Wow this was actually pretty fucking good

Wow this was actually pretty fucking good.
And I read it that it was made by the team that made the firsts Paper Mario games.
Why did you tell me that it was shit?

I don't think I've seen anyone really criticise the game itself, just it's poor sales.

I skipped it for the Amiibo Faggotry then forgot about it

prolly super cheap know, I'll check it out I guess

everyone criticized the terrible art style and above all the load times at launch

Pretty much these two answer your question. The art style alone kept people away from it. No one actually said anything about the game's quality.

>terrible art style
I don't get it.

Steam owner here, having been in a number of threads about this game, I bet a good 90% of the anons that shat on it never even played it.

CNS is a total gem

It's mostly the cover art that looks awful.

My only criticism with the games are the giant robot fights. They just got worse and worse.
Seriously if the game just ended with Starface it would have been 10x better[/spoiler

>My only criticism with the games are the giant robot fights. They just got worse and worse.
Yeah they're not good, but thankfully they're so short and easy that's not really an issue.

Yeah, they were gimmicky shit. It's depressing as hell when you look up "Codename Steam final boss" and it's a video of that shitty mech fight and every comment is "WOOOOOOW REMEMBER WHEN NINTENDO MADE ACTUAL BOSS FIGHTS?".

Starface is a fucking fantastic final boss and hard as shit. I love bosses that expect you to master everything you've learned up until then.

Maybe they should've included characters that people actually care about instead of boring shitters like fucking Wizard of Oz characters and a cannibal nigger from Moby Dick or whatever.

like who

Interesting people

like?

Ones that aren't from American """""literature"""""

>Tom Sawyer
>Implied Zorro (The Fox)
>Professor from Lovecraft
What else could you possible want

It was a REALLY poor man's xcom

Califia is from Spanish literature
Also can you not give any specific examples? Still really broad

>le poor mans Xcom/Valkyria Chronicles
Try playing the game

Like you user :3

>Graphics almost as bad 3D Pokemon games
>No advertisement
>Overall a watered down experience of better titles
It was never taking off.

>>Overall a watered down experience of better titles

People bitching about the visuals are the kind of people that never actually played it.

It legitimately looked good on 3DS.

Steam was way better than nu-xcom. Xcom barely had any strategy because your enemies just randomly appear out of nowhere forcing you to hide behind corners like a pussy and overwatch everybody. Steam has much better team synergy and more variety of unit types. Xcom only had 4 unit types with some minor customization, but you'll usually go with the most optimal build.

In contrast, Steam's cast have much more unique playing styles with the gameplay being drastically different depending on who you brought along. Steam actually has strategy unlike the Fire Emblem series although Advanced wars is better than both. A shame that it was the waifu fag game with barely any strategy that lived on.

I saw reviewers criticise the game for not having an overhead map so they could see the entire battlefield and they called it bad design because they kept getting surprised by enemies.
That says it all, really.

When it was announced, I was a little disappointed that IS was working on this instead of a new Advance Wars but the setting and gameplay mechanics seemed interesting. I kept on delaying in getting for one reason or another until I saw it was on sale for 25 dollarydoos for a brand new copy.
I honestly regret not buying it at launch because I loved it that fucking much. The cast were all diverse enough in their roles so I really had to think about who was suited to each particular mission, the level design was pretty great the entire way through (although I can understand criticisms of the re-spawning enemies), the story was cheesy but the characters interactions were really well written (Especially Tom Sawyer and John Henry's interactions) and it had a consistent difficulty curve that made every chapter feel fresh.
I feel sad that we most likely won't get a sequel because it has all the hallmarks of a good game which could form the foundations for an amazing sequel.

Basically summed up my thoughts, though I did buy it on release. I played the demo and fucking loved it. Was afraid the rest of the game wouldn't be as good as the demo.

It was better. Way better. Damn good game.

>IS reuses the gameplay ideas
>it's a FE spinoff

Quick claim your favorite character.

I still can't beat the first Oz level, that shit is hard as fuck.

MUSTA HEARD ME CLANKIN' AROUND

Don Quixote would've been godlike.

...

I NEVER WAS VERY GOOD AT selling

It took me four long tries to beat Starface.
My team ended up being The Fox, Tom Sawyer, Tin Man and Henry Fleming on my successful run.
Tin Man and Tom Sawyer had beed killed and I ended up getting the final shot by sacrificing Fleming as bait for Starface to move closer to him to attack and end up right in the line of The Fox's overwatch attack.
What a great fucking way to finish that boss for the first time.

Starface for me was really easy.
I made Fox go behind him and thanks to her special she took him down in like 2 or 3 turns.

>Big tall powerful black woman to satisfy my jungle fever and my attraction to women with big fucking guns.
>Easily the character who makes my dick the hardest in the whole game.
>No fucking porn.
>Barely any fucking porn of the game at all.
The curse of a well-made flop. No sequel and no porn.

She was OP as shit too.

Anyone have the FE characters done in this art? They look damn great.

...

Is there a way to skip enemy turns yet? I played it for a few minutes and I couldn't get past this.

I have this.

STEAM would've been a bigger success had it been an AW spin off like Battalion Wars.

>it sells like hotcakes on brand name alone
And people wonder why people usually don't bank on new IPs

No but you can speed it up.
