This. The ending sequence of MGS2 doesn't make up for the rest of the game being dogshit, I don't care how hard MGS2 fans will tip their fedora about it.
MGS4 was actually better as a game and it was great in the sense that it tied everything up but you won't catch any buttblasted MGS2 baby ever admitting that.
MGS4 was a repetition of MGS2 with some variation by virture of being the end to the series.
MGSV is basically a glorified epilogue to the series, Kojima wishing the player well an saying sorry that he couldn't fulfill all their promises.
I loved MGS4's mechanics and gameplay but there's seriously at LEAST 2 hours of cutscenes for every hour of gameplay. Plus Acts 2-5 are pretty awful outside of the boss fights. Story is awful too. Even if you don't like 2's story 4's is in no way better.

I'd need to replay it to know what you're talking about regarding Acts 3-5. If they involved that truck and motorcycle chase shit then yeah that was highly unnecessary.
However, I liked MGS4's story a lot. Johnny/Meryl and NANOMACHINE memes aside I really appreciated that the story closed up just about every character arc and the fact that it made gratuitous homages to MGS1 because I'm a huge nostalgiafag for that game. Rex vs Ray on Shadow Moses was my favorite part.
Ocelot was fully aware of Zero's plan. Big Boss is the only person Ocelot would never betray. BB awoke way before Venom. You're telling me Big Boss never once asked, say Ocelot, why is there an exact doppelganger of myself?

Act 3 was tailing that guy to the hideout. The motorcycle chase and Raven boss fight.
Act 4 was Shadow Moses revisit, which was great so I don't know why that user said it was shit.
Act 5 was the Submarine which was basically the corridor of button destroying and two boss fights.
And then the game is 4 hours long with the most railroaded set pieces of any MGS. Plus nobody skips the cutscenes the first time around.
I will say though Big Bossing the game to play as an undead corpse that scares enemies shitless was one of my favorite things in any MGS. Much more entertaining than stealth camo or infinite ammo.
Act 4 sucks outside of nostalgia and the boss fights though. Dwarf gekkos are ducking embarrassing.

MGS1 in general, the gameplay has aged terribly so I don't like to play it. However the rest is fucking golden.
MGS2 has highs, and lows. In particular the Emma section is ass [mostly the sniping part]. And the low number of bosses also hurts. Has the most interesting themes in the series.
MGS3 is pretty GOAT up until you plant the C3 in the hanger, then the game for me just fucking drags and goes on and on and on, that I sometimes hesitate replaying it because of it. The only worthwhile thing is fighting the final boss, and the Ocelot cutscene.
