40% of World of Warcraft players are female.

If you were looking for shitty, then there's no shortage, and right now I'd suggest that Barbie Dreamhouse game as the cringiest, or Secrets if the Magic Crystal as the cheapest on Steam.

In terms of "lots of female gamers play them" you could also point out things like the Sims, or hidden object finding games, as surprisingly female-dominated niches.

There are a lot of female gamers who don't all make a big deal about it. Breakdown depends on the game style, but even some of the hardcore male-dominated ones, like grand strategy, has the odd one here and there.

I've noticed a lot of female players playing Overwatch compared to other FPSes. I have no clue why, or if that's true on a global scale or just friends/the people I get matched with.

Can't say that's not true to some extent, but I still enjoyed the more recent Black Closet, which actually has some replay value. I don't mind a bit of sweet doujin indieshit from time to time, not everything needs to be AAA. She's getting better at game design.
