Okay, so let's go back in time to Human Revolution, to the very beginning of the game, when Megan Reed, your girlfriend and an illuminati agent, rides an elevator with you. You have a little chit chat, when Jensen says that he's sorry for some minor thing. Megan starts stumbling and says that she's sorry too - about a lot of things, then says that there's something Adam needs to know - but before she can finish, Pritchard enters the elevator and interrupts your talk.
So, what was she going to say? What was she sorry about exactly?

She was going to tell him that she used his DNA as the basis for her research into removing the need for nueropozine. It was also the only reason she convinced Sarif to hire Adam as head of security.
Basically she only wanted Adam around for his DNA, and not in the normal way women want DNA.

1) it's unconfirmed if she was an illuminati agent at that point in time, or if she came around after being kidnapped
2) she was going to tell Jensen that she used his DNA as the basis for human augmentation; Jensen is a genetic miracle because his body doesn't naturally reject augs (though his past may indicate he was genetically groomed to be this through design, rather than naturally)

this was basically the only reason he was hired to work for sarif industries

If she could have hid it forever she probably would have given she was equally willing to just remain a willing prisoner because Darrow said everything would be fine.
