If arena shooters are so fucking good then why does nobody play them anymore?
Checkmate, arenafags. It's time to stop bringing up your dead genre in EVERY single fucking thread. You're the videogame equivalent of vegans.

People legitimately don't like good games
>why does nobody play them anymore?
casuals
>Halo
This.
Same thing happens with gears. An initial burst of a lot of players, and all the ones that get shit on leave and you're left with a small percent of diehard fans that suck but a majority of really good players, and it becomes less fun in general. So the pop just keeps dwindling.
Why play a hard game when you can play battlefront, battlefield, or cod?
I said good games
Some specific genres just become obsolete over time no matter how fun or popular they were. Like car combat.
Look arena shooters are dead cause they are barebones as fuck, no one cares about MUH SKILL. Prople want fun and variety like Battlefield where you can be flying a plane to running people over with a tank
You mean 'comfy' games?
Comfy in a warzone sure
>Implying Call of Duty isn't an Arena shooter
Compared to an arena with dudes flying by you faster than the bullets
>Quality of the genre is directly related to amount of people playing said genre
I'm guessing FPSs and minecraft ripoffs are all god-tier games
What the fuck is an "arena shooter"? Lmao sounds like some faggot shit t b h.
If hamburgers and cola are so harmful to your health why everyone consume them?
Checkmate vegans and nutrition specialists. Time to ban vegetables and fruits.
Plenty of people play Quake. Obviously not on COD or Moba levels, but they have their fanbases.
i think its more a skill gap. they were popular at one point because it was even grounds, everyone was new at it all the same and there weren't near as many stomps. but now if a player tried to play they will lose and horribly and can expect to continue losing for a long time. with elo enforcement in quake live better players have only gotten fucking BETTER with an easier way to fight tougher opponents. there are still players playing and you can always get a game going in most series but yeah, its high time left a long time ago with rts and fighting
Because arena shooter fags only want to play Quake 3. Anything that deviates from that is dead on arrival. And anything like it is also dead on arrival because people will just go and play Quake 3.
there is at least a small group of people that prefer unreal tourniquet
>food analogy
that isn't really their fault, quake 3 was just done very, very well and completely fills the niche of the genre. and anything that doesn't, already exists and people know they prefer quake 3. like for example, why play reflex if i can just play cpma or warsow or literally any other clone? at least games like unreal tried something different with its weapon mode mechanics but it plays like a party mode version of quake 3 in the end. you cannot make this genre any different, or it isn't in the same genre. you either do it better or you dont and they literally cannot do it better than quake 3, it won, devs need to stop trying to dilute and redistribute the tiny fucking fanbase, there is no money in it
But then there's the question of my Quake 3 and its various implementations still aren't popular. I don't think Quake 3 has very many people playing it these days but I could be wrong.
It wouldn't be Sup Forums without proper food analogy.
i will place my blame on new arena shooters. there weren't a lot of players at any time, even release. there were more obviously but it was never call of duty or halo big. there have been so many clones since quake 3, each taking a small chunk from the playerbase and they are distributed so far apart its nonexistent now. no game has a big playerbase anymore, nobody wants to play by themselves hoping someone joins, it was spread too thin and now its practically crashed. many players migrated to quake live, it was pretty much a free quake 3 which promised more players, and again not everyone left quake 3. and now quake live isn't even free 2 play and is steam exclusive, why would they buy quake live when quake 3 exists? and then the awful server browser in quake 3, how the fuck do people know what servers have people if there are thousands full of bots that count toward playerbase? its a clusterfuck of bad variables and it is dead, with 400 players on at any time worldwide in quake live and probably less in quake 3 but no fucking way to tell. so when i say, "why play this, when i have quake 3", i mean it isn't different enough from quake 3 to make it worth trying, but it isn't even possible to find a game in quake 3, even "popular servers" are dead much of the day like CROM servers
Every game with a gun in it is basically the same game.
