>Dawn of War 3
>Space Hulk - Deathwing
Are WH40K games about to be good again?
Dawn of War 3
not sure why you're getting your hopes up with dawn of war 3.
Base building is back, and it doesn't look like a CoH copy paste job?
>terminators doing backflips
>everything looks like plastic.
>Dawn of War 3
>horrible art style
>horrible moba inspired maps and gameplay
>fucking space marine front flipping into an attack
Space Hulk - Deathwing
>yet another L4D clone
No.
cover is gone. instead there's just groups of forcefields conveniently across the map
also, when you buy heavy weapons, the whole squad gets it. 6 space marines armed with plasma guns.
correct me if wrong but i dont even think imperial guard will be in the game at all
>or any other cool faction besides the normie ones
Dawn of War 3 is going to be ass and will get knocked down to $20 before it becomes 10 months old.
Deathwing could legitimately be good depending on the gameplay itself, or it could be horribly generic. The important thing is it has to let me feel like a terminator butchering hordes of xenos with the might of the Emperor.
The fact that it doesn't look like a CoH pastejob is actually a negative, as far as the cover system is concerned. That shit's terrible.
Gameplay consisting of either capturing cover points to use cover (what the fuck) or standing out in the open shooting each other nonstop like autistic bumpkins. Then there are lore-raping changes that were made FOR NO APPARENT REASON, like the continuous lascannons. All they had to do was retain DoW 1's scale but keep the cover system from DoW 2. It would have been spot on.
Deathwing looks sweet though, I'll give you that.
>yet another L4D clone
Killing Floor could also be described as an L4D clone, kysfam
DoW3 does not look very good
looks like they wanted to combine 1&2, when those are totally different styles of games that appeal to different people, so now it caters to no one
>lorefags
Literally shit only weenies care about.
Only weebs would accept terminator backflips and slam dunks.
>IG fags
>Being hyped for Dawn of War 3: Friendship is magic
Dawn of War 3 reminds me of the time I saw Helium on sale and could kill myself for under $20.
>literally shit the only group of people who would even consider buying this game wil lcare about
Said weenies also buy these games, dumbass.
There's also nothing saying you can't simultaneously be a weeb and like W40k lore for what it is, and not abide dumb shit like backflipping terminators.
>not loving the hammer of the emperor
>the only non-cheesey non-gay faction
>not loving heroic charges into the enemy
>not loving holding off lines of immortal death robots with nothing but well trained guardsmen
>not loving watching space marine and eldar bits rain like a monsoon after a good barrage
Get that weebshit the fuck out of here "lore"fag
>the only non-cheesey non-gay faction
The Tau beg to differ
>>everything looks like plastic.
Fitting then.
The main problems is how fucking jellyfull the animations are, and how high the contrast is between colors, to the point of looking like your average mobile game shit instead of keeping the two DoW's art direction
Also "cover"
Posting more just to enjoy your asspain.
>Fitting then
I see you never painted a mini in your life.
still better taste than eldar or chaos fags
>or even most space marine fags these days
...
Tau are cheesy and gay, no-balls.
No? The Tau are the least retarded species in that universe
>Space Hulk - Deathwing
>Co-op story mode
YES, Lets slaughter some xeno scum!!
Calm down there, son. There's no heresy involved here. You wouldn't want to piss the Deathwatch off either.
>no-balls
That only goes for the races they subjugate, you corpse fucker.
The Tau are literally retarded in the brain, being enslaved to the hivemind will of the Ethereals (who might or might not be agents of an Eldar Craftworld)
Individually they're 100% retarded idiots. Only the higher ups are smart and they're pretty idiotic too.
>the cartoony-ass animations that they were showing off
>the knight acting like a fucking anime gundam instead of a hulkin war machine
Literally the cheesiest and gayest. B8
Not talking about the individuals of the species, I'm talking about the species/empire as a concept. All the other races/empires are comic book or manga tier.
>this completely retarded and idiotic race managed to advance their technology an unprecedented amount in a short amount of time
Wew, you imperials are the real retards if anything. Enjoy getting eaten by daemons.
cute
>grimdark 40k
it's literally shit
And it's shit also. What's your point?
The species/empire is retarded gary stu bullshit without the Eldar engineering angle. The Imperium literally stopped by like 10k years earlier and found a bunch of fucking nothing. Now there's a stellar empire with enough technological might and logistics to fight off a (poor man's) crusade. Meanwhile, the Tyranid threat is not a threat to them at all because Farsight's wall is the Tau's plot armor.
>Killing Floor is shit
Opinion disregarded.
>Warmemer
No.
>The Imperium literally stopped by like 10k years earlier and found a bunch of fucking nothing. Now there's a stellar empire with enough technological might and logistics to fight off a (poor man's) crusade.
That's infinitely more plausible/realistic than all the other shit in the WH40K universe. Assuming aliens visited us 2000 years ago, that could be us a few thousand years from now.
>Assuming aliens visited us 2000 years ago
Which goes back to the Tau only really making sense if you accept the Eldar engineering theory.
>Eldar engineering theory
pls explain
I'm not a huge lorefag, I just know the basic premises
during the long warpstorm over tau's home system, eldar might have tinkered with stone age savages and uplifted them to act as blank troops, cause tau's have almost none warp presence (except ethereals)
>Ancient aliens
Please tell me that's just retarded fan fic and not official lore
This pic is inspiring me to possibly load up Dark Crusade and fight the Necron menace. Should I?
it's one of the circulating theories
besides, it's not THAT different from usual 'fight by proxies' eldar fluff
Best expansion.
Use the Skirmish AI mod if you're going to be skirmish-ing.
>Please tell me that's just retarded fan fic
It is. Well it's a fan "theory", but built on absolutely nothing.
Expect to see it posted by the same retards that say stupid shit like "omg guys the tyranids are probably running from something!"
I played it at PAX, it was fun__
I need Chaos, I need it
but in the mean time ill be playing with my boyz
The Tau are also offenders of being "comic or manga tier." they were about to be wiped out from some shoddy crusade and they were only saved through an asspull of the crusade being needed elsewhere. Also the Tau """empire""" is a fucking joke. They occupy a marginal amount of territory on the fringe of the galaxy.
I actually use Titanium these days because they seemed to include AI tweaks along with all the other improvements.
>WH games
>ever be good
For every 1 halfway decent game come 5 shitty ones.
The franchise is fucked either way
this is true. soulstorm was the last good game, followed by retribution, followed by space marine.
>eternal crusade is shit
>a literal chess reskin
>battlefleet gothic is eh
>a cancelled MMO later
deathwing's the last hope
Btw, how is Battlefleet Armanda?
The game is on discount right now, should I get it?
Balance is bad, game is good.
you guys obviously don't understand the marketing strategy for a warhammer game.
Yes, the more interesting races are not the space marines, but that's the point. In order to maximize sales of the product, it must have get as much mainstream appeal as possible.
Accuse me of being a hipster all you want, but it's easier to initially stomach the WH40K universe when you see a giant suit of armor, instead of orkz/tau/eldar/IG/necrons.
Space marines are bland, but that's exactly what makes them appealing to the unwashed masses.
Space marines don't have cockneyed scottish accents driving ramshackle vehicles. Space marines aren't faggoty space elves. Space marines aren't communist weeaboos. They're self-insert power armor humans
Why do you think the 3 races they have are eldar, orkz, and space marines? Because chaos players can still just play marines, eldar appeals to all of the complete fags, and most IG players also tend to be ork players, or at least that's been my experience. People who tend to like one generally like the other.
How well would the human civilization during the Dark Age of Technology fare against races of the 40k era?
a snap of the fingers
and their problems gone
during that time humanity had the most technological advancement imaginable, probably more than the eldar in their prime, or even, dare i say, the great old ones or wahtever they're called
You are completely wrong.
DAoT stuff was good, but not the best. Eldar could create stars and planets, and Necrons had literal time manipulation. Old Ones created the fucking webway, something Dark Age humanity couldn't even come close to doing.
Dark Age stuff isn't on the same level as the Necrons or Eldar at their apex.
not sure if you already saw how bad Dawn of War 3 looked
but you should see it
the thing is, there's a bit of a differnece in the WAY that they were advanced.
necrons and eldar could do large scale things easier. like planets, webways, and so on. but could they match humanity in its creation of artificial life, their computation, their medical science, their agumentation, and so forth?
i don't think so.
they do not and they continue not to.
the iron men were some of the most devastating robots the universe has known.
the mechanicus alone is superior to the eldar in several ways, and they're just a fraction of what was lost from the dark age.
>but could they match humanity in its creation of artificial life, their computation, their medical science, their agumentation, and so forth?
Yes, just look at the tech the dark eldar use.
And the necrons have reality bending technology, they have a fucking magic tablet that can turn stars off at will and they can even manipulate time.
>but could they match humanity in its creation of artificial life
Dark Eldar grow new Eldar by the dozens.
>their computation
Necron's are the absolute best at this - Imotekh wages wars using strategies encompassing entire star systems, because his engrammatic programming is that efficient. As well as the fact that their basic "drones" (canoptek wraiths and spyders) are fully capable of independent and autonomous action. The fact that engrammatic computation can hold an entire individuals mind is an amazing feat, itself.
>their medical science
Necron living metal and reanimation protocols are absolutely the best in the galaxy at keeping soldiers in the fight. Please show me the DAoT medical technology that can bring back a soldier that's been blown into a dozen pieces.
>their agumentation
Space Marines are probably the absolute best augmented soldiers ever, and the Emperor invented them. The process doesn't originate with the DAoT.
Like I said, Dark Age stuff is good, but at no point is it ever shown to be end all, be all.
Teleportation technology originated in the DAoT, and Eldar and Necrons do that better.
Vortex grenades originated in the DAoT, and Eldar do that better (D weapons on wraithguard).
So where does Dark Age technology hold the advantage, here? Not on the large or small scale.
The "Dark Age stuff is the best!" meme needs to end.
I don't think you understand how retarded technology gets when it comes to the necrons, they have ships that eat planets and they have space ghosts in pokeballs that eat suns.
I think it happens often in zero-g space hulks, and with grey knights.
