Well, aside from the gameplay, you can blame Tails Doll for that
EVERYBODY'S SUPER SONIC RACING
Is that THE game that launched the string of bad Sonic games to follow?
>there are people who think sonic R is bad
disgusting
What you're looking for is this
I actually played this in the late 90s on a piece of shit PC it's pretty amazing how I actually enjoyed it though if you've ever played it - has the WORST handling ever for a fucking racing game
then my furfag niece started talking about tails doll
Some of the game gear games were figuratively trash
CAN
YOU
FEEL
Which ones? I remember Labyrinth being the only shit one.
that one with knux in it
How can I play this on pc with sound
I legitimately love the soundtrack.
I mean, your not wrong, it's a pretty bad game
i had fun with this as a kid
nostalgia keeps it good for me
Triple Trouble? I remember having fun with that one, though this was like a decade ago.
Sonic Blast?
That shit looks like a romhack t b h f a m
what the fuck is that pose on the cover art?
I personally enjoy it but it set in motion what would become a stain on the franchise that lasted for years.
Radical.
That one
People will meme this game to death in this thread but I'm one of the very, very few people in the world who legit have Sonic R as their favourite game of all time.
>The soundtrack was 10/10 for a late 90s pop/techno music trash like me
>The tracks all had cool hidden paths and shit
>Useless characters but fun to play, OP characters in large quantities, one OP character to rule them all, what's her name Sup Forums ?
>"B-BUT THE HANDLING WAS BAD" a sign that user didn't find the w/x keys
>Fun as shit in hotseat
People who shit on this game haven't played it and are paraphrasing a shitty let's player.
Underrated post
THE
I'm tempted to post a string of famously bad games and call them "misunderstood" just to undermine your point but you're not worth the effort.
>pissc port
Why? Segata should break your hands
I said romhack, I meant knockoff.
*fedora tipped*
...
I don't know why you would tip your fedora at me when I'm going against your hipster trash opinion that a bad game is just "misunderstood."
Just checked out some gameplay and... What. The. Fuck. It legit looks like a bootlegged game. What the fuck were they thinking?
>Living in the city, you've got to keep the dream alive
>Living in the city, where everything is free
What does this mean?
Europe
Can't you see ?
...
*flips hat*
Sonic 3D Blast
*tsk*
You aren't worthy a response from me.
Cry into your pillow, n00b.
Later, in Reactive Factory
>nothing in this world comes for free
What did they mean by this?
>100%able in an hour
>Super Sonic is OP and the only character worth using other than Sonic if you haven't unlocked him
>The only way to get any difficulty out of it is to play as Tails Doll because it's so fucking shit
What's misunderstood about it?
NIGGERS
>100%able in an hour
Is this supposed to be a bad thing?
Well, after you spend all year waiting for it and wanting it at christmas, and your mom and her boyfriend can only buy you a game or two, and sonic r is one of them. You beat it an hour and it has no content. Yes its a bad thing
A game doesn't just stop when you reach 100%.
You have the option to, you know, keep playing it.
Also, never talk to me or my mom's boyfriend again.
In 97 that sort of game was still common.
Not when the ps1 and n64 were releasing bigger games with more gameplay and content
>super mario 64 came out in 96
Doesn't mean that trend just stopped all of a sudden once these consoles came out.
>You have the option to, you know, keep playing it
And do what? Race the same 5 tracks you've already explored in and out to get the Emeralds and tokens a million times?
I mean, I hate the pull the Mario card but at least that had 16 courses
I still don't fully understand Nights into Dreams
I enjoyed it a lot and thought everything about it was interesting, but I still don't "understand" it
It died out by the time 97 rolled around, though.
misunderstood is not a synonym for shit user
Totally this.
One of the main reasons sega had to leave the console business was because their idea of making ports of arcade games with 30 minutes of content and then selling it for full price was terrible. They got way better about this once they quit consoles, as they finally learned they had to include content in their games for them to be worth it. Sonic especially understood this
I didn't say it was good but if you enjoy the gameplay then yeah, why not?
Bomberman Fantasy Race barely had more content than Sonic R
But they both do lack stages when Mario kart 64 had 16
Thank god for digital distribution bringing good small games back, rather than these shitfest cinematic experiences.
Lol, all those games bombed except sonic adventure for obvious reasons. Theres a reason they stopped porting these "classics"
I enjoyed playing it as a kid especially when i was able to 100% it in half an hour or so but replaying it through an emulator sure as hell didn't do it any favors, the controls were also way worse than I remembered.
The only problem is that Sonic R was only entertaining for so long, sure most games can be short but you can only do the same shit for so long before you just get bored, especially since there are only a few characters that are worth using.
The point was that it's a bad game. You can 100% it in an hour and once you have, the whole 'open courses' thing loses all meaning because both there's one obviously quicker path and anyone that isn't Tails Doll, Amy, or I think Eggman is going to beat the horrible NPCs everytime with ease.
I'm not saying you can't enjoy it, but it's objectively a bad game and not worth full price. It's only worth it if you either pirate, get it in Gem's Collection or both.
I didn't play it, I'm just saying there's likely a group of people who, even at the time, found replay value beyond the 100% goal.
It doesn't look very good in my eyes but I don't think it's Sonic at his worst.
Also the music is jammin.
I played Sonic R as a kid when it first came out and I loved it. I unlocked every character and spent a lot of time playing it. When I bought Sonic Gems Collection for Gamecube and replayed it I could tell it wasn't as good as I remembered it but I still had all the tracks memorized and I could still love it. I played it again recently, unlocking everything again and I don't know if it's just nostalgia but I really do love this game.
Also best music in any racing game ever
I grew up with this game. I love it so much that a few years ago I asked for it as a Christmas gift from the very cousin that introduced me to the game.
I'll never understand why we can't get a sequel. Sega's shown time again they can make a racing game that isn't the Riders series I'm sure they could make an appropriate sequel.
Nah, I'd rather they keep getting Sumo to make some more All-Star Racing games.
If Sega put more emphasis on Sonic they could have so many concurrent titles developing.
>Mania Team making classics
>Sumo making racers
>Sonic Team making 3D/boost
I can live with that. Either that or an agreement with Nintendo for a new FZero. . Seriously, we need more arcade racers these days.
