Soldier party members are shitty, you have to rely on their bad AI for them to get shit done.

With Kaiden+Wrex, you have the best team. Kaiden has loads e shields meaning he almost never dies, Wrex is literally invincible, and both have Biotics which is BROKEN AS ALL FUCK in the first game and incredibly reliable.

In ME1 Ashley is the better written character and overall more interesting. She's actually surprisingly multidimensional compared to all the other characters back in ME1 before they got sequels. Her voice actor was pretty genuine too. But I still kill her off every trilogy play through because ME3 Kaidan is actually pretty good but more importantly ME3 Ashley is a complete travesty to her character.
