You might just be doing it slow. Your execution is bad. Continue practicing but get a stick if you feel like you'll stick with this genre of games for awhile. I know I will since I wanna go to locals. Too bad there are more smash fags around here than any other traditional fighter.
It's fun and feels good to use muscles in your hand you don't normally use.
if youre having issues just do Down Forward Down for SRK. itll still register
also if you do get a fight stick youll have to relearn how to play all over again. just use whatever is most comfortable
I'm not planning on going pro, yet. Just maybe a bit of online warrior-ing with my favorite low tier character.
This sounds helpful. I just hope I can get the execution down.
Is KOF14 coming to PC?
I like SF5 but the game needs to be fixed first, and no fun characters IMO.
GG is 2anime for me.
Tap forward twice.
My suggestion for pad inputs is using the middle of your thumb rather than the tip. The joint that connects the two parts of your thumb, that part is the thing that touches the dpad. I'm away from my anatomy textbook so I forgot the proper name. Anyways, that's what I usually do when I play pad.
I'm a hitbox faggot because it's easier to pick up with stick. The only real hurdle with it is that jump is on the bottom. Once you get past that, everything aside from true 360's is cake. But do you of course, what matters most is comfort.
I couldn't play a fighting game without a stick at this point. If you have the money, I would definitely recommend getting a good one. Otherwise just really make sure that you are ending the combo down-forward.
If you aren't too hung up about not being able to port your execution skillsets over to other games that register input buffers differently, or have different levels of strictness to inputs, you could just MASH DAT CORNER like a madman to get your shoryuken.
When the game reads 632636236326362362362636263, lightpunch, it gives you a shoryuken over a fireball every time. The only actual execution needed anymore is timing the lightpunch for the shoryuken cancel/link you are going for.
>I'm not planning on going pro, yet.
I'm not saying that you should get it if you wanna go pro. I'm saying that you definetely should get it if you are going to get into other fighting games because the genre is had many different titles that offer different things. Many of the older games are still played too and those work fine on stick. Once you get that far you might even check out classic arcade games. Those work great with stick.
All this advice is really good, I'll be sure to look into it. I gotta go to sleep, though, so you guys have fun without me, alright?
Pick up than*
fuck you, we aren't your friends.
sweet dreams
Enjoy the curve down loser.
I've never understood the Dragon Punch meme.
It was difficult to learn as a completely novice in SFII because input timing was the tightest of the series but wasn't too bad. Every subsequent installment feels like they've made it easier. I just do a Hadoken but hit forward first and it always has worked for me. Practice more anonymous.
Also if you think that's hard try Gief's 720's without buffering.
Looking forward to the update including working stats so the game can finally tell me how shit I am.
Looking forward to bullying your anus online bronze shitter.
>cant do a simple forward,down,forward motion
i dont think its the controller
You're just bad at the game. Lots of top level players use controllers. What's your fucking excuse? You really bought into the meme that you're going to become 700% better overnight just for buying a fight stick? fuck off kid, you're bitch meat.
Try me, faggot. I'm Super Gold.
Don't look to Sup Forums for advice, nothing constructive ever comes from here. Just mindless banter from a bunch of chimpanzees.
I like you. Banter is always appreciated by me in a fighting game.
Cuck'd niggers like this don't even read the thread and judge. Go back to your shit tier discord or /fgg/ subhuman german cuckold.
>I-i-i-i-i can't figure out why i'm not getting any better even though i keep doing the same thing over and over instead of asking Sup Forums and getting my shit pushed in until I finally realize, it was me, the fucking idiot, the whole time!
go brack to breddit kid. your moderated safe space and upvotes are waiting for you.
Who are you quoting?
I think he's having some sort of autistic fit.
>I'm used to reddit quotes
Most retards do when they're confused and angry.
>resorting to samefagging on an anonymous somalian basket weaving board
He's quoting you through the unfilitered view of your original post. It's a thankless job but it some anons got the balls to do it.
You're getting confused again my little retard.
He's having a chimp out.
No, I can see through you. I'm not a newfag who doesn't know about the trick to detect samefags.
>can't land Galactica Vanguard clean hit consistently
>Showing a screenshot that basically shows you were samefagging
Was pretending to be retarded part of your plan.
Arcade sticks are meme controllers, senpai. It requires enormous amount of time to get used to one and your execution will still lack. You should get\build a hitbox, it's a better controller and is easier to learn. It's faster and more precise.
That's not really your fault. SFV has made execution so easy that it's gone full circle and become hard again since it literally doesn't do what you press anymore.
Of coursh
Yes.
Well congratulations, you made yourself look retarded. What's the next step of your master plan?
besides that one website that pops up on google, how do i go about obtaining a hitbox?
Building should only be advised when the tools are explicitly stated as being owned.
To samefag some more and then pretend to call myself out for samefagging, but in another thread.
Just order buttons, pcb and use something as a box.
I suggest using a dakimakura as the container for a stick/hitbox.
Are stick players at an advantage in fighting games? Or are most pro fighting game players just used to it?
I have hit the point where I'm too demotivated to even try playing fighting games, but I still wanna give them a shot and improve myself. How do I get that competitive spark back?
generally at an advantage in most games as fight sticks were made for fighting games but it's not impossible for a pad player to win.
It's kind of like the pad vs keyboard/mouse argument for FPS. The pad player could win, but it's easier with a keyboard and mouse
>need a larger range of motion to move the stick, therefore being slower than controller
>advantage
wew
whatever you do, just be sure to have fun
because otherwise what's the point
Try playing with your friends. Honestly, that's what lit my flame again. We got into it, and I started studying up more, trying to improve myself. Competition with your bros reignites the passion
this is utter trash garbage
generally. I can do 720s easier on a pad but charge moves and hitting 3 buttons or more at the same time is much easier for me on a stick
i know you're not playing charge characters in 2016
You're alright, user.
Just enjoy your game, thats what matters first. Worry about getting better later.
>having trouble with a motion that can be done by sm4sh babies who have never even touched a street fighter game
If you can't do that, which is kinda hard considering how much practice and knowledge is required to be decent at the game, try going to locals. They can be pretty fun especially afterwards when people are just playing for the fun of it and getting drunk.
I main Alex in SFV and whenever I go play older games, a lot of characters always seem to have a few charge moves.
Yeah, I try not to take it too seriously. I'm not looking to be a tournament player or anything like that, but just being able to play a little better and doing some cool combos and making fights more interesting.
I've always wanted to go to locals and see what it's like. Although I'm afraid of how bad I'll do and what people will think of me.
I might just do that, then. I lost my fighting game bro recently and don't have anyone to practice with.
It's functional and it's only that matters.
Throw a few hours into training mode, learn at least a few combos so you can feel confident, and not like a n00b pressing random buttons.
stick is nice but srk combos are easily doable on pad.
hit practice mode.
hit it hard.
Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I want to be able to play at least a little competently. So far I've learned basic things like canceling special attacks into others, chaining attacks together, etc. Though I'd be hard pressed to do the 6 or 7 step combos at this point, I don't have the skill to do those really long ones.
Have you played any other fighting games other than SF5?
Honestly, I've played Street Fighter since 2, but never on a competitive level. I mostly did arcade mode, or played with friends. Occasionally I would go online when I got 4, but I got my shit kicked in. I've always known about the very basic shit like hadoukens, shoryukens, etc.
Also played a little bit of Tekken, but fuck me some of combos are ridiculously long. Bloody Roar was pretty fun, I pretty much dominated among my friends. Played Street Fighter Alpha 1-3, Yu Yu Hakusho Final 4 for Super Famicom, and others.
I play pretty casually, but I do make sure to have specials down pat.
I still have this thing lying around, sadly it uses an rs232 connection and I don't think a usb converter would work. Seems like another lifetime I bought this.
Why don't fighting games come with tutorials and manuals?
Who are you playing in V?
Right now I'm playing as Rashid.
Have you been playing since the release date of SF2?
If i had to give any advice, itd be to press any button you want but always end with a mixer.
Sometimes you should do an EX mixer, be it on purpose on or accident.
Since 1991? No. Probably around 1992 or so was when I started. I started getting interested in video games at that age, and SF2 was one of the first I played.
>not having fun learning from losses
You need to do it fast, slowpoke.
>Polygon reviews SFV
you're gonna do the same shit on a stick
fix your inputs nigger
>Hitbox
how degenerate
>MFW I play Guile
>MFW I beat the shit out of people
>MFW people are still sleeping on him
Guile is legit, the same way Necalli is legit but was overlooked early.
What is a mix-up?
>tfw you've only seen someone bust out Guile once
>nobody even knew how to deal with him
being put into a situation where you have to deal with 2+ options and have to make a guess as to which they will go for but your guess only covers one.
High-low mixups are pretty common
>you try and punch your opponent in the face, he blocks
>crouch and hit him in the nuts instead
