Rust is fun but the have to be in that special 'I have three days to dedicate to nothing' kind of state to really enjoy it.

I really want to enjoy rust and just built a comfy house with a fence and some archery targets and stuff. But the building meta and the absolute most cancerous community I have encountered in gaming won't allow it.

The game needs factions and some sort of environmental enemy distraction to be really be fun to me.

Rust has become a parody of fps games. Its the same deathmatch style gameplay, but also you have the logistics of the situation lumped upon you as well. 5 days of sheer work to be lost in a second.

Just find an unpopulated server and chill.
Still bullshit that you can't create a singleplayer server though.

This game is literally for retarded psychos with too much time at their hands. All progression is done in an effort to destroy the progression of other players who at some point will stop going on the server where you group stays. Then you have to delete your own game, because you got everybody to leave. Sick gameplay.

In fact animals are sort of stupidly rare. Expect to harvest humans for fat to built your first forge. Expect to harvest your own corpses for fat.

Not sure what you're talking about. The server is called WRC (Wurmian Refugee Camp) and is generally comfy af but has rather normal body/mind gains so I still can't ride a fucking horse after a few days of playing

Rust is good to play if you go in with the mindset you will lose everything overnight.

No matter how you build you base, there's a clan of 14 year olds with crates full of C4 and insane glitchy ways of getting into your base.

Also to survive, you have to build your base in the most disgusting unpleasing looking way possible.

Besides that I fucking love how the gun fights feel, and interacting with others feels like no other game.

I can't enjoy that type of games because I prefer to build shit and keep it comfy and not get it destroyed just because I wasn't online at a certain time of day

No not at all. It's fun with groups, working together against the big bad guy of the island, or secretly hoarding supplies to raid other tribes. It's alot more politics than youd expect from a game like this. It's an unfinished buggy mess, but it's still pretty fun. Worth whatever i paid for it.

I joined in a bit later myself, they started it like two weeks ago I think. We've been making daily threads to get new players but they mostly serve to net in old players who happen upon the threads. The deed is huge and there's plenty of land, but there's no rush of newbros building shitshacks like in the olden days.

Wouldn't that just mean you missed giving them their bonus at Christmas so they're getting it a week late?

I had a great affair with Rust before the update, 15 hours that I will take with myself through my whole life. Nothing in the update improved upon the stuff that made my time with Rust so memorable, now it's simply one more building game, i don't feel any need to fight for survival and resources, no ability or need to hide my base and pray that I won't be found. I'm happy for the people who enjoy the game now but it's forever lost on me.
