Fuck everything about this. I've bought the first three PlayStation consoles fairly late into their lifecycles and got the PS4 expecting to see the same longevity, only to have an upgrade announced before any real notable titles hit.

I've been holding off on picking up a PS4 simply because I didn't feel it had a library of exclusives large enough to warrant a purchase yet.....and now it's being replaced.

The PS4 is perfectly capable of running games at 1080p 60fps, see MGSV. Developers simply choose to push visuals instead and people who games on consoles simply prefer graphics over frame rate.

PC hardware specs and console hardware specs are not the same though, consoles have the advantage of single spec target optimization that will allow specs to adhere to a much more closer and accurate performance post but largely in terms graphics compared to PC, due to the nature of its fragmented hardware

Consoles purely on a hardware level have been obsolete for years now, the Pro changes little to that fact. Console users typically buy a console for it to be supported for its life cycle, that hasn't changed either, the PS4 Pro was not aimed at existing console users at all.

Besides it's not like I play a fuck ton of games on my ps4, but I do want to play XV and Gravity Rush at at least stables 30 which I know it won't be possible on the current ps4

I don't get what the problem is. They still get the same games at the quality level the hardware was capable of when they bought it.

Why is it so important that other people enjoy better graphics? They bought a device fully aware of its capabilities, nothing changes now that a faster version is out. PC is and was a thing anyway, most games had versions with vastly superior graphics anyway, the only real difference now is that they're not just on PC but there's an in-between on PS4 Pro as well.

As a PC player with a PS3, I may just end up getting one of these if enough exclusives catch my eye. I know it won't have graphics as good as my PC, that much is obvious, but at this point everything should be passable. Maybe devs won't go full retard and will use the extra performance for 1080p/60 with better draw distance and shit, that would help more than 4K on a console that won't even render actual 4K.

Played 10 games easily with over 100 hours for a lot of them. It's called Time Value of Money, and this problem of mid generational leap isn't Sony's fault.

That's the thing about the Scorpio, it's pricing, selling it at a huge loss will be really bad for the Xbox division if people don't buy it but at the same time, keeping prices at a more sustainable level will hugely push potential adopters away due to its naturally high price point. Ultimately I can already see Xbox users all buying the PS4 anyway for one of its many exclusives because quite a few games will resonate with the Xbox demographic, games like Horizon, GOW and Spiderman.

I really cant see how Microsoft will pull this off, the Scorpio may perform better than the Pro but what good is it without exclusives. PC is the most sensible choice if you want performance and Xbox games because it has both and is a largely open platform making it far more preferable over a locked down console.
