I also had a $500 AMD "gaming" laptop. It really wasn't too bad. It had a dedicated grafix that could crossfire with the integrated. It served me well and could play a lot of games on medium settings at 720p. It's dead now unfortunately. Built a proper desktop now. But nothing beats a laptop when I was in college. Invaluable.

My only PC at the moment is a T420. Planning on getting a cheapo GPU to make a eGPU for it, then I'll upgrade the RAM to 8 or 16GB.

Once I get more disposable income I'll make a full PC, but at the moment my T420 plays anything I want to pirate at the moment, so I'm not in a rush.

Not gonna lie though, I'm a huge retard when it comes to OSes and trying to burn a Win 7 .iso to a flash drive using Ubuntu has got me so fucked up that I'm going to buy Windows 10 tomorrow.

I'm sure a flash drive would have been simpler but I just harvested the CD drive from my old comp to load windows and wound up leaving the CD drive in. Haven't used it since

I move between house and apartment every week so I cant be bothered to carry around a PC

user, there are much easier ways to get the win7 iso. Microsoft stopped hosting it, but there are plenty of mirrors.

I had one before. Even 2 years later this laptop is doing very well, and I just drop some graphics options down to med if I want fps back up to 60.

The main thing I miss is just screen size

Why would that even matter? People laugh at gaming laptops because they still think that you cant "game on laptops" not because they are expensive. Fact is that they provide performance that is almost as good.

I have a desktop capable of running video games, but I do not call it a gaming desktop

I use a laptop that I got refurbished for about 500 quid 3 years ago for uni. It can still play new games on med settings so I'm happy. I travel a lot for work so it's not worth getting a desktop
