Anyone excited for this to hit NA? i very rarely see yokai watch threads here

It sucks, pokemon is much better

>NA

>yokai watch

Looking forward to it. Hope I can beat DQVII by its release.

pretty sure I'll get it. I have one heck of a backlog though

i would if they removed the constant stylus minigames, they add nothing to the battles

Still need to beat the first, but yeah ill probably get it.

I enjoy both games thoroughly but I think Yokai Watch is better in many facets.

>Story
I don't think this is a contest really. Pokemon ALWAYS has the same story, no one buys the game for that. Random evil gang steals Pokemon to harness their power for X reason.

Yokai Watch's story is generic overall in the fact that "Oh scary demon wants to take over human world" but the characters are really what makes it good.

>Monster design
Both are pretty good, I think it comes down to preference. Pokemon is a little bit more edgy but still has some cute ones, whereas Yokai Watch is mostly cute/wacky monsters.

>Gameplay
MASSIVE advantage to Yokai Watch in my opinion. I've played just about every Pokemon game through at least once or twice but unless you are battling other people, most of the games can be completed with two Pokemon leveled naturally by progressing on in the story and smashing A on whatever your best move is.

At a lot of people think the stylus part of the gameplay detracts a lot, and while I also think that is true to an extent, unless you really want to grind levels in post-game, you have to be on top of targeting, item use, and position swapping your team around.

All this said, there are still some things I would like to see them change eventually.

>mini cutscenes
EVERYTHING has a fucking mini cutscene making shit like even just teleporting with Mirapo or using the Yokai elevator a huge pain in the ass at times.

>day/night mechanic
They need to either get rid of time requirements for quests/locations, or make it easier to change time because teleporting back to your house, changing time, teleporting back takes quite a bit of time because of the cutscene shit I just talked about.

>Make main story longer
I found the main story of the game to be REALLY short, and it was by far my favorite part of the game because it meant interaction with the funny/cute yokai more often. I enjoy postgame more in terms of gameplay because its harder and with less filler stuff, but I really would have liked to see the main story be at least 50% longer. Doing this would also add extra content for postgame so I don't see why they wouldn't.

>Make effects like popularity/greed more potent
I can't tell you how many fucking times I fought Happierre trying to get his medal for Shogunyan, or fighting Mama Aura trying to get her Golden Tofu for Kyubi. There needs to be a way to make this less rng frustration.

i got the game when i first got a 3ds about 2 months ago. i love the game and i'm super hype for the second. although i still have to beat the optional bosses and infinite inferno.

this is my current team, i'm not sure who i should replace venoct with because i really don't like him. after i replace him i think my team will be done.

This shit will never fly.

I've played Goemon which is the most japanese feeling series ever made and it's still less japanese than this series and it's humor is.

The first one did pretty well here. Why wouldn't the second game?

>The first one did pretty well here.

Not really. It did pretty mediocre, especially with the Nintendo publishing.

Its cartoon series is also the lowest-rated show on Disney XD right now. Literally lower than Gamer's Guide.

Really excited for it. It's a shame we can't transfer our teams from the first game though.

That's because the gameplay is plain shit

i don't think the first one did well here at all. i think that's why its harder to find the later series of the toys and stuff.

how would that even work? i have kyubi on my team and i think she is supposed to be a legendary in bony spirits.

speaking of which, i still don't know which version i'm going to get. both seem nice.

How comfertable is the 3ds xl to hold compared to the 2ds? My roomate has alot of games I can borrow but I hated how small the the 2ds felt in my hands.

The first game sold a few hundred thousand, which isn't bad, but they probably wanted a lot more.

I'm hoping for the REAL pokemon rip-off instead.

>excited for literally auto battle with the same 3 minigames ad infinitum
Why would anyone be? If you want to do chores get a job

I'm waiting for the third version thats already out in Japan, they can't trick me

Maybe you should replace him with someone else from the Brave tribe like Reuknight or Sheen/Snee.

Pokemon is pure RPG, Yokai Watch is more of an action game like Mario & Luigi. Pokemon's story is piss easy but I love the party building mechanics and they really shine when you actually face another competent player. Yokai Watch is a fun single player experience but has zero RPG or metagame appeal. They're actually quite different outside of the monster collecting theme.

>Wanting Joker
>Not the DQM 1 & 2 remakes

I enjoyed the first game, and would be interested in playing the second.

But I already know that DQVII is going to take up all of my handheld gaming time for the rest of this year.

>Need 3 rare locusts
>Can't find them anywhere despite being found "in bushes everywhere"
