PlayStation 4 Pro

So I'm a nigger with my money and just pre-ordered a PS4 Pro.

I don't have a 4K UHD TV (But plan on getting one next year)

Will I notice any difference in gameplay besides a more stable framerate?

Or did I just waste $500 and should have gotten a 4K TV first?
I'm always quick to jump the gun just ask my exs

it's probably worse on a 4k tv, desu

1080p games get a graphics and framerate boost

FFXV is said to look a lot better

It's probably a waste but buying a 4K TV right now is a bigger waste because most have garbage-tier latency when HDR is enabled, at least you know the Pro won't be replaced in 6 months

>playing a game on stronger hardware will magically improve the graphics

Are you retarded?

Games with online components have no framerate increase because it wouldn't be fair to PS4 normie owners.

Sorry Destinyfags.

you realize that the devs for most 1st party and 3rd party are releasing patches for the pro versions, right?

The game runs at 900p on PS4 based on the last demo and the Pro is going to require games be 1080p minimum, so yes it will improve the graphics

it depends on the game to be honest. I have a feeling devs are only going to want to upscale the resolution and add more effects. They will still most likely lock framerate at 30fps since changing that is a really big job.

I don't think devs will be very happy that they have 2 more consoles to develop for when its going to be a small % of owners. Expect half assed jobs and minimal improvements.

>*upscaled

>Will I notice any difference in gameplay besides a more stable framerate?

On a normal monitor you'll get any of the following:
>Supersampling ('4K' image on your 1080p TV, will remove jaggies and look sharper overall)
>1080p w/ better framerates
>1080p w/ better graphics

It's a developer-by-developer basis, so no, not all games will get better framerates, and not all games will haver better graphics, although ALL games will have supersampling (because all of them will require the '4K' mode at least)

As time goes on I think more devs will leave more options open instead of just having the normal version (PS4) and the 4K version (PS4pro). TombRaider for example has all 3 versions I greentexted above and you can chose any one of them.

TL;DR You will _always_ have better looking games than a standard PS4, regardless of your TV. But the way in which they are improved depends on each and every game.

I forgot to mention that whenever I say "games" I mean new releases starting from October of this year.

Any game released before that date doesn't have to get a PS4pro version, only games that are released after that. Every PS4 game is still compatible with PS4pro, but will play and render just the same with zero improvements, unless it's one of the dozen or so already released games that Sony is collaborating with a patch, such as TombRaider, TLoU, DeusEx, TESO, etc (look up the list yourself).

Every game on PS4 is already upscaled to 1080p, the Pro will require games to have a minimum rendering resolution of 1920x1080 to give it an advantage over the regular PS4.

Not OP but is it going to get to a point where I will HAVE to buy a PS4 Pro down the line? As in are they going to release games exclusively for the PS4 Pro?

Entirely depends if Sony allow downsampling of 4k content
They should, but they want you to believe you need (their) 4K TVs to see 4K, when it's not true at all.

No, even if devs focus on the Pro userbase, they'll just tone down graphics for the normal PS4 and call it a day.

yes

Sony said that won't happen but I think it will be like the start of this gen. SO when PS4 launched originally a lot games that launched with it were held back graphically because they were also developed for last gen consoles. I mean multiplats obviously. I think developers will beg Sony to let them just develop a game for the PRO only. Sony will probably cave or they will just announce the PS5 early and fuck everyone over.

You wont be able to play it on a hd tv you need a 4k tv also if you dont plan on getting the vr there is no point in getting it

Short answer: Nope, never ever.

Long "what if" scenario: Even in the worst case scenario where they (Sony) break their rule and allow exclusives, we already saw how well that went with the New3DS, which was permited to have exclusives and only got a single Wii port and a single exclusive of its own, not available on the normal 3DS.
It didn't get supported because the standard 3DS model has sold at least 10x more than the New3DS model, so for devs the market is always smaller on the newest machine. Same will happen with PS4 vs PS4pro, the PS4 market will always be 10x bigger, not only because it has a 40+million headstart, but also because it will always be the cheaper system.

They do. It's also worth noting that the transition to '4K' mode comes at almost no cost to devs, it's a very simple thing to implement (also, it's mandatory from now on if you want to publish any game for PS4)

So every single new game will have supersampling guaranteed for 1080p monitors. But if devs put in more effort we'll get to see 1080p versions without supersampling but with improved graphics or framerates instead.

>I think developers will beg Sony to let them just develop a game for the PRO only
That makes no sense. Why would any dev beg sony to allow them to spend extra resources so that they can develop a more expensive game exclusive to a much, much smaller consumer base?

By the end of the year PS4 will have sold 50 to 60 million units. And if we are veeery positive on PS4pro, it will sell ~5million. That % between PS4 to PS4pro will remain the same throughout the generation. Even if PS4pro blows up and in 4 years time it's a 50% split between the two versions (this will never happen) that developer would still be ignoring 50% of the market by making a PS4pro exclusive game

>You wont be able to play it on a hd tv
wrong
>you need a 4k tv
wrong
>if no VR no point
wrong

If you are misinformed try not to misinform others too.

kek so many retards will fall for this

For a tiny improvement in graphic and framerate.
Sadly I'll have to have to buy a ps4 pro because I been waiting for ff xv forever.

But VR is for fucbois

You should've gotten a PC.

>I don't have a 4K UHD TV (But plan on getting one next year)
Careful Tyrone you don't want to end up behind bars before the ps4pro is released now do you?

Downsampling is the coolest shit ever user, 1440p and 4k on a 1080p display usually look better than native res assuming the downscaler isn't trash.
