

I don't care if it's overrated or not, there is not a single better feeling than a well executed shotgun
>weighty animation
>booming sound effect
>that split-second of complete immersion where you really feel like you're blasting things to bits

It's great, indeed, let's hope Spider-Man PS4 improve it.

Hit markers

...

There's usually some gross stuff on the leg so I don't think that's a good idea desu.

HNNNNNGGG

>crit has it's own wind up animation

this is what's actually important, getting the crit itself is cool and all but knowing you're going to get a crit and having then getting the crit is way better.

yes, those sections were some of my favorites. Now if only the game it self wasnt a buggy, exploitable piece of shit it wouldve been better.

>all that meat still on the bone

fuck this guy

Fuck that was satisfying, especially getting off several in a row and mashing through a small crowd.
And then the final boss happens
>Hit once or twice
>dodge into mash
>repeat for 30 minutes

Shotguns.

>No gun will ever replicate the feeling of rhythm that pumping your overcompensatingly long boomstick as you kill the enemy team, one shotshell at a time.

Sniping in a game with unrealistically slow bullet velocity and bullet drop. It's stupid, but it makes it that much more satisfying when you compensate for bullet drop and lead the shot perfectly into an enemies head. (or twice into their torso)

ground rocket splash to air rocket kill
