Huge new widely-successful IP

>Huge new widely-successful IP
>Nintendo ends updates and events after a little over a year
Why?

They probably never had a long-term gameplan for this game.

Hopefully if there's a sequel they get more invested in it.

because a sequel and spin off are probably coming and they don't want the game to be in competition with itself.

NX yo. Sequel on there. All development at Nintendo is NX focused, on Zelda, or filler right now.

Because premium DLC is bad and free updates cost them money

and WiiU is dead

Hopefully NX has gyro controls, but im concerned the backlash from "gamers" (t. Not Gamers) will make nintendo remove that feature

It was supposed to end last January if you don't remember.

Because Splatoon was made by new blood and they never expected them to actually succeed.

It was an embarrassment to the geezers still in Nintendo to be so out classed so easily so they killed it.

Splatoon for 3DS when?

Because they'd rather have their employees making more games than sit around sustaining one game for all time like other companies are content with doing.

3DS is a piece of SHIT hardware and the sooner it dies off the better.

It has p good games though.

if Splatoon did come to 3DS, it'd be a 2d platformer, not a direct port

Oh shit nigga, I fucking love Contra, Splatoon sidescroller when!?

Its selling like hotcakes though.

Yeah, it's shit hardware, but who cares? It has good and fun games. I'd rather a game have good content than look pretty.

I don't see why not. You could use thumbstick controls in Splatoon, no reason to not make both options available on Splatoon 2.

They're completely out of touch, why else?

>hugely successful new brand
>Japan briefly obsessed with it
>only real use of the brand was the concerts and amiibo

I feel like the momentum of success is already lost, where the fucks the anime? Took about a year and a half for the Pokemon anime to take off after the game released

Splatoon got mangos and merch sell like hotcakes in japan. Also it sold 1m there, the game still getting some updates but no more splatfests.

Isn't dead yet.

>Hopefully NX has gyro controls
This. I've been playing shooters on consoles for years, and I initially dismissed gyro but grew to love it.

I'll shitpost about the touchpad minimap being a shitty idea and the controller being unfomfortable all day, but gyro is fucking great and I hope it becomes more common.

Gearing up for Splatoon NX, or Animal Crossing NX (less likely given the New Leaf update), or whatever their next Big Game is.

The past year's updates were probably small remnants of the team just tinkering around, kind of like Happy Home Designer / New Leaf's Update probably were. The core of the team has probably been gearing up for the next big project, and the time has come to shift development for that into high gear so everyone's getting involved.

Free updates cost money and the game was sold at a discount price in Europe/Japan AND consistently updated for a year. That is pretty fucking good, honestly.

Thanks for ruining video games by hating progress in better controls between the player and in-game character.

Better for a sequel to come within the first two years of the NX's life. Bums me out there won't be intuitive superjumping and miiverse drawing though.

Post your hopes for the inevitable sequel.

>Allow you to carry 2 weapons that you can switch between, or at least let you change weapons between spawns
>Local play, either split-screen or local with multiple NXes.
>Bigger matches that take place on bigger maps. Absolutely keep 4v4 as the main attraction, but 6v6 or 4v4v4 on a huge map would be insane.
>More gamemode/map variety from launch day. It got plenty of content eventually but that's no excuse for a sparse launch
>An option to put the minimap on the main screen, so it's easier to check at a glance
>Better bosses and enemies in the campaign. DJ Octavio was fucking incredible but the rest of the campaign was very lacking.
>Co-op campaign or challenges would be really fun.

What if, the next controller have pressure sensitive buttons and gyro.

So we can finally have Sunshine on virutal console?

Uh what?
Did you respond to the wrong post?

>Allow you to carry 2 weapons that you can switch between, or at least let you change weapons between spawns

Stopped right there. That's a terrible idea and you should feel bad for even considering it.

I'll give you carrying 2 weapons, but how is switching your loadout in the lobby/between deaths a bad idea?

Want the online system to work like every other shooter ever with custom game and LAN support.

For the gameplay, I think it'd be fun if swimming vertically ignored gravity and you had more movement options on walls.
