Not, after dust finally settled
What's your honest opinions about ps4 pro?
Is it a good idea?
Not, after dust finally settled
Morons will buy it, so Sony CEO will say it's a good thing.
4k is a meme
There needs to be an exchange program for your old ps4. I'm not paying full price again for that shit.
Only if you play Visual Novels, otherwise I wouldn't see why somebody would buy it unless their friends are also gamers.
if it lets me play Bloodborne at 60fps i like it
it doesn't
proof?
I will probably upgrade in a few years, it doesn't make any sense to get one right now. I'm not interested on Xbox and i already own a PC gayming.
>I will probably upgrade in a few years
Just buy a PS5 m8
They already said the ps4 pro won't make you see better fps in any games except for VR titles
I don't think we will see a PS5 any time soon.
>Only if you play Visual Novels,
>Uni is a prodigy with a cool reserve who is accomplished in everything except for English. One day, she insults her temporary English teacher and he overhears her. He asks her to come to his office after school and, somehow, she starts receiving private tutoring from him.
Can't wait to play it in the 4k
>tfw own a ps4
>tfw the only game your looking forward to is persona 5.
>it doesnt come out until next year, dispite Sup Forums shits posting that it would actually come out this year.
Dem feels man. This console was such a waste of money.
Released in 3 years m8, anounced in 2.5 years, mark my words.
It's called craigslist/ebay, stupid.
I see no reason to replace my current PS4 with it.
GameStop is offering a whopping $125 for your old PS4 towards your PS4 pro purchase.
Without spending money on a new 4K HDR TV, just a normal 1080p monitor it gives any combination of the following:
-Supersampling from 1800p or higher down to 1080p, giving a cleaner image with no jaggies whatsoever
-1080p but with higher graphical settings (ultra high, if you will)
-1080p with more stable and/or higer framerates
That's without ever getting into 4K or HDR. If you think that's worth the extra $100, go ahead. By how much Sup Forums has been bitching about 900p games on the current PS4, I'm sure no one has a reason to complain about PS4pro's absolute minimum requirement of 1080p, with most of it's games being 1800p (with upscale) on average, with some exceptions of actual native 4K (TLoU, TESO)
For any newcomers I think the extra dosh is worth it. For those who already own a PS4 wait and see if your favorite games get improvements you like, otherwise wait.
It's optional
until there's games that are PS4Pro only, who gives a fuck
they offered 200 one month ago
Might get it later after digital foundry made some more comparison videos about the framerates between the two.
Barely used my PS4 lately though except for the Nioh beta.
If only fromsoftware cared enough to update their game, they don't even want to fix frame pacing issues.
So I've been thinking about getting a ps4 for a while. Is there any reason to get the pro over the slim when I only have 1080p tv? Do we know of any concrete differences in fps and such between the pro and the slim?
>$30/m online.
>PS4Pro won't increase framerate of older titles.
>Multiplayer is fixed 30fps.
>Can't even do 4k really.
>Will be replaced by PS5 shortly.
They did a horrible job explaining it properly. The conference made it seem liek the thing literally does nothing if you don't have a 4k screen when it actually upraged the 1080p versions too.
Also better wifi and it comes with a 1tb hdd so basically if you plan on buying a ps4 for the first time there is really no reason not to shell out the 100 extra bucks
I heard it will downsample from 4k so good anti-aliasing I guess?
the 1080p versions of games get upgrades too. Sony put out a FAQ regarding the machine that makes it much more appealing than their shitty conference did. Basically better wifi, more storage and upgraded graphics/framerates even without a 4k screen
That's hilarious. Quite the scam they run.
>implying that, if PS4 Pro does well, they won't start releasing paltry upgrades for consoles all the damn time like they do for iphones
remember this?
technically it does come out this year, this Thursday to be precise, in japan
>5$/m for 2 games and online
>literally not true
>multiplayer isnt fixed at 30. It's fixed at whatever the ps4 version runs at and for most multiplayer titles (for example titanfall 2, uc4 multiplayer) it runs at 60 even on a normal ps4
>399 dollar device cant do newest games in native 4k? HOLY SHIT
>sony is doing 3 year cycles.
Do you think it will be enough to justify a $175 price difference though?
Where do you get ps4's that cheap, tell me your secrets.
$175 is the price difference between the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro here in Sweden
It's a shitty upgrade. They should have at least made some effort in obsoleting their standard Ps4.
>Depending on how the developer chooses to use the increased processing power, games with PS4 Pro support are able to render higher or more consistent framerates, increased environmental and character model detail, improved overall visual quality, and other related visual enhancements.
Noone can know that yet. If devs do it right and focus on better framerates it wwill very much be worth it but who knows maybe devs will be retarded and use the extra powers for god rays or some shit
Since sony is giving devs free reign with the hardware we can't know yet how worth it will be
It will not fix the problem of developers being cunts that choose making unplayable low frame rate messes over looking a bit worse but at locked 60 fps.
And don't come with lame excuses because since the sega dreamcast, it is possible to do ANY genre of game at 60 fps.
I'm quite jelly.
no idea. different people care about different things. As for me, I'll pick one up if it makes frame rates more consistent.
that would've been suicide. They are releasing this as an elite product next to the ps4, not its successor. People would lynch sony if they suddenly released a ps5 level difference machine this year
Guess I will just have to wait and see actual benchmarks for games I'm interested in then. Thanks anons.
Really? Total price of the Pro is $530 here.
It's entirely pointless. It's better than the standard but still not worth the price of upgrade.
If I get the pro, should I upgrade the hard drive right away? How much would a 2TB drive cost?
The fact that multiplayer games must have parity, and since it's multiplayer 24/7 it can't do that unless the framerate increase only activates in offline mode at which point you have this vomit inducing switch back to online mode.
>530
I take it all back, I just thought we were talking 400 buckaroos here.
But in all seriousness, I can't say if it's worth it. If were getting higher fps, then I'll be happy. If it's just a texture res upgrade or more volumetric hair. then no
>Buy PS4 Pro
>Buy PS+
>Buy latest game
>Buy day one DLC
>Pay for day one patch and one other patch in first week alone
>Game only looks and runs slightly better than old PS4 games
>Damn you, Sony! Why?
I don't trust the niggers around here
its not worth upgrading but its worth paying the extra money if you plan on getting a ps4 for the first time, which is what sony is intending to achieve with it. It's a way to keep the sales going and make the whole platform seem less outdate. A sony ceo said himself the main reason for the pros existance is that every console cycle when the midpoint is reached many people will jump off of console gaming and to pc gaming because they are seeking better graphics and this is a way for them to keep a few of those people with their platform
TLOU:r and ESO run native 4k on PS4pro. These are the first 2 titles as far as i know that run native on PS4pro.
1 tb is plenty. I got almost 300 games on mine and didn't have to clean it up yet. Just get rid of the Huge space eaters oncce you're completely done with them
Pussy.
>300 games
Bullshit. I have the 500GB and I can have maybe 5 AAA games and 4 PSN games.
That's because Gamestop thought the price of the PS4 Pro would be more. Damn I should have done it back then
>still spreading the "patches cost money" meme
are you a kotaku writer?
thats why i said "newest"
i dont see how anyone is complaining about a 399 dollar device not being able to handle battlefield 1 in native 4k. None of them must have ever used 4k on their pcs before. Shit is a power drainer
>but still not worth the price of upgrade.
Assuming the promises take hold and developers actually do bother making Pro settings then yes, it's worth the price of upgrade even if it's just some extra graphical fidelity or framerate upgrades. This is a N3DS vs 3DS situation except you don't have to hack the system to get something out of it, and for people buying a brand new system there's no reason not to spend $100 more for stuff that would also be a plus years down the line.
And it is filled up? Where did you find 5 games that take up over 80 gigs.
I had ps plus since launch, that shit + sales in the store adds up
>People would lynch sony if they suddenly released a ps5 level difference machine this year
Nah. Sonybros are just as bad as Apple fanatics. They will forgive and forget
There's no opinion to have, only a plan to understand. The ps4pro is the product we should have had in 2013, but it's more profitable to hype a big product every three years rather than 6-8, so they released something that was more like a ps3.5, and now this.
Maybe all the people that jumped on the hypetrain in 2013 and have no mind of their own. But even if just 10% of costumers are smart enough to call them out for shit like that, that is a huge amount of people that they wouldn't afford losing.
Dude a typical AAA game is anywhere from 20 to 100 GB. Black Ops 3 is 83GB, Witcher 3 is 51GB, GTAV is 61GB.
These are the games I have installed. I'm currently using 400 of 500 GB.
Okay, you are correct on that one. My bad. I was out yesterday and hadn't seen the news about backpedaling on that.
I wasn't dumb enough to be an early adopter, so it's a good thing for me.
do you expect them to time travel? Ps4 pro hardware for 400 bucks in 2013 would've meant losses for every sold unit.
It's fucking dogshit.
t. Sony fanboy who grew with the playstation 1 and 2 and bought the playstation 3 and 4.
i have witcher and gta physical. I generally dont buy triple a games digitally for that exact reason you save up to 90% storage by having it on a disc. Also holy shit 80 gigs for COD? Dafuq is all that space even going towards?
>Black Ops 3 is 83GB
What? It must be because is poorly compressed right?
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare = 44 GB
Battlefield Hardline = 42 GB
Diablo 3: Reaver of Souls = 58 GB
Dragon Age: Inquisition = 41 GB
Grand Theft Auto V = 41 GB
Infamous Second Son = 20 GB
Killzone Shadow Fall = 35 GB
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor = 35 GB
NBA 2k15 = 42 GB
The Evil Within (all dlc) = 51 GB
The Last of Us Remastered = 40 GB
Until Dawn = 35 GB
Wolfenstein The New Order = 43 GB
527 GB with 13 AAA games. Stick with the 1 TB model.
And i thought Sup Forums was smart enough to never trust kotaku or polygon
Most likely.
Many AAA devs nowadays just dont give a shit about their filesize and dump a hot load of feces all over your hdd. I doubt it is even compressed at all at that size
>Grand Theft Auto V = 41 GB
Youre a really dumb person. Right here I put that GTAV is 61GB
It's a terrible idea. I hope it flops hard.
As someone who doesn't already own a PS4, I'm mildly interested. I don't give a shit about 4k, but I might pay 100 extra for better 1080p performance. If I did already own a PS4, though, there's no way I would buy one
Trust me it doesn't. You'll see.
over half of those shouldn't even be on your system anymore. What'S the point in still having wolfenstein installed? You play it once and that's it
Or the nearly 60,000 other sites who reported it.
Sure, but they were probably able to release something where most games wouldn't suffer from so many huge loading times and frame drops, I feel like I'm forced to buy the new version if I want a normal gaming experience. I'll wait and see, if the fps are stable I'll sell my current ps4 to buy the pro version. After that, I'll finally get my shit together and upgrade my pc.
PS4 has no gaems
Don't fall for the digital jew. Just buy physical.
> Native 4k
We got a live one here
Its almost pointless, unless they allow me to trade in my ps4 amateur at half the price for pro then im fine with it.
Does xbox still spy on you with that mandatory camera nonsense? If not i might jump ship soon
I feel like Sony & MS has no idea what they're doing. There is no long term strategy for this which means they're just winging it one moment to the next. 4K jumped to the market so fast without these companies to catch their breath, it's just a spur of the moment reaction.
Who the fuck knows where this will go next. I doubt they even know.
I made the mistake of buying a 500GB ps4. When you uninstall a game you lose the freedom of casually playing it, you'll have to wait for the long reinstall, and if it's digital, for the download. It's a strong deterrent.
>Bloodborne at 60fps
Better hardware doesn't magically uncap the framerate, dummy. You might be able to actually achieve a stable 30 fps this time, so at least you have that going for you.
just proves those 60,000 other sites are also dumb enough to trust kotaku
I think it's pretty clear sony is going with a console launch every 6 years and a console refresh every 3 years after launch.
Yes if you were waiting it out before buying a PS4 like a reasonable human being
No if you're an early adopter, but then again, being one at all means you're used to taking it in the ass
That makes sense.
But does that mean MS & Sony will always be 1 year off from each other? So will the PS5 be released in 2019 and Xbox Two in 2020?
That would create a divide between early and late buyers, and making the PS4 completely obsolete this soon would also hurt the PS5, because people would not buy the first version at all, and wait for the mid gen upgrade instead.
Hahaha NO. The rest of the console is still too weak to handle anything above 1080p without performance problems.
Anyone that says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about.
I'm probably getting one if it comes bundled with one game since it has a 1tb hdd and I already have a few ps+ games since I have a ps3 that I have ps+ on.
nah, MS will be forced to update the Xbox again before too long. The problem the Scorpio will have is that it's going to be on the same lithography as the PS4 Pro, meaning it's going to use a fuckton of power right now. The next die shrink won't be out until 2018 probably which is when Sony will probably start talking about the PS5.
I rather feel like the scorpio is microsofts next console. I feel like the scorpio was them admitting they lost this gen and them officially moving on. Sure they might say this won't devalue xbone purchases but the moment the first scorpio exclusive game releases, the thing oficially counts as their next console
Not much of an upgrade to be honest, but all of these upgrade consoles are kind of lame anyway.
Is 4K even something people are really interested in?
Not many people have 4K tvs or even buy physical copies of movies, right? I just don't see the market for 4K tvs being as big when HD tvs were first coming out and consoles made a big deal about showcasing the whole package of HD tvs with consoles. This whole upgrade console nonsense just feels half-assed on both sides as an attempt to market to the "enthusiast" crowd that just wants "bigger and more powerful".
The only thing I can see maybe happening is that the Scorpio has a ridiculous price tag on it that is $500+. MS will suffer the same fate that Sony did with the PS3 with having a later console release and more expensive price even though it's technically more superior.
Hopefully Nintendo NX will make me buy a console from them instead of just getting their portables.
This would make more sense than it being a 4K Xbox One, the power gap is just way too large and it's got more RAM.
It'll probably just be backwards compatibility and the games at launch will be Scorpio / Xbone compatible, after a little while though Xbone support will be dropped.
People buying consoles for future games and not for already existing games are morons.
Serves original PS4fags right.
I have no opinion on the actual performance or price.
The console itself is ugly as fuck. One of the ugliest pieces of tech I've ever seen.
>Fuck it, let's just throw another layer on top of the PS4
I was hoping for a Bloodborne machine running at 1080p 60FPS, not the very same weak shit with an HDR meme filter. I'm gonna wait till it hits the bargain bin in 2 or 3 years.
