Isn't the PS4 Pro being a bit shit a good thing, if you think about it?

Isn't the PS4 Pro being a bit shit a good thing, if you think about it?

The fact it's barely an improvement over the original PS4 means devs will continue to target the original console and hints they're not trying to switch to iPhone-esque incremental model. They're just trying to lure a chunk of the market (say 25%) into paying for slightly better performance. Who gives a shit?

Scorpio on the other hand sounds like it will be so powerful that it's a wholesale Xbone successor that makes the original console entirely redundant

>console

I play games on every platform like any reasonable person would

>Isn't the PS4 Pro being a bit shit a good thing, if you think about it?
Yes it is.

All PS4 Pro's doing is future proofing against 4KTVs, that's all.

Also, I don't understand why the fuck the 1TB slim exists. Who the fuck is going to buy that when they can buy a 1TB Pro for like $50 more?

Just sell a 500gb Slim for $300 and the 1TB Pro for $400, then later upgrade them to 1TB/2TB

You know this thing is gonna piss off idiot mass market consumers?

They read the "2x more powerful than PS4" headline and thing that their games are gonna look twice as good than on the normal PS4. When this doesn't happen they're gonna literally sperg about it.

Its GPU is literally 2x better than the original console's.

>1.6 Ghz---2.0ghz

If you failed Elementary math, sure.

>1.8 TFLOPS vs 4.2TFLOPS

Yes, its actually more than 2 times better, retard.

Fucking owned.

It's not shit at all for the price.
People were expecting a $600 dollar machine, then look at PS4pro's capabilities and get mad, forgeting that it costs $400 and is released in a couple of months.

Scorpio is still more than a year away and will cost more, of course it will be better. Not that it solves any of MS's problems, power is the least of them.

And as you are kind of getting, Sony is still doing generations, so PS4pro would have parity with PS4 regardless of its power. PS4pro will forever play the same games and never get a single exclusive. Only when the PS5 comes out will you see another jump and a new actual generation where parity is cut.

Microsoft on the other hand is leaving generations behind, optiong instead to do incremental releases and arbitrary cut-offs. They will forever be in the Xbone ecosystem, but maybe when Scorpio2 or 3 comes out they'll cut support for the original Xbone.

Each company is going in different directions

>owned
is this 2006?

>People were expecting a $600 dollar machine

People were expecting it to run PS4 games at 4K

How does the PS4Pro work? Is it a standalone console or do you buy it and then hook it up to a regular PS4 and they work together?

Only high end PCs can run current games at native 4K right now, anyone who expected that a 400~600 dollar box was going to do it is fucking delusional.

So... we agree to agree?
You literally quoted me, and responded by saying the exact same thing with different words.

what was even the point of your post?

standalone.

Runs the same games the PS4 does, but better.

I see, somehow I was imagining the PS4Pro to be something like the 32X for Sega Genesis

It's not even doing that. It has no 4k bluray drive

>Eso runs natively at 4k on ps4 pro
>barely runs at 4k on my 480 with an I5 6600k

I would trade this pc in for a ps4pro if I could

I'll stick with my ps4 rather than the pro. As for scorpio don't know enough about it yet. Probably stick with the one but maybe news and a year may change that.

It still splinters the community, and sets a precedent for mid generation spec bumps that change game performance was previously only common on handhelds (ala DSi, New 3DS), if it doesn't hit 60fps on everything it'll still get railed as not being strong enough, and UHDs... I am not a movie watcher but I think its safe to say a portion of the 4k crazy has to come from being able to watch movies in 4k in the first place, it has the polaris HEVC decoder thats in the Xbone S and yet they decided to use the same Blu-ray drive, that was just a poor choice in my opinion

It has no reason to exist, should have made a PS5 and just let the PS4 Slim play UHD's

any 4K smart TV would also have their own built-in streaming apps so really the PS4 only has it's subpar 4K gaming.

I'm not taking about streaming. It does not have a way to play physical 4k discs currently sold in stores

And if you had any reading comprehension you'd see that he's agreeing with you and adding onto your comment saying "any 4k TV would "ALSO" have built in streaming apps (like one of the selling points for the PS4Pro "muh 4k Netflix and Youtube")."

no i'm just saying in addition to not having 4K blu-ray, a portion of 4K TVs would also have streaming apps built in that would presumably stream in 4K so adding 4K streaming isn't really a must have feature that would convince a person to buy. So they really only get to have their 4K gaming as a selling point and it isn't even going to be that good

So what? In practice, what does that actually mean? A resolution bump and better framerates.

2x really isn't THAT big. It's not a 360/PS3-to-Xbone/PS4 sized bump, which was about 10x

Wait, the hell's going on? Wasn't there a PS4 slim? And now there's an Xbox scorp? Are there three versions of the PS4 console now?

Yes. The slim comes out next week for 300

Scorpio is more than a year away with a release of holidays 2017. We have no pricing info of any kind, it could be like $600+. Seems pretty dumb to compare until we know more. Specs can change a lot.

For me the new ps4 is a power jump and the HDR sounds cool, so I'll buy. I get a ton of use of of my PlayStation.

Not to mention the Xbox library is pretty shit.

The slim is the current ps4 but smaller and cheaper, same as the ps2 slim etc.

The pro is 2.25 times more powerful with 4K upscaling and HDR.

It's clear that Scorpio is going to be way more powerful than both the Xbox One and even the PS4 Pro, effectively enough to put it in a different generation, whereas the new PS4 Pro is just a comparatively minor improvement to grab some extra revenue from richfags.

And no 4k Blu-ray player.

It's still significant. Especially now. Consider how much larger a 2x increase now is compared to back in the day.

There was a time where a 2x increase was an upgrade from 256kb to 512kb. Now it can be an 8gb difference.

In PS3 terms the new PlayStation will be 22.5 times stronger versus 10x for the original ps4.

Nothing is clear. It's a 15 months away. If promises were all true Peter Molyneaux would be beaming videogames into our brains.

But it's not powerful enough for devs to justify making the PS4 Pro their primary platform.

Sony is doing it right by giving it an underwhelming, understated launch. It's not supposed to kill the normal PS4 and Sony has ensured it won't happen.

Fair enough, but Xbox won't have one either until nearly 2018.

If 4K blueray is a big deal within a year, I'll probably have a blueray player for them anyway.

The Xbone S plays 4k Blu-rays now, sony went full retard

I think that's a good thing. Scorpio can be 50 times more powerful but if it leaves the xb1 too far behind and everything is cross platform, it'll never be fully utilized or it will hurt their main install base. Much like poor performing last gen games at the end of the cycle as the new gen took over.

I believe that in 2016 the expression is "savage" my friend.

Maybe they'll cut the original PS4 price so it can be a good thing provided devs don't cut the support and firmware updates on the regular one.

Still the potential of the cloud PS service on PC is far more interesting that this PS4 pro shit.
Sure, just old PS3 games for now but the potential for PC getting PS exclusives albeit later is there.

DELETE ME AND THROW AWAY THE KEY

>Sonyggers unironically think Sony aren't slowly phasing og ps4 out

How delusional can one group be?

It seems pretty clear that Microsoft's intend to make something built with cutting-edge hardware, which is something that Sony has deliberately not done with the PS4 Pro.

Yeah, completely agreed (I'm the OP). I was concerned about Sony dumping the PS4 for the Pro and consoles pretty much become the worst of all worlds.

If they want to create the Xbox Elite Controller of consoles to make some extra money, that's fine with me, as long as it doesn't impact my O.G. PS4 experience in any significant way.
