No since they're from another timeline that is a few years older than the one they come to. Lucina technically isn't Chrom's daughter since they're from different timelines.

I did a playthrough with Fred and I think she said she'll get over it and that it was a pointless love.

Actually, I never got around to it. Usually I just used the Tacticians and Manaketes, since they could mostly solo fights themselves and were capable of countering from close or far range.

Hell, I usually didn't even get the chance to use all the first generation characters. I'm certainly not going to use some underleveled character with a poor skill because I wasn't paying attention when entering the stage.

I actually didn't use Lon'qu much at all. I did end up with Panne x Virion a few times, and that seemed to be fairly fitting. Too bad it turns out that Beastbane only works in Taguel form, because I was hoping for an amazing Beastbane Griffon Rider for horse slaying.
