>minecraft and musou shit in the future
Builders is nothing like Minecraft and fuck you, Heroes was fun and I want Heroes 2.

Anyway, my copy arrived at my local post at noon, so I guess I'll be playing it tomorrow.

My copy has shipped but it hasn't arrived.
Maybe tomorrow, maybe Friday, but I'll get it.

I already preordered it two weeks ago

>amazon: Expected to ship sept. 14

>>Still hasn't shipped yet

WHATS THE HOLD UP

Have to wait for FUCKING GAMESTOP to get mine. And as Builders is honestly my most wanted game this year even topping DQ7.

me too user, me too

Never ships earlyt for me fucken cunts , pirated it will still buy its coming fri.

Getting it this Friday.

Probably.

>you'll only get minecraft and musou shit in the future
>tfw looking forward to builders more than 11

Naw, I pirate all my games, even weebshit like this.

Don't let a company hold future games in ransom user. If you don't like the localized game for whatever reason, don't buy it and let the devs know why.

For instance for dq4 ds outside japan, they removed the party chat to save time localizing. This means 60% of the text was removed from the game. It caused a huge drama bomb and for dq5 ds they kept the party chat.

What if you pirate and buy it?

Not only that but the outcry for how badly they handled the dialect made them stop going as crazy. Yeah there's dialect but they were all readable afterwards.

Pirated VII
Have VIII on preorder

Doesn't it come out tomorrow?
Not that I have a choice in the matter, will go out to get it that day.

Mine is shipping now.

Friday. I think.

16th

>musou shit

Friday

Really? Couldn't even be bothered to look it up before you shitpost?

>if you pirate, you'll only get minecraft and musou shit in the future
We'll only get that even if we DO buy every copy.
SE hates DQ in the west.

I would too if I had to make my script for retards in every fucking language because some jackass felt the need to make things more "diverse" by adding in a bunch of stupid ass real-world accents and dialects.
This is on top of all of the name changes that happen in every single fucking language they translate to, which aren't even consistent across translations (which is how shit like Terry being renamed Norris happens in spanish, along with town names altered, and in some cases and languages, fucking memes are thrown in on top of everything else).
This is the fucking lingual equivalent of having everyone changed to black transsexual muslims. And you faggots are fine with it.

is nintendo getting cut of the profits?

I imagine so, since they're practically doing all the work. SE sure isn't.

>pre ordering video games
Sup Forums never learns

Then fuck no, those japs won't see one cent from me unless they stop being assholes and get with the times.

But the accents and dialects exist in the Japanese version. It would be a bad translation to not try to convey the same kind of style to the writing

>But the accents and dialects exist in the Japanese version

The puns and joke monster names, too.

I can't pick it up until Friday.

Alternatively: how do I convince my FUCKING GAMESTOP to break the street date?

Wait google said it comes out on the 16th in NA WAS I lied to? Please tell me if it came out today so I can go pick up my game!!!

No they don't.
One hick going "howdy ya'll" in the original script is not grounds for an entire continent becoming Bumpkin Land.

Meena and Maya weren't french.
Saintheim wasn't russian.
There were no lord of the rings quotes.

You are literally reposting horseshit you believed from other shitposters because you can't do research on your own.

sex the gamestop manager or bribe with cash.

Its the 16th. Unless a store near you breaks the street date.

Japanese has a lot more dialects than standard and "hick"

The manager is a woman. Do grills even do favors for sex?

>royal
>archaic
>osaka/hick
>kansai/chav
>normal
Do any of those look fucking russian to you?

What's this game about, anyway? Is it better or worse compared to DQ V?

No but regional Japanese dialects can't be directly translated you retard.

even grills get horny, but only if your stud and not some oily fat neckbread.

I ordered this on Sunday, I've never player DQ7 before and DQV is the only one I have played. What should I expect?

So is the translation bad or not, fuck I regret obsessing over localization shit

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansai_dialect

>only played DQ:pokeymon quest like a pleb
You can expect to ragequit like a pussy.

Mine hasn't even shipped and apparently it won't even get here until the 27th.

Gonna be a long 2 week.

Depends on how you feel about accents and puns.

I love 'em and i'm sure this localization will be fine. The accent shit was only overdone in IV, where it was straight up hard to understand dialogue at times.

>have to wait for Friday
Fuck I want it now, piratefags got real lucky.

You live on an island. Thats all the land that exists in the entire world.

Find a tablet -> go back in time to an island that was destroyed -> prevent said destruction -> explore the island in the present to find a new tablet

Rinse and repeat for 100 hours.

> I regret obsessing over localization shit

Oh right, this game has a localization, that means gator kiddies will be all over it. I think they've managed to ruin every RPG release this year.

>bought DQIV, V and VI last year
>VII is finally out
>still haven't finished IV

>Have to wait until Friday

Just fucking kill me now senpai

Have you even touched V or VI?

Much less character focus and more about the problem in each area. You go to the a island in the past that has an issue. Fix said problem and move to the next island. Each island has it's own theme and feelings and issues. I honestly prefer DQ7 above all over Dragon Quest games because of how everything feels different with each place to go to.
While I'm not a fan of the accents I agree DQ4DS is really the only time it really fucks up. Sad because DQ4 NES is one of my favorite NES game. So them fucking up one of my favorite remake hurts.

>still haven't finished IV
What are you waiting on?
I managed to get through the first four chapters in around ten hours. I'm at 15 hours and have collected everyone but Ragnar. This isn't one of those RPGs where you are wandering around for hours on end, waiting for the next story cutscene so that you can access the next area.

I'd buy it if the translation was remotely accurate.

>I have never played DQ1 mobile
Protip: Don't.
It's really fucking bad with the script.
DW1 NES is a godsend in comparison.

>2 days before release, it's only in 15th place on Amazon's best sellers list

BUT MUH ACCENTS!

That and the ratio is fucking horrible.

The only mobile that I would ever really say is worth touching is DQ2 and DQ4

DQ2 because those sparkles really help because of how fucking bad that game is with hiding shit from you

DQ4 because it adds back the party chat.

DQ7 is like the weakest link of that whole series
its so long for no reason at all

Oh god what the hell is that?

How do people usually get their new games early? I've heard sometimes they come early from Amazon but I preorder from them all the time and I've never once gotten a game even a day early, they always arrive right on release day

DQ4 would be worth it if the game's UI and graphics stretching weren't as hideous as Kojima. Frame rate seems a bit worse as well.
The party chat sucks though (ironically, since it's the one game you'd hope it wouldn't), so even that's not worth it.

Are the Dragon Quest games light hearted?
I can't deal with another JRPG that is bleak as fuck at the moment.

If so, should I start from the beginning of the series or? What's the best starting point?

Some of them have some dark themes and moments, but for the most part they're very lighthearted, pretty much no melodramatic bullshit

I've only played V but overall it was pretty lighthearted, there's some bad moments but overall the story has a positive vibe

Start with 3, DQ games are very light hearted.

>its so long for no reason at all
Welcome to most DQ games in general.
Even DQ5 had this shit.
>HEY MC, I JUST GOT MARRIED, COME SEE ME AT MY PLACE
>all entrances and exits to other areas get blocked
>conveniently get to learn the return/warp/zoom/whatever spell afterwards (or was it during this ordeal? I forgot.)
>HEY MC, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY GET MARRIED TOO
Harry, please.

DQ1 and 2 are just cheap thrown together ports of a really early 2000 phone version. DQ3 is the only one of the first 3 to be fixed so it doesn't look squished. But that version doesn't have shit like the gameboard and enemy animations when attacking like the SNES version.
I was just pointing out the two versions that at least has SOMETHING. Heard the party chat in DQ4 mobile isn't great but better than DS with nothing

pirating

They have stakes and serious moments, but are overall very light hearted.

I live in a shithole, mine will probably take 2-3 weeks to arrive

How are the ports of 1 and 2 for the Gameboy Color?

Getting SMT next week so I'll leave this one for later. Barely have time for video games as it is

I preorder at a local shop. Getting the game tomorrow. Usually they send it a day before release sometimes even several days. There is another shop near me that sometimes have games a week earlier. I think the smaller the shop the sooner you can get your game because nobody will notice that they broke the street date. But it depends when the publisher ships them the games. So if the publisher is slow and they get the game maybe in the morning of the release then you are out of luck.

fuck pirates

same. if i end up liking the game i promise ill go buy a copy

I never played a Dragon Quest before, will I like this when i love RPGs like FF 3 - 6 ?

>Saturday is my Monday and today is my Friday
>VII May not arrive until Friday night

Fuck it, i'm itching to play some Dragon Quest. Which one Sup Forums? III or IV mobile, haven't beaten either.

If you don't mind extremely basic combat, then yes.

the difference is that DQ5 actually had somewhat interesting plot points to keep the player interested

DQ7 is literally several different generic tropes all shoved into the game to the point where its 100+ hours of bloated drudgery, and there isn't ever a defining moment or anything you haven't seen 1000 times before, outside of maybe Kiefer's situation which encompasses all of about 3 hours

It has depressing moments but it doesn't force it in your face like most JRPG. Bad shit happens and sometimes you can't really fix the problem and the best thing you can do is move on to what you hope is a happier moment.
>DQ3
>Light hearted
Having to deal with the elves and tell the elf queen her daughter and human husband killed themselves because she wouldn't allow the marriage to happen

>Heard the party chat in DQ4 mobile isn't great but
No, It's fucking disgusting. On top of that, all of the songs have some sort of annoying ass "intro" segment that really gets annoying. I don't know if 5 and 6 mobile also do that, but I didn't even bother with them because I feared that they did. Also because 3 mobile was an even bigger letdown than it could have been.
>better than DS with nothing
I'd rather play the DS version because it looks, plays, and controls better.
2 mobile ended up a bit mixed. They changed some of the things around, but kind of nerfed cannock a bit as well. Also, it was buggy as shit. They still haven't fixed it. Fucking SE.

>Own all of the games in some form or another.
>Only beat 1 and 4
>Almost beat 2, stopped giving a shit
>Almost beat 5, PS2 memory card died
>Haven't played any since
>Going to buy 7 and 8 remakes, too
>Probably won't beat them either

you wont be able to, the register will have a notification on the screen not letting them sell it early no matter what you try

I only played 9 on the DS
will i like 7?

>DQ7 is literally several different generic tropes all shoved into the game to the point where its 100+ hours of bloated drudgery, and there isn't ever a defining moment or anything you haven't seen 1000 times before, outside of maybe Kiefer's situation which encompasses all of about 3 hours
I hear that DQVII is more about the journey with a lot of interesting little vignettes rather than a giant epic story. I'm honestly okay with that if that's true.

Honestly really good. It's basically the SNES version just more limited colors and the text box a bit too big. I mean I would recommend playing the SNES version of 1-3 myself but if you want to play the GBC versions they are perfectly playable.

>5
>PS2

Huh?

>V
>lighthearted

Okay.

Both the SNES and GBC versions are more or less the same sans graphics and viewing area (smaller on GBC due to screen res).

1&2's translated SNES rom is pretty buggy, at least when I played it, so going for the GBC version might be alright.

Does it tone down 2's difficulty at all? I hear that thing is a bitch.

>5
>PS2

>pre-ordered it
>canceled it at the last minute
>pirated it
>got bored after 30 minutes

This is why piracy is great.

Did that get a US translation?

>Says it's supposed to be delivered Friday
>Got an email this morning saying it had been dispatched

I ordered from the nintendo uk store for that sweet as fuck poster, what are the chances of me getting it early?
Or even getting it on time?

Glad you got the joke

it is, but it's even worse than Trails in the Sky in how it executes the "little vignettes" because the way in which the areas are separated doesn't leave much room for real worldbuilding.
This means you're left with doing townspeoples monotonous dirty work for them about 30 times all for the sake of putting the magical puzzle pieces back together, and little else.

it's really easy to make your characters overpowered with the job system, if youre into that kind of thing, but basically every other job system RPG is better

DQ3 also looks bad.
It also took out lots of other shit in addition to what you mentioned, such as IMPORTANT songs (also done in DQ2 mobile and I want to say DQ1 mobile, but I can't recall), un-mirrored sprites (minor, but if a GBC could do it, then fuck you SE), and made every single "swimsuit" outfit be of one single look for every single class. How the fuck do you take out 9 different spritesets and think nobody will notice?

On top of that, they still left weapon-spells as the same shit they did with DQ3 NES, which is horseshit. Adding tactics was okay, I guess, but why even bother when you'd rather have full control in DQ3 anyways? It's not a game that benefits from it at all, not even in healing.

No, but it does have a fan-translation done by the guys who did the SNES version of 3.
