Looks like Borderlands
Can't wait for Sup Forums to get their Build engine panties in a twist again.
you can turn off damage number
You can't turn off the random drops, the randomly generated levels, the quests, the equipment system or the leveling system.
???? you dumb
...
What the fuck? So wait...it doesn't have a single player that is a follow up to lo wangs story.
>nu-doom
I hope your mother dies soon
Nope, it's a console exclusive f2p multiplayer title that only features Wang as a playable character with no story relevance.

You joke but if you go to the Youtube comments section on ANY Shadow Warrior 2 video you'll see all sorts of idiotic comparisons.
But people mostly compare it to D44M, even though Shadow Warrior 2013 came out before that and had pretty much the same gameplay.
Wish I had that picture from New Vegas about opinions.
the levels arent randomly generated in the sense that EVERYTHING is random or even that it takes lego pieces and sets it up. from what i've heard from those who've palyed the preview build, the randomg eneration is more in the sense of picking out of a set of pre made levels with an additional chance of mirroring said level.
of course thats what i've heard though. might be a poor way to put it or w/e. you kids will think its a straight lie anyway.
>Nu-anything
I fucking hate this Sup Forums-lingo.
It's randomly generated from a set of level pieces but not generated totally like NMS or Space Engine. Devs still created the level pieces themselves, not generating them using some algorithm.
So a roguelike, thats nothing new and nothing to get all worried about.
Yeah, my best guess is that the game will end up like a way more elaborate Tower of Guns.
flying wild hog hasnt been stupid enough to do something like this for a game like shadow warrior. i accept this could be how it works contrary to what has been stated by quite a few preview players but could you provide i source? i ask because what i've heard is backed up a bit. just a bit though. i know its silly to ask when i didnt even provide one myself but you children will get triggered by TB anyway
Not saying much. Shadow Warrior 2013 had better everything than nu-DOOM except level design and graphics.
>puts in a melee weapon and a skill tree for said weapon that completely and utterly surpasses what you can do with with guns making them something you whip out when you cant get in their face.
no. i found the enemy design to be even more boring than dooms too but thats subjective.
Who wants some Wang?
Good joke.
It barely did anything better than the original Shadow Warrior
SW2 looks like absolute shit.
Who exactly was asking for shadow warrior to be turned into borderlands?
This seems like an entirely different game which has borrowed the shadow warrior IP. Which is confusing because it's not a very popular IP.
>nu-DOOM
>gates non-CoD tier gameplay behind unlockable progression faggotry
Which means it's leagues ahead of nu-DOOM, the only thing that game did well was the aesthetic, the gameplay was slow, cramped and boring.
lol those health bars look indie af.
I'm looking forward to play it with friends, better be gud.
it looks fucking fun and fast what are you talking about
>nu-DOOM
>gates non-CoD tier gameplay behind unlockable progression faggotry
but at least weapons have their uses. the guns in shadow warrior were COMPELTELY outclassed by the katana and ki magic. i can remember quite a few weapons i've used in doom, i cant remember more than two in shadow warrior outside of the katana. magnum for range, shotgun for mid range. thats it. i dont even remember if there was a flamethrower or not.

I'm posting from a phone currently so maybe the link is fucked or whatever. If the thread is still by the time I get home I'll share from my PC.
I'm just excited for another game where I get to kill shits using dual claws. Been so long since NG2. Besides which, SW was so good for it's price.
It IS an indie game afterall.
>gates non-CoD tier gameplay behind unlockable progression faggotry
What are you talking about? Shadow Warrior did the same shit as D44M
shit, aight. thanks anons.
TB lied to me. or just made up his own conclusions from his short playthrough.
Sup Forums complains about everything, nothing new here.
I'm really anticipating SW 2.

people try to copy eachother and the most popular money grabbing concepts for games, thats why everything is so similar and going down the shitter
I tried out the original AFTER I dropped Shadow Warrior 2013 and liked it much more. Sure it wasn't perfect and like all the build games it went overboard with the hitscan enemies, but it had a lot of charm and the weapons were fun and creative.
I hate this new focus on melee in the new Shadow Warrior. I hate having to upgrade your weapons. I hate how the guns are mostly inferior to the sword and you only really need to use them during boss fights. I hate the new Lo Wang, his dialogue is terrible.
I just want another TRUE 90's FPS, not just Painkiller with modern mechanics.
I might give it a go if you can just katana everything, but it'll probably force guns down your throat.
Also is this a budget game like the previous one or a full-priced game?
It cost less then 40$.
You get 20% reduced price if you already have a Hard reset and SW2013
>I just want another TRUE 90's FPS, not just Painkiller with modern mechanics.
sam needs your help friend.
>chainsaw is an actual weapon and not a PRESS X TO LE EPIC GORY KILL QTE
Already miles better than D44M in my book.
Budget. 10% discount if you preorder, 20% discount if you have the first game.
No it does not Mr. Devolver Employee.
Looks pretty fun, I hope enemies In later levels don't get too bullet sponges and that the weaker weapons are actually good.
>Painkiller is a 90's fps
Where does this meme come from? It's a shitty arena shooter.
I already have all the Serious Sam games along with Talos, and I'm even looking forward to Bogus Detour.
Katana was one thing that I actually liked in the remake, even if it wasn't similar to classic. They kinda fucked up some weapons, the rocket launcher especially had this weird delay and just felt weird to fire.
Classic's main draw was the level design that hid literal metric fucktons of secrets which weren't easy to find whatsoever. That level design is something I've yet to see replicated in a modern shooter.
play them again on serious in one sitting
No it doesn't. NuDoom was shit but so is this.
Maybe I didn't express myself properly.
When people say "Oldschool" these days they think of things like Painkiller - locked off mini-arenas with lots of enemies being thrown at you.
i dont think there are talented enough level designers in the industry to make a level centered old school shooter. let alone people these days just wanting to gun some dudes down and not navigate a level. different perspective on the same formula. shits ded m8. sorry.
I think they fucked up with the weapons in the new one. The uzis were pretty weak, the shotgun was even weaker than the original, the rocket launcher as you said was weird and not very powerful, and they forgot to put in the railgun, which is bullshit.
Also the enemyt design was a step back imo. Nothing in the new one stood out to me like the coolies in the original, or the BDSM bitches
Word. Weapons were weak as fuck and were only good at making cars and shit explode and take demons with them. Sequel looks like it's making the guns pack more punch but having them as randomly generated loot instead of having a tech tree or upgrade system seems stupid.
>randomly generated loot instead of having a tech tree or upgrade system seems stupid.
Actually, it was the techtree and upgrades that were REALLY FUCKING STUPID and basically broke the last game's neck for me.
Shadow Warrior 2 is a looter-shooter, plain and simple. It adheres to an established model of a genre that has existed for decades and has it's own odd appeal (I personally never understood it, but I can't really argue with the army of Diablo and Diablo-clones fans, as well as Borderlands players).
Actually, from all the gameplay footage, previews and impressions, it seems like both the level generator and the actual gunplay are absolutely fantastic though. The thing I personally really worry about is that the looter-elements will break the flow of the game and distract from the actually fun parts as you'll need to consistently keep checking your gears, slot upgrades etc... othewise you end up underpowered. I don't like that.
But I can understand what they are going for, even if people are pissed they quite literally shifted the genre of the game between the instalments.
>dual claws
MAN DO I HAVE THE GAME FOR YOU
>even if people are pissed they quite literally shifted the genre of the game between the instalments.
borderlands is one of my favorite games mechanically. im also a fan of old school shooters. they should've just made an entirely new IP or something then take shadow warrior and effectively remove it from the genre it was born in. shadow warrior fans wouldnt get butthurt about it and people like me would still get to enjoy their game.
>they should've just made an entirely new IP
Fucking this, it's not like Shadow Warrior was really that popular
>And then there’s the chainsaw. “Our chainsaw doesn’t run out of fuel,” a member of the development team comments when I first find it. “You never have to stop.” Holding down the right mouse button allows you to control the angle and position of the blade so that you can play like a kid with a sparkler, drawing patterns, or tracing your initials into an enemy’s hide.
>chainsaw isn't a glorified QTE button
Preordered.
Simple marketing math: new IP's are drastically less likely to succeed than something with an established name: regardless of the quality of the original product, the difference in genre etc...
Same reason why Homefront or Prey got their "sequels" instead of making new IP's... It just covering your bases and marketing 101 really. I honestly don't know why the fuck is everyone losing their shit over this though, it's literally just a name. In this case, they also maintain the story, art style, characters, settings, most of the core gameplay features. Everything they are changing about the last Shadow Run are things that people have been complaining about in the first place (level design, weapon upgrade system, enemy variety), so it does not seem like an unfair or dishonest strategy.
That said, I'm not saying that Shadow Run 2 is going to be necessarily good, or even better than the "first" one (meaning the reboot one of course). Or that I like the direciton of the changes.
I just don't get what the big deal with the name is.
I think people are really just looking for stupid shit to complain about.
Yeah, I'm excited for both. October's gonna be great.
Deathwing is november.
im not sure about others but when i see that shadow warrior 2 is a looter shooter instead of what it was meant to be i thought that shadow warrior, as an old school IP, is dead. sure it would've been dead without wild flying hog but it kind of neglects those who actually gave a shit about what genre shadow warrior 2 is in. of course that it doesnt mean shadow warrior cant go back to its original genre but it means that time, money, and effort were put into a game that shouldnt be a thing.
that being said im still gonna play the ever living fuck out of it with a buddy over LAN. shtis gon b dope.
But Shadow Warrior (and to a greater extent SW2) have almost nothing to do with the original apart from the fact that your character is named Lo Wang and you shoot things. That's it. That's why I have a problem with it.
>instead of what it was meant to be i thought that shadow warrior, as an old school IP, is dead.
It as always dead.
>it means that time, money, and effort were put into a game that shouldnt be a thing.
How? Where does this notion of what "it should" and "should not" be come from, really?
It's a bizzare way of thinking.
WHY?
FUCK
I hope it doesn't get delayed or anything.
>WHY?
Because I liked the original Shadow Warrior and would have liked a sequel, instead I got a completely different game using the name Shadow Warrior. It's the Fallout problem, basically.
How the fuck does story mode even work then?
I assumed all side content was in a separate thing, where you then would do the progen levels.
>It as always dead.
why was it always dead? the reboot exists thus it isnt a dead IP anymore. the reboot had massive flaws, i wont deny that but it definitely had old school influence.
>How? Where does this notion of what "it should" and "should not" be come from, really?
purity. im of the mind that if an IP starts in a certain genre, the only way to make a game in the same IP but with a different genre is a spin off. like MGR, Serious Sam Bogus Detour, etc. once you take an IP that was one genre and modify it enough to not be like the original genre then in my opinion the game shouldnt be the way it is. no matter how much im into the product. i cant stress enough how much im hyped for SW2 despite arguing against it.
theres a main quest chain. like in diablo, borderlands, fallout, TES, etc.
>and would have liked a sequel, instead I got a completely different game using the name Shadow Warrior.
So? How does this make somebody wrong to use the name for something different? It's not like they trick you into believing it's something that it's not. The company has been always pretty damn clear about what you are getting when you are buying their games.
>It's the Fallout problem, basically.
No. The problem is that the new Fallout games are shit, not that they use an established brand name.
>why was it always dead?
What kind of fucking question is that? Why is Miasmata dead? Why is Original War dead?
>the reboot exists thus it isn't a dead IP anymore.
Old school Shadow Warriors are dead. The first reboot already had little in common with the original game, and the reboot has clearly run into limitations of what the developers are capable and comfortable with doing. That is why they made the changes they are making: They are trying to expand on what they knew they could do well while avoiding what they knew they could not do well. Level design, pacing, repetiveness of the core gameplay loop were MASSIVE flaws not only of Shadow Run reboot, but also of all other Wild Hog games since original Painkiller, whose makers mostly left the team.
They are simply trying to work on what they knew they struggled with and leave in what they thought - correctly - that was good.
>purity.
Which means absolutely nothing.
I think main quests would have their own unique levels while the side quests would take place in the progen levels. Even then, I think the progen would be relegated to when you're 'traversing' towards your goal. When you reach the final fight or whatever, they'll probably be in certain setpiece/level piece.
Shadow Warrior 1 was better than nu-Doom.
>The problem is that the new Fallout games are shit
Subjective.
The Shadow Warrior reboot was basically D44M: Melee Edition.
>Subjective.
No. Normative, actually. Based on a set of standards and criteria. Learn the difference, it's pretty fucking important to understanding any form of criticism or in fact any moral (that is on the scale of good-bad) judgment what so ever.,
>moral (that is on the scale of good-bad) judgment
lol
You should probably actually learn something about the terminology and the fields you want to talk about before embarassing yourself like this.
>What kind of fucking question is that?
we're talking about IP relevancy here right? shadow warrior is fairly relevant. the two IPs you referenced i've never even heard of and can only assume that they will never again be touched by any developer. so they're dead IPs.
>Old school Shadow Warriors are dead.
not my point, at all. im talking about the IP, not design philosophy. if that were the case then yeah, shadow warrior has been dead for ages.
>but also of all other Wild Hog games since original Painkiller, whose makers mostly left the team.
holy shit i forgot wild hog did painkiller. fuck that puts a lot of the reboot into perspective for me.
if most of the devs from the roiginal team back in the painkiller days have left then its effectively a new team under the same name and should be treated like a new dev all together.
>They are simply trying to work on what they knew they struggled with and leave in what they thought - correctly - that was good.
i agree, which is why im still hype as fuck. then again any single player FPS with an emphasis on tons of dudes can get me on board, even if its mediocre at best. i just like shooting tons of dudes with an arsenal of weaponry.
>purity.
>Which means absolutely nothing.
purity is the word i would use to shortly sum up the rest of what follows after. weither you agree with the word or not means nothing. my point still stands.
I was indifferent when they turned SW from a classic shooter into a Painkiller-style game in reboot.
But turning it into FPS Diablo is too much. Fuck this shit.
>holy shit i forgot wild hog did painkiller.
I think People Can Fly did Painkiller
>we're talking about IP relevancy here right?
Except the whole problem is that IP relevance changes. Which is the thing most people seem to have trouble accepting. The modern day IP of Shadow Warrior is entirely different from the old Shadow Warrior to begin with.
>im talking about the IP, not design philosophy.
If design philosophy is not a problem, then why are people outraged that the design philosophy has changed?
>holy shit i forgot wild hog did painkiller.
They did not, I'm actually a huge fucking Moron. Painkiller was made by People Can Fly, who then on moved to work on Bulletstorm and then was absorbed by 2K. Some of the people splitted off to form Wild Hog, but clearly not the level designers. Those actually moved on to either Techland or the studio behind Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
>purity is the word i would use to shortly sum up the rest of what follows after.
But I still believe you are contradicting yourself. On one hand, it's not about design philsophy, on the other hand it's all about the design philosophy, because that is the only thing that changed between the titles...
I liked SW 2013 so I will probably be buying this, I think if anything the story looks the most shit.
The Poles seem to have a MASSIVE boner for these looter-shooter-melee types of games lately. Dead Island, the canceled Hellraid, Dying Light, Shadow Warrior 2...
>People Can Fly was absorbed by 2K.
Source?
As long as they don't have one for cinematic QTE-fests and not-games I'm fine with that.
>>People Can Fly was absorbed by 2K.
Sorry: I'm not sure what the fuck is wrong with me. I'm talking about of my ass again: They were absorbed by Epic Games, becoming Epic Games Poland studio.
Source - you can look it up on wiki.
I somehow got the story of Illusion Softworks and People Can Fly mixed together. I should probably stop posting now.
I find it unlikely. They also seem to have a boner for ambitious but shitty RPG's too.
it does, there'll be story levels but the rest are procedural
>yo guys so instead of fixing the flaws of the first game and making a solid fps with no bullet sponges this time, absolutely useless shotgun and probably the worst bosses in the entire history of FPS, we will just slap coop and retarded borderlands mechanics and call it a day
>sounds cool, yeah?
>Except the whole problem is that IP relevance changes. Which is the thing most people seem to have trouble accepting. The modern day IP of Shadow Warrior is entirely different from the old Shadow Warrior to begin with.
same setting, same characters. personality is the same but written very differently. at least thats how i look at the personality. you're arguing design philosophy. im arguing IP relevancy. while im excited for SW2, i still dont think it should've been turned into a looter shooter because of people like its trying to keep the integrity together as much as you can. painkiller style shooters are close enough to old school, at least for me, to be fine. its when the game starts melding genre ideas together so much that it doesnt come close to resembling the original that i have a problem. SW2 shouldnt be a looter shooter. it just shouldnt. the mechanics of a loot shooter are drastically different and go against the mechanics that the old school represents. thats the issue many people have.
>If design philosophy is not a problem, then why are people outraged that the design philosophy has changed?
cause its called shadow warrior. same reason why people said if DmC wasnt called devil may cry then it would've been fairly decent and not completely trash. only in this case its more extreme of a jump.
>But I still believe you are contradicting yourself.
i might be, im awful at arguing. im not gonna deny that. only one way to get better though.
i might just be repeating what i said to the first part, again bad at arguing. if thats the case then just ignore this part.
hold please, damn character limit.
last part.
shadow warrior 2 shouldnt be called shadow warrior because the design is so far off from what the original was even like that it pisses people off. the reboot still held a good amount of what made shadow warrior, shadow warrior. shadow warrior 2, does not. that statement i made with the whole purity thing was just me trying to explain what you said you didnt understand.
People Can Fly are independent right now. They have 2 projects coming in 2017, the big one and the small one (probably Bulletstorm remaster)
You are right that some people was transferred to FWG.
>you're arguing design philosophy. im arguing IP relevancy.
i just realized i am arguing design philosophy at this point. fuuuuuuck.
