Great lesson in why the sjw type suck at being creative or technical.

The game itself wasn't so bad i think and i really loved the crafting system in the game but besides that i found it quite boring and the fact that there was no trinity made dungeons a clusterfuck.

>Living Story meant nothing was permanent
>The story was a hack job
>GW2 lore is completely divorced from GW1
>Aforementioned SJW pandering
>Combat mechanics feel like a waste
>Only two classes are mechanically interesting (elementalists and engineers)
>WvW is nothing but zergrushes
>Focus on structured PvP
I think people are most mad that it's not more of GW1.

Stagnation. What few changes ANet did to the game didn't address issues in various game modes such as WvW.

Fucking niggers ruined everything.

The game never makes your character feel truly important. It's all about Trahearne and the Pact and all the other OCs, while your character is just along for the ride.

Largely expectations. Most of the complaints you hear are preferences and opinions.

The whole game feels unrewarding.
You can achieve great things and all you get is a trashbag full of shit and some silver.

False.
And most of this holds up for HoT.
In some regards, HoT is worse.

Old Gw1 devs left before launch, vanilla and some of the early (now changed and gone) game had a sort of magic to it, unused assets suggest it was going to be more like Gw1 then it seems. Content made by the real devs lasted approximately up to the first Halloween event. Afer that, JewCSoft, Nexshill and NeoAnet soiled it.

"What could have been" is the best way to describe it.

Yeah wasn't Guild Wars. Just some weird perversion. Got to cap, finished the campaign. (The final fight sucked) Ran a assasin who was pretty broken at the time. Did some raids for gear that I never ended up getting just so they look cool. Stopped playing 2 weeks in. Shit game, not Guild Wars.

Let me add to this
>constant updates that consistently make the game worse
>one of these updates involved funneling the talent system into a "pick 3" heap of shit which made every class have like 1-2 viable builds for PvP
>go "free to play" but lock the ability to use the most powerful weapon types for each class behind a paywall, along with the most OP class. Simultaneously fucking over people who bought the base game and anyone who wanted to try the free to play version
>patch notes that said they already implemented things that still didnt work for six months after (im looking at you moving engineer magnet shield)

It seemed like anet was run by literal retards who were actively trying to ruin the game with every patch and update because they were sick of working on it.

Look at their staff and you know why.

teddy barely works on any content.
The only thing he has done recently is add that trans npc to LA like a year ago and designed a few raid achievements which weren't that great.

> Lazarus The Dire appears.
> Primordus is active
> We're going to the Ring of Fire Islands in 10 days

At least it seems they are going in a right direction with the lore now.

Devs bragging about not playing the first one

Here ya go.

i was fucking mad they gave the base game free to all the favela niggers than spat in my face and told me to pay $60 for the expansion. Anyone who bought the expansion is a cuck

>Guild wars 1 had an incredibly unique design philosophy
>Nope, get the fuck outta here founding members
>Restructured the dev team from bottom up
>Hurr lets just make it more like WoW, except with none of the content

ArenaNet is fucking cancer at this point.

Shit tier graphics

Movement sucked fucking ass in the word. Having to hit a go fast button every 20 seconds because the devs did not like mounts was fucking stupid

>the Heart quests from GW2 make a return in Ember Bay
>a weapon skin set that drops in-game only
>There are brand new armor pieces to be earned from Achievements too: a new shoulder and a new helm.

Might be okay.

I will never not be mad about this, I don't care if I sound like Sup Forums neo-liberals are ruining everything.

yeah they seem to be getting their shit together.
The raid was good, the story is improving. I'm excited for the future of the game.

These threads always have the same outcome, with the same images from years ago being shitposted, with the exact same responses.

they were so concerned with adding trannies and faggotry they forgot to put in end game content or make WvW not lag the fuck out

Game go gutted because NCSoft wanted to make Wildstar big a few years back instead.

It's kind of like how your bot lane in League can feed during the laning phase and you know you're going to lose but the game still has to drag on while you get your ass kicked along the way. Wildstar's announcement was basically the announcement of first blood against your AD. All the SJW bullshit was a result of this because they'll work for cans of soup if they get to push their agenda onto something.

Three quarters of that image is irrelevant now. Most of those people aren't at the forefront and have nothing assigned to them that they can ruin.

When you play any MMO you pick a "career" for the long run. In WoW you are a PvPer, a raider, an achievement hunter, etc. There's people that have been sticking to it for over 10 years, and they know they'll probably be able to keep going for the forseeable future. That's what keeps "investing" in their character.

GW2 felt like a big directionless experiment where anything you decided to pursue could be axed or neglected at any moment. There was never the feeling of a bright future ahead for the kind of content you enjoyed, so people felt less inclined to dump countless hours and money into the game.

Imagine if Blizzard decided that their next WoW expansion would have no raids, or no PvP, and everything you enjoyed just dissapeared. That's what investing time into GW2 felt like.

Absolutely nothing. from 2013-2015 it was on the decline and things were stagnating, but from the beginning of 2016 onward GW2 has been fucking blossoming. I haven't enjoyed an MMO on this level since prime GW1 in 2006.

You're spot on, actually. Guild Wars 2 made a giant profit at launch, but NCsoft decided to take that profit and make Wildstar, along with having some of the GW 2 devs joining Carbine against their will. Trying to find a way to have content with very little money, they added those SJW retarded as the head devs for the Living Story project. Now both games suffer from NCsoft's meddling in the long run and that annoys me the most.

The biggest sin will always be taking Guild Wars' incredibly diverse and highly customisable classes and homogenizing them into 8 classes that all play pretty similarly

The transition from Guild Wars Mesmer to Guild Wars 2 Mesmer is one of the greatest tragedies in gaming

>being pushed into one mode and being stuck with it
>a good thing

I'm not an autist so I can't just focus on one aspect of a game and be absolutely content with doing the same thing over and over and over.
If I wasn't able to do all 3 game modes seamlessly I would have quit GW2 by now. But the fact that I can keeps me interested enough to keep playing because the future of all 3 modes does look bright, contrary to what you're saying.

WvW is receiving reworks that are being rolled out over time, one of them hit this Friday. PvP is receiving a huge overhaul for the next season and has gotten 2 new maps recently, one dropping in a week. PvE is getting a new map and story every ~2 months along with new skins and a new raid wing is right around the corner which will conclude legendary armor.

On top of all of that an expansion is in the works and should be out by this time next year. How is the future for this game dark if you play it to any capacity?

might be the worst argument ive ever heard

I'll never forgive them for ruining Destiny's Edge to promote that bullshit Destiny's Abortion. I'm still scathing from the moment I realized they'd become the main characters. The blatant self-insert Scarlet was bad enough, but they weren't even subtle with Destiny's Pride Parade.

Completely agreed. I've not played a class as interesting or fun as GW1 mesmer ever since.

>weapon-locked skills
>limited skills in general
>clunky mechanics like thief dagger 5 having cast time despite being a melee move
>movements feel off for some reason
>WvWvW feels inconsequential as fuck since it just gets reset all the time
these for me

>movement*

>WoW Legion launches
>suddenly daily threads shitting on GW2 and FFXIV

Wow, I wonder who could be behind this post.

I've never played the first game, so I don't know how GW2 compares to it, but it had one of the best leveling experiences I had with a MMO, but some of the worst endgame and longevity. It was fun to get a character to 80 once, then there's fuck all to do, and when you decide to create another character, you realize it's the same shit but with a different coat of paint. All of the updates are also pointless, with 90% of them just being story stuff no one gives a fuck about, because they can't hurt the feelings of anyone by upping the level cap and introducing anything interesting to do.

dont forget the daily shilling of >WoW is back! threads. blizzdrones are getting desperate

guild wars 2 is an mmo about lesbians.

Because the team that developed GW1 was pretty much replaced by incompetent people who had nothing to do with the original game.

I'll agree with this, its getting better.
But some of the game design is still fucking retarded.
>All of HoT bar the story and music
>PvP, my main game mode, is a clusterfuck clown fiesta where originality and build diversity is punished by awful design choices shoehorning classes into one build rather then buffing weaker builds / opening diversity
>WvW is a joke
>PvE is braindead
>RP is also a joke right now unless you have a good guild. And they wont be taking any new people.

Self insert? I don't know. More like a super mega powerful Mary Sue. I mean come on.

The dragons. An all powerful fucking forces of nature involved with the whole main story shenanigans of Guild Wars 2 couldn't penetrate defences of Lion's Arch.
But some jester salad did and wrecked the whole place. Seems a little embarrassing when you put stuff like that in your game.

Not really mad though. I only ever gave a real shit about WvW and that seems to be getting some attention now after 4 years.

Destiny's Edge 2.0 still relevant in Living Story Season 3?

>story
>good
The latest composer also left the company.

I don't want WildStar to go to waste either. It suffered some of the worst mismanagement an MMO could get, and it's a great IP.

The story hasn't been good since Factions

Although I agree with you, the launch kill most of the expectation and after personally getting to endgame, leveling is some of the worst I seen in any mmo, and I play Everquest 1

Hate it because the movement stuff has spoiled me and I can't play any other MMo anymore

wow has better movement than gw2

GW2 feels floaty as fuck and nothing has impact.

(you)

Instant Gratification.

seriously, gw2's movement feels horribly unresponsive
its like you need to accelerate when you start running
turning around also feels slow as hell for some reason

Two words: Jumping puzzles.

also the fact that jumping randomly interrupts some stuff sucks
i cant jump/turn around while in air/use an instant spell/turn back around at all

In the right hands, Wildstar would have been amazing.

Maybe I am a fool, for thinking there is still hope for it. But I do. Think on that, brother.

t. low skills or shit internet

Great leveling experience leading to end game devoid of fun things to do

I'll bet real money that these are just the people they trot out for diversity points and the actual workhorses are all white/asian men.

It's a great leveling experience exactly once

Then they had the Dervish and don't have something similar to that in GW2 either

>Aforementioned SJW pandering
I'm new. What pandering?

What PVE is even worth doing now?

Found the last sad person who still enjoys those

The HoT maps, or working on your legendary. This is what I'm doing anyway. Also new living story soon so I try to get the other ones achivements

The game hyped up the idea of exploration but the entire world is monotonous and boring. Filling out hearts and collecting vistas is not what exploration is supposed to be about. I enjoyed the platforming puzzles a bit and sPvP was fun for maybe an hour or two. PvE is boring shit but I didn't expect any more than that.

They should have had wPvP in the actual world, not that awful WvW bullshit. WoW's wPvP was the absolute best. Even though getting ganked can sometimes suck, it adds so much to the experience. Both at low levels and endgame.

>give base game for free to new players
>make veterans buy the exp after they bought the base game
Fuck them

I am not a guide fag who did all of them in one afternoon reading about them on Dufly or buying the portals of a mesmer, so it's always a pleasent surpirse to find and do one if I'm around

>working on your legendary

That's like the only reason anyone did any pve.

>Love engineer class
>only thing that can feed my ADHD
>Its fucking terribly squishy is only good for condition damage as zerker dies way to fast.
>0 condi clear so necros eat you alive
Why would you every pick engi when you could pick ele

>All of HoT bar the story and music

What about the HoT map's?

about this, is there any advantage to having bought the base game? I'm asking because I can't remember my password. I'll just make a new account if there's no advantage.

Play scrapper

Don't talk shit about Best Girls.

Depends, if you have bought the game, getting the exp is more expensive than a new player buying it because veterans have to use the ingame store.

New free players have some restrictions tho, even worse I've heard that without the exp you're on a heavy disvantage.

GW2 has gotten hate threads long before Legion. It's always been GW1fags.

The XIV thing is more recent, and is probably WoWfags. The anti-WoW posters are also probably XIVfags.

there's a major problem right there though

they thought it was a big enough fucking thing to actually announce a skin drops in the game.
and this is after they cancelled the legendary weapons that we're a feature of the expansion.

i feel like they're kinda getting their shit together but fact is it's nowhere near enough they're still wasting effort on the PVP scene, Wub is still and will forever be a mess because they cant afford to work on it the only team thats proven their worth is the small raid team which leaves the other 100+ employees apparently doing fuck all but sitting on their ass.

I agree, after you get through the leveling in Wildstar you just don't want to do it again.

I got an engineer to 50, didn't like it, deleted that and got a spellslinger to 50 two days later. Now I don't have the will to get any alt past level 20

>release expansion with almost little to no good skin
>release cashshop crap that is more detailed and handcrafted the following week of the expansion's release and months to come

>Guild Warrior
>Still no GvG

Holy shit really? Wasn't that one of the selling points of HoT?

Nothing. It's the only good MMO.

necro was dogshit in pve
bugs that took months on end to fix
obvious catering to the popular classes
and endless cash shop/expansion jewery

fucking ncsoft
i should have known better after they murdered city of heroes

>they thought it was a big enough fucking thing to actually announce a skin drops in the game.
They didn't though. The news outlet that got to see a bit of the new area did.

Just Guild Halls

Would you play the Sylvari race if they were made as intended and the race wasn't corrupted by Angel McCoy's writing?

And those are literally the only examples of that in the game.

People who worked on it had never played the first one.

Fuck no. Real plants instead of wood elfs look nicer

I COULD enjoy Guild Wars 2 as "mite have fun for what it is, considering all of its not-nostalgia-related core flaws, and as a polished turd" but there are two huge fuck ups:

Content updates (a pretty big fucking deal for a MMO) must be unlocked by logging in during the release's limited time window, meaning you're expected to keep the game installed and actually give the game my attention. Do you really think come-and-go players do this? Did they not realize this is directly the opposite of their buy-to-play philosophy where people may just fuck off and come back to it a year later? Revisiting the game after a big break should be welcoming with all those new content updates, and not punished by missing out the time limited content. Oh, but of course you can unlock those content by paying cash or cash shop currency...

Speaking of which, the cash shop currency is utterly fucked the longer the game goes on. Imagine if the US dollar tanked every month beyond Aussie dollars and things are permanently more expensive as time goes on, and the train has no brakes. This is a huge issue if all they ever do is put new items on the cash shop instead of as ingame content.

>plant grows fleshy beings
GW2 is not inspired by Lovecraft.

The look was never the problem

>Content updates (a pretty big fucking deal for a MMO) must be unlocked by logging in during the release's limited time window
Only the story missions, which can be bought for like 150g anyway.

>and the train has no brakes
Gem prices inflate in parallel with gold, and there hasn't been inflation of gold in like a year's time.

So wrong on both counts.

You haven't played for over 3 years you dumb fucking idiot. Most of those issues have been addressed

Or you can ask a guild mate to let you play when he opens the instance

I never actually did any research on this but I think the story progression was kind of messed up, I remember salad man leading a bunch of important looking characters to fight this big ass eye and then he does some shit with his blade and some theme I rather enjoyed starts playing

But then, I went to speak with salad man and he was speaking with this ninja with gas mask and butterfly wings who i remember having seen in that crusade, they asked me to keep this guy's existence a mystery and then he said we had to do some research on that eye monster, were there 2 eyes and no one noticed this guy or did I somehow play the story in a messed up order?

>No trinity which is fine but nothing to replace it
>Leveling is fucking awful
>All group content is just a zerg fest
>Dungeons are complete and utter shit
>Originally there was no point to make any gear besides zerker

Played recently, they haven't. Most of those issues are built into the game's core design and can't be changed.

>or did I somehow play the story in a messed up order?
A while ago they actually literally did that. Put the missions in a weird order for some god forsaken reason. They've fixed it now, but it was a shitshow for a while.
