The two series were effectively run as competing series after Pokemon took off and WB got the exclusive rights. I always had to tape Digimon because FOX scheduled the show at the same time as Pokemon.

I know pokemon has never exactly been grounded in reality but do they seem to just be getting more outlandish with each entry now? Like the most intense thing you did in R/B/Y was fight mewtwo while in ORAS you fulfill and ancient prophecy by taming a rayquaza then flying to space and killing deoxys. This new game looks like its getting even more wild. Im not complaining im just saying its a strange direction to take a game about glorified cock fights.

Digimon games never was popular because the gameplay was never consistent.

Digimon: Computer programs that acknowlege they are computer programs and come from the digital world
Pokemon: Creatures from nature or man made

Whatever they do with those creatures is up to them.
