So do I really need to buy a whole new Playstation to play XV how it should have been?

So do I really need to buy a whole new Playstation to play XV how it should have been?

It's PC as well, a true elitist will fork out the dosh to play it on a 4k monitor + high end graphics card by your logic.

It will be fine on PS4, smoother on Pro. It will actually play the worst on Xbone if it's coming out on it? Great on Scorpio.

>to play XV how it should have been
wait for PC version if you want that

The screenspace reflection thing even existed back on the 2014 pc footage
Square doesn't give a fuck anymore

Pretty sure they're just hoping to be able to get it out the door in at least a semi working fashion at this point.
Seeing the recent footage vs the Duscae demo I get the impression they've been having really bad internal development issues.

I'll tell you once it's out and we can compare both versions side to side.

PS4 / Xbox One = runs and looks like shit
PS4 Pro = runs and looks like shit with less aliasing
Scorpio = runs and looks okay
PC = runs good and looks decent

PS owners are cucks

>muh scorpio
Yeah, something that doesn't exist and won't even ship for a fucking year is totally in the running. Next you'll tell us that next year's graphics cards will be more powerful then this years! Holy penis what a scoop.

PC is and will always be the best, but the desperation of Xcucks trying to bandwagon on and promote their vaporshit is just disgusting.

All the concole versions will run okay at best
Even the scorpio will still have a bottlneck CPU
No terafloppers in the world will save themm so stop acting like you know shit

It does exist though and they said it's stronger than the PS4 Pro. I don't give a fuck when its coming out.

Running below 30fps with dynamic resolutions is not okay.

Nvidia already has their next silicon going in the lab too, that's the nature of the beast. There's always the next thing around the corner because there's a lot of lead time in debugging, taping out and scaling up silicon fabrication. "When it comes out" and "how much" are ALWAYS the main questions, because at any given point in the consumer market one can wait for more tech advancement or pay more for more. By your logic we might as well compare the scorpio to the PS5 which I'm sure will be a lot more powerful in turn.

Are you one of the carfags who is always spazzing about the latest "concept models" which 99% never actually make it to market in any way too? You sure sound like it.

>at best
Learn to fucking read

The issue is basically that they're still working with an engine that they custom-built for the PS3 (Luminous) and have never used with any other game- at least not one they shipped, anyway. All of their other projects going forward are just using UE4, which further disincentivizes them from putting too much effort into fixing/optimizing Luminous. I'm sure they're using the delay to fix the blatantly terrible shit like in the OP image, but the game is unlikely to ever be as technically solid as one build on a more tested and proven engine (or by a more competent team of engine programmers in general, ie Naughty Dog.)

No one gives a shit about PS4 Pro.
It already looks good enough on Vanilla PS4. No amount of cherrypicked pre-upgrade webms will change that.

That looks fucking terrible you poorfag retard.

t-they upgraded it
Let's ignore that this is from the same video and both look equally shit.

What bothers me about all the mindless shitposting about it on Sup Forums is that it looks perfectly fine for a JRPG. Not cutting edge and with some issues but seems to do the job. What matters in a JRPG is the characters and story first and foremost, with gameplay at least not being actively unbearable, then the world building. If the gameplay is mindblowingly good then great but every serious JRPGfag has gone through at least a few games with very so-so gameplay because they really enjoyed what was going on overall.

As far as the ambience and such, I'd actually argue that sound (including VA these days I guess for big budget titles) and music is at least as important as anything graphics related, and far more timeless. It's one of the key parts that sticks with us going back to the SNES and later in particular. As far as graphics go, art/world design >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> technical merits, the fanciest most polished engine in the world is worthless shit if there isn't the creativity, skill, internal logic, attention to detail and so on to actually paint well with it. Seeing so many people with FF15 focus purely on the engine and shit, by far the absolutely least important part, is disgusting.

FF15 is a game I'm pessimistic about, but not because of anything technical. What I'm worried about is the writing, plot pacing, world and so forth will be poor, or that the gameplay will be so bad that it actively interferes with the former (gameplay that is just generic isn't necessarily a killer problem for a JRPG, but it shouldn't be actively soul sucking). That's the sort of thing that can come out of a disjointed, design-by-committee, goal-shifting project process and that basically is impossible to "fix" short of scrapping the whole thing and starting over, maybe recycling some assets, under somebody very good. Engine shit whatever, that can be patched or a PC version might help. But it only even matters if the underlying game is worth it. THAT is the concerning bit.

It looks great though. You underage grafixfags should fuck off back to modding the latest bethesday monstrosity with photorealistic horsedicks or however you normally spend your time.

It looks like shit for a game that's been in development for 10 years, all the while they posted PC footage that has been heavily downgraded. It's also an AAA WitcherCreed clone more than a JRPG with a budget of over 100 million. It doesn't look fine according to anyone but ignorant drones.

I agree with you on the rest though, from what we've seen the game is a soulless husk of a JRPG.

>It looks great though

Graphics is the only thing they've been talking about for like 2 years since 2014. Non stop high end tech demos and tech demo gameplay and in the end they can't even deliver on that. The dev team even told Tabata that they should make multiple areas with more focus on looking good and story progression. But no Tabata wants huge ass empty fields with nothing but fetch quest because noone would bother to explore them otherwise

Jokes on you, this is from early beta footage!

I mean it has to be, right?

...

It's from the final version of the game.

It still looks bad somehow.

Noctis can not jump that high in the game.

Why you keep posting cherrypicked and outdated pre-upgrade pics? Are you that scared of the improvement the game managed to achieve in less then 1 month?
What you continue to post that even if the game continues to improve at this rate?

...

What are you trying to prove with this image? Is this bait?

THAT REFLECTION LOOKS TERRIBLE, WHAT THE FUCK?

Because there was no upgrade lol.

>no shadows drawn in the distance
>low poly everything
>terrible draw distance
>pop-in everywhere
But muh bloom am I right? Fuck off. That literally looks worse than the alpha PS3 footage. It looks fucking terrible.

He's been grasping so hard he might have gone insane.

By the standards of most JRPGs it looks fine. By the standards of a AAA game it looks like a cross-gen title (which arguably makes a bit of sense considering its origins.) By the standards of Squeenix's tentpole titles which used to have the best graphics in the industry it's pretty bad.

Overall I'm still optimistic that the game will at the very least be the Force Awakens to XIII's prequel trilogy- not anyone's favorite, but good enough that people will believe that Final Fantasy can be good again.

>There's still people who continue to post cherrypicked out-of-reach area from the demo hoping everyone else is too uninformed to notice

>It looks like shit
It just doesn't though. It looks perfectly serviceable which is all a JRPG needs to be. Games like Terranigma or Chrono Trigger weren't the most technically advanced game on the SNES, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, etc weren't the most technically advanced on the PS1, and so forth. If the rest was brilliant it wouldn't matter one fucking bit. I still enjoy playing SNES, PS1, PS2, GameCube and Xbox era games, all of which "look like shit" to people like you I guess, but I think they continue to look good and do the job and be wonderful games.

>for a game that's been in development for 10 years
Has fucking nothing to do with how a game should look or be judged frankly. I don't understand this sort of grading on a curve, and frankly from watching people who do it I don't see how it brings them any happiness vs those of us who don't.

>all the while they posted PC footage that has been heavily downgraded.
I don't pay attention to super early prerelease publicity ever so I'm also not let down ever. Vidya is my hobby that I do for my enjoyment so I don't see why I should actively spend time and energy trying to remove enjoyment.

>It's also an AAA WitcherCreed clone more than a JRPG with a budget of over 100 million. It doesn't look fine according to anyone but ignorant drones.
Buzzwords and graphicsfaggotry bullshit.

>I agree with you on the rest though, from what we've seen the game is a soulless husk of a JRPG.
THAT is the important part not the rest of the stupid crap above. It looks mediocre as fuck in the ways that actually matter, not engine specwarring. It does not in fact look like a PS2 game. Arguing about that is just retarded.

What is this footage from? I've never seen this before.

>xv-kun still defends downgrades after the game has got several

Does XIII look better than XV?

Why are you posting images for ants?

...

PS1 games look like shit too. PS2 games had good art(XV does not). This looks like a janky PS3 game with a shitty art style.

You're an ignorant retard for brushing off anything I said. It all matters for a lot of reasons. Just because you don't care doesn't mean I'm using buzzwords or faggotry.

PS3 alpha footage.

What the fuck? It looks like running any game in a laptop with integrated graphics.

Holy shit I had no idea the downgrade was that bad

You mean, will the game even turn out to be good enough to want a "better version"?

How does that not look fine?

Serious question: do you actually play JRPGs, like, at all? Ever? How old are you? Because I have this suspicion that the main way you "play RPGs" is to inspect freezeframes that nobody will ever see static and then shitpost about them. People like you infest discussions about certain movies and TV and anime threads too, somehow delighting in going through frame-by-frame to finding the natural, normal compromise parts. But it's just meaningless noise to the 99.999% of the population that aren't giga-autists.

How it looks and feels in motion and how the game directs player's attention and forms the whole mood is what actual consumers care about, and since they're the ones that provide the money they're also the only ones devs care about, people like you literally don't matter (even if you get a game to do your own stop framing on you just pirate it anyway).

It's also in these areas that FF15 looks like it's going to be mediocre, not the technical aspects of the graphics. And that sort of underlying lack of fun and disjointedness is also exponentially harder to fix or even "patch", if it's possible at all.

>Overall I'm still optimistic that the game will at the very least be the Force Awakens to XIII's prequel trilogy- not anyone's favorite, but good enough that people will believe that Final Fantasy can be good again.
I hope you're right but just can't be optimistic myself. I'd be happy to be surprised though.

Looks ambitious for ps3, I want to play that game.

>PS1 games look like shit too
You and I will just never see eye to eye then.

>with a shitty art style
This is an actual fair criticism but has zero to do with technical merits.

>You're an ignorant retard for brushing off anything I said.
No, I'm a 35 year old software developer who has been playing JRPGs since FF1 and I think you're fundamentally full of shit about the reality that different parts of the overall vidya equation matter differently for different genres, and that it's realistically impossible to be perfect at everything, even with a huge budget. Some parts of development simply do not scale, you can't just throw more bodies at it and have it go faster or get better. In fact longer development periods are often actively harmful, not beneficial. At least from my personal project experience, I'd expect something AA or AAA with a 10+ year dev time to generally be WORSE, not better.

I guess we're just coming from different perspectives though. And we both seem to be in agreement that FF15 will probably be mediocre at best, albeit for different reasons.

I do play JRPGs. Playing one right now.

>implying I'm going to read the rest of your sperging

looks like shit tho

Pre-rendered backdrops notwithstanding.

>but has zero to do with technical merits.
It does when the technicalities take away from the art.

>No, I'm a 35 year old software developer who
Types too much about shit that doesn't matter. In other words you're mad.

wow, literally ps2-tier game what a piece of shit!

Luckily, after the update it looks more like the first pic than the second

>Types too much about shit that doesn't matter.
You're here too pal.

>In other words you're mad.
Sort of? And so what? I do think it's a bummer when people go apeshit and expend huge amounts of energy over something that doesn't matter and barely give a thought to what does because it can skew developer priorities which results in worse vidya. Years back, Sup Forums rightly complained about how much of the industry was spending inordinate amounts of time and money purely on tech demo type stuff that was super shiny and advanced but completely soulless, and that it was doing it more and more in areas of vidya where it really really didn't matter. FPS and the like have always been showcases and that's fine, can even be part of the immersion and fun, but the most advanced graphics aren't equally important in every genre.

But the industry did and continues to do it why? Because of the sentiments you see in this thread. It's not the industry pushing this on us and spending hundreds of millions with all the problems that entails, it's the industry responding to demand.

I dunno user, I mean is that just something you're happy about? If so that's your preference of course.

If you guys so desperate about grafix just watch PAX footage on twitch in best possible quality. Looks great for me. Pro will look even more better. Imo.

>Pro will look even more better

That'll be $24.99.

Ssshhht! Don't tell them! You'll ruin their "muh downgrade" bubble!

You'd never be able to.

Versus XIII we saw wasn't ever possible on PS3, once again lies and bullshit.

Nomura stated the game ran at 10fps with car driving thru even in one of the zones (as they were) of the open world.

...

Tell me something, consolefriends. Are you guys actually okay with having to buy the Pro to have games which perform well? It used to be that one of the arguments of console over PC is not having to upgrade. No memes, tell me your thoughts if you already have a PS4.

...

>No memes
>Are you guys actually okay with having to buy the Pro to have games which perform well?
>No memes
We have passed the event horizon where I honestly can often no longer tell when someone is shitposting, baiting, or entirely serious but unable to even recognize their own shit anymore. I know there is no Sup Forums hive mind but come the fuck on.

Im not okay with it. It goes against console gaming, if i want upgrades i would just buy PC.
Gonna enjoy FFXV with my OG PS4, and then buy a PC.

Don't expect any serious replies, especially after giving such detailed responses.

Idiots here aren't up for discussion.

...

It does matter, you just don't care about it because you're a pleb.

...

Goddess of Eos please let her make it to the end of the game. :(

why wouldn't you just play it on pc

should be pretty obvious now that consoles are a losing proposition

She's already dead.

N-noo...
