>Japanese PC games gets a console release
>it is significantly enhanced while the PC version stays obsolete

so get the ps4 verison or the Steam one. I don't know the history of the game

nigga if it's locked for PC do you not think it's probably locked for PS4
let's be real

is it any good?

It's on PC too. Please find a console war thread and stay there.

why the fuck would you care about FPS on a game where every single action is turn based?

One Way Heroics Plus on PC is still the better version.

Is Dosey still best girl?

how many people still play this? i keep forgetting i have it

I heard OWH+ has better mechanics anyway.

She will always be.

I wonder if the new game still has someone that can translate for her.

She's the only returning character, apparently.

EVERY THREAD
Has anyone played the Vita version? I just want portable OWH.

It's probably about the same on all platforms. All things considered I'd say this would make a great portable version of the game. For PC though you already have OWH+ which is better.

I'm mainly concerned about frame drops/bugs/crashes.
I can deal with 30fps lock, but I don't want any of that.

Warning about this game, the vault updates on the results screen, so dying during a run will automatically update it.

>inb4 using vault

>using vault
You inb4'd it, but still. At least tell me you don't save.

Sadly it's shit. The only improvement is 16:9 and art.

Play the original, it's way way better

I've never even made a save file in the base and +, but from what I hear about traps, I might consider it for the new game.

I think most of the bugs/crashes are just the usual Japan sucking at PC ports.

...

Doggo waifu the best waifu. Caretaker waifu in the new version is SHIT.

>Caretaker waifu

Who is that, the replacement Iris?

You get to choose between a waifu or husbando right outside the castle, both of which are your old caretakers according to the plot. They're both weaker than soldier D though.

Also, they have no special bonuses from the dialogue or anything remotely unique. A total waste of time.

Also it's a fucking idiotic design choice always having 2 story related companions waiting for you at the exit of the castle.

I would understand having two generic companions being there everytime, but now I feel compelled to recruit them anyway just because I can, and I always end up being locked in their ending.

Fuck this game seriously, they took one step ahead and 10 backwards

Nami has a cute smile.

That's it.

should I buy it not. PS4 demo was ok

Wasn't this game a game that didn't originally have anything to do with the dev aside from blatantly stealing the sprites, characters and classes from it?

No, buy the original One Way Heroics instead.

Nah, impossible that they don't have anything to do with the original One Way Heroics.

Otherwise they wouldn't have used One Way Heroics in the title

They simply tried to do a better remake of a fantastic indie game

and failed miserably

I know, I remember reading about some drama involving this game and people in japan saying they were only using the OWH name because they were caught red handed

They got the dev's okay to make their own version so they didn't steal anything.

It doesn't seem nearly as charming or good as plus though

In that case fuck Spike Chunsoft, but the original creator, Smoking Wolf, is somehow trying to advertise the new OWH on his site

silversecond.net/

Also, on the Spike Chunsoft twitter I read that MC: OWH is the game of the two "Danganronpa creators", so either Smoking Wolf is them going indie or they're fat liars.

That's disappointing to hear. I heard the game has like dozens of companions, are they all like that?

I hope Smoking Wolf makes a OWH++ or something.

What could he even add now? I wish he would make a new game or something

gematsu.com/2015/03/fushigi-no-chronicle-announced-for-ps4-ps-vita

tl;dr, devs made their own version of OWH with permission from Smoking Wolf because they didn't want to sell a free game on consoles

I think most of the games Smoking Wolf makes doesn't get translated.

Companion Albert is apparently a cameo from one of those games.

Also, there's a tabletop RPG for OWH. Of course, it isn't translated.

Wait what? How does it even work?

Yeah, only knew it existed because I randomly saw a thread on /tg/ for it. I don't even regularly browse /tg/ or any boards next to it, it was quite a coincidence.

boards.fireden.net/tg/thread/48965376/#49114904

Battle Preparation: Aggregates the stats of the monsters. Defense value only (highest value + # of additional monsters.) Players collectively decide to attack or escape.

Decision to Attack: PCs attack independently. When using weapons, use STR level. When using force, use INT level. The target value is the monster's DEF.

Attack Success: Calculate damage. Weapon damage + level, or; force damage + level. PCs fighting together increase damage via goodwill / favors (?). Critical hits add 2d6 to damage. Counterattack damage is not taken when attacking. If damage done by the players exceeds the monsters LIFE, victory is achieved without taking damage. If not, the players still achieve victory, but take counterattack damage and expend 2 ST.

Attack Failure: Take counterattack damage and expend 2 ST. If a player succeeded in his attack, victory is achieved. If no player succeeds, the battle is failed.

Fighting the Demon King: Calculate the damage from successful PC attacks. Subtract this from the LIFE of the "Demon King." If this is below zero, victory is achieved. Otherwise, the battle continues. Each PC receives counterattack damage and loses one ST. They may then choose whether to attack or escape.

Victory: Collect experience, receive drops.
Failure: Collect experience, expend 2 ST.

Decision to Escape: Select one party member to escape. Other party members assist. Choose a level to escape with. The target is is the monster's DEF.

Escape Success: If the monster's counterattack damage has the "long distance" property, each PC receives counterattack damage. Half experience is awarded.

Escape Failure: Players lose 4 ST and receive counterattack damage. Half experience is awarded.

Holy shit thats awesome

They do have their unique dialogues, story and special abilities.

They still feel like plain as fuck and uninteresting characters tho.

Do any characters in the game have special interaction dialogue?

OWH+ brought up a bit of it.

Not that I know

I wish this was improved version of OWH+, instead it's a mechanically worse version of OWH vanilla with some cool new features and alot of OC companions (with boring, linear dialogues).

how do i get gud at one way heroics plus
I suck so bad and die to random crap

Don't play on maniac.

Wear armor. Good armor. And a shield.

Avoid fighting things with a star on their head unless you're pretty damn sure you can win but always have an escape.

Don't wander into labyrinths carelessly.

Just keep playing.

How do I unlock ninja in One Way Heroics Plus?

Do the ninja quest? All the Plus classes are unlocked by doing their respective unlock quests.

How do I unlock the ninja quest?

I'm glad I got this on the vita. I tried it on steam and it was slow as molasses. On the vita it has strangely long loading times, but beyond that it is okay.

To forewarn OWH players,I think most of the C costumes that you unlock are recolored companions, which I find really lazy. I miss lizard pirate something fierce.

Also, the new companions seem lacking compared to the old ones, outside of best dog-girl. Also, if you pick the dude at the beginning, the chick dies during one of the relationship up conversations.

Lastly, your old companions from OWH do show up in the OWH unlock quest, but as NPCs. Without portraits. And they changed the name of Panty Shot to Panti for reasons beyond me.

The original is more charming and has a better framerate, and better music.

The remake has more classes and generally more polish from having a budget.

They're the same game, though, and $8 is about right for the price of the remake. It's just a cheesy little coffee break 'roguelike.'
