Did anyone else actually prefer the more modern look of the police station in 1.5? I know the developers thought the old look they were going for was too "bland" but the more modern looking police station to me seemed colder and spookier
Resident Evil 1.5
Agree with you. What happend with that project, anyway, is still in works?.
I definitely did, but at the same time I kinda understand why they made the change tho'.
Overall the 1.5 was going to be a much more straightforward game plot and cast-wise, with not much left for potential sequels, other than viewing the events from the point of unrelated survivors maybe.
Apparently, they don't want to talk about anything to avoid having legal action taken against them
...
I understand why they changed it, but one thing I remember reading is that Shinji Mikami felt the game was "too much like the first game" but in reality the final product probably felt a bit more like the first one in terms of mechanics and general design than the original beta.
Like, you say "we don't want it to feel like the first one" and then you go and basically set the final game in another fucking mansion but call it a "police station"?
I feel like the real reason for the scrap and restart had to do with the need to make the game tie more directly into the first and make sure the series could be more easily continued through sequels. And I guess Mikami just had a Western architecture fetish.
Did 1.5 get a stable release yet?
I remember like a yearor two ago it was almost there.
all potential explanations.
The story of RE1.5 was also very simple compared to the current RE2; Elza and Leon never meet, they are just two separated playable characters. All the problems in the city are literally caused by the leftover zombies and monsters that survived in the woods after RE1, and so on.
I do think that the OG RE2 had more potential gameplay and design wise though. With the things like wearable armor suits that break down with damage and such, there'd been lots of cool stuff to experiment with.
plus, I do dig the cool 90's movie shading and the zombie designs. The German Shepherd K9 zombies were also cool.
There isnt enough material to make an actual game.
1.5 is using some assets as base, and then they will imagine the rest of the game.
Its literally what their own game. Not the actual 1.5.
I played all the different rooms with debug mode and there are not many.
No. "1.5" looked dreadful and they were right to restart it. Whole game is ugly as hell and just nowhere near as interesting.
Spoony mansions are SO cool. It's part of the appeal of RE. The Spensor mansion and the Police Stations are some of my favorite places in video gaming history.
not really, and you're a fucking idiot.
RE2 was terrible and overrated
You're the fucking idiot. RE2 is widely regarded as the best RE game
yeah by mongs with water on their brains. do you slurp up the diarrhea from every "BEST GAME EVAH!!1" Kotaku tells you to?
you're literally sub-IQ level stupid.
you're also a nigger too, btw
Dat high contrast between Leon's red armored vest and blue RPD uniform.
i really like her design over claire's. thats the one thing i wish they would have kept in 2.
You're a bitter loser who never leaves the house. Lmao.
Another thing that was supposed to be different was that Umbrella was supposed to have been shut down following the mansion incident. What's ironic is they probably changed that so they could have more sequels but by RE4, Umbrella Corporation was shut down offscreen anyway.
>plus, I do dig the cool 90's movie shading and the zombie designs.
I kinda feel like the with a little bit of modification on the textures, the original setting could have been even more terrifying. Dim florescent lights, gray walls with blood splatter from and pools of blood and lower polygon count on the zombies so they could fit more on the screen and you gotta grates to keep them locked in so they don't swarm you.
I love the final product but a more Neo-Tokyo looking Raccoon City would have been my choice.
>Lmao

Sick burn kid! You really showed him!
>I love the final product but a more Neo-Tokyo looking Raccoon City would have been my choice.
Racoon City was such a disappointment in Nemesis. The majority of the city was tiny alleyways
HelloooooooooooooooooooooooooooReddit!
Stop.
This is the only loss. Beta Claire actually had a skintight motorcycle outfit. Her ass would've been more glorious with it. Bummed it wasn't one of her unlockables.
One thing I liked about Nemesis over RE2 was the fact that there was more exploration of the city with left overs from the carnage of the initial stages of the outbreak.
I remember how pissed we were back in the day when RE2 came out and my brother and I were excited to explore a zombie infested city just to be stuck in a police station after exploring the city for all of five minutes.
One thing that sucks about Nemesis though is that really you only are in the small downtown area with streets so fucking narrow it's a wonder how anyone parked in that God forsaken town
>waaaaah waaaaaaaah stop making me look like a sub-IQ redditor! waaaaah waaaaaaaaah! mods!
Maybe in the remake they'll add an Elza Walker outfit.
>What's ironic is they probably changed that so they could have more sequels but by RE4, Umbrella Corporation was shut down offscreen anyway.
>Ironic
>that they ended up shutting down anyway
>8 years later
Okay.
Elza Walker never did appear or even get a passing mention in any other Resident Evil game.
>missing the point
the entire point of not just shutting down umbrella inbetween RE1 & RE2 like in the original game was so Umbrella could continue being a big bad for the heroes of Resident Evil to fight. But ultimately, we never got that pay off of taking down Umbrella for good and instead we get some shit at the beginning of 4 where they shut down due to criminal investigations and stock market shit
God save us all.
Don't ever reply to me again you fucking asshole and I mean it.
It made more sense for a 100k inhabitants town to have an old place as police headquarters, like the old NYPD building.
They literally copied Alien 4 where Weyland and Jewtani are bought by Walmart, off-screen gay payoff.
but what if it's actually good?
Because she's literally proto Claire. The only thing different between her and Claire is that they made Claire a red haired Redfield
You're only doing it to yourself. I wasn't the first user you flagged as reddit.
But Rev 2 was pretty fun

Personality wise they're supposed to be the same, design wise they seem pretty different. Aside from the red hair, the fact Claire looks more like an American biker/cruiser while Elza is more European/speedster. Their backstory seems different too, mostly because Claire's was built around her looking for Chris and that brought her to Raccoon City while Raccoon City was Elza's home and she was attending their university. I mean there's not enough for two fully fleshed out characters, but they seem distinctly different.
>user never said he reported
>yet user has implied the implications
Mods, tear down this thread
It'd be hilarious if they include an Elza character in REmake 2.
Honestly, I kinda wouldn't mind seeing them just go all out and making REmake 2 some weird hybrid of 1.5, 2 & 3
>Liv Tyler was one of the models whom Elza was initially based on.
>Likewise with Alicia Silverstone.
Wonder if that means Claire is also supposed to look like Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone? Kinda looked like Neve Campbell in the rail shooter games.
