slightly less shit

my videos are too meh
youtube.com/watch?v=_6vqFgEASx8

My pocket's looking kind of tight, and I'm stressed.

Why does Youtube require my cell phone number to make an account?

This shit again?

Go shill on Reddit with the rest of the cancer.

I'm trying hard to make a quality video to start off with. Unfortunately I have no experience with editing, so working on it is hard. Gotta perservere, though.

So the Feds can track your viewing history

I've been thinking of emulating the sequelitis style to make really short summaries of long video games with convoluted plots. Bloodborne, kingdom hearts, all the final fantasy games, the whole dark souls series, stuff like that.

Reference video:
youtu.be/8FpigqfcvlM

The sad thing is if you're loud and obnoxious enough, can make cute little drawing with exaggerated expressions, it'll probably make you famous.

You mean the NSA?

Fuck you

Dude, you posted way too early, the mods are still awake.

Could be worse, I guess.

THE BEST
youtube.com/watch?v=ownaVK0KS-o

Things are chugging along. Started LPing the Momodora games and got the first one uploaded.

My Channel: youtube.com/channel/UC4T8Cfv4_Co3-bWQVetwNHw

Current LPs:
Momodora: youtube.com/watch?v=vU9oLdG45pM

Oxenfree: youtube.com/watch?v=HwbfvltTemo

Brothers A Tale of Two Sons: youtube.com/watch?v=FZmZ5pqSsdc

Still trying

The only way I'm going to get my channel off the ground is by hanging myself.

eh.
youtube.com/watch?v=iW9k8Ix_yE0

I rarely post videos until FUCKING TOMORROW THE MUSICAL STARTS UP AGAIN FUCK YEAH THIS YEAR I'M GOING TO DO A BUTTFUCKLOAD OF VIDEOS FOR IT

are you even 18?

I think you'd be better off avoiding personal on-screen time. Your body language is forced and visibly insecure, your camera quality is shit, and the mic isn't great either.
If you used a proper mic to record voiceovers and opted for some simply shitty drawings for the visual I think your channel could be alright, albeit uninteresting. My biggest problem with that video wasn't that you're awkward and uncomfortable (you are) it was just really boring. There's not really a lot of personality to the review, and you're not really saying anything new, basically just reiterating what everyone already knows about the franchise. Try to work on more unique perspectives and observations so that people actually have a reason to watch it.

Hope this feels constructive and helpful, user. Keep producing.

i like this

Thanks man, appreciate the compliment greatly :)

I turn 20 in 10 days!
Actually workin on getting that new mic. I need to lay off the screentime because I'm not good at remembering the lines and cant keep eye contact, AND i'm just not pleasurable to look at. Like, I really need to FACE it, my FACE is not for Youtube, or anyone's viewing.

youtube.com/watch?v=JpQcsOJcUDQ

I kinda stopped after a while, but I want to get back into editing. I just feel like funny-moment-compilation channels are a dime a dozen, I don't particularly like watching them myself, and I don't personally bring anything too new or interesting to the table.

I'd like to start doing some deeper, longer videos analyzing game theory and game design but that takes way more effort and I'm so tired after work every day.

>my FACE is not for Youtube, or anyone's viewing.
Don't look at it this way, your attractiveness is not the reason your facetime is bad. There are plenty of ugly youtubers who pull it off. MetalJesusRocks for example is a little cringy to look at at first, but he has great screen presence and pulls it off anyway.

Why would I do that? I have an actual job and actual hobbies.

Somehow managed to get up to 44 subscribers.

youtube.com/watch?v=LYL6wcGFxpg

Not too bad.

Liar. You're posting on a Filipino dick hiding forum about how you're too mature to do something.

>about how you're too mature to do something.
I guess you could assume that but the true its I dont have time for it.

>been on YT for 10 years
>35 subs

Still very much on the ground, but I'm having a blast. My vids try to take a somewhat analytical route while still maintaining pace and some sense of self-aware humor, for christ's sake we're just playing vidya. I dislike over-pretentious analysis channels almost as much as autistic LP's (almost).

Here's a roast I did on the BF1 Beta, really an embarrassing game.
youtu.be/qBF00AN-bvA

This is my negative breakdown on No Man's Sky, this vid seems to be a lot more popular than the others.
youtu.be/QkxeTdspshw

And this is my Earth Defense Force video, a more positive take than most of my videos. Still my personal favorite, especially the thumbnail.
youtu.be/YuYoL6lWBfw

I think my next video will be the about the decline of the Mecha genre, then after that an in-depth look at RE4's level design.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Yo biggie let me get the vest

I didn't start uploading anything until about 2 months ago.

>35 subs

HAHA I'm not even a content producer and I have 78 subs.

Genuinely enjoyed the battlefield 1 video, great work dude hope you get some recognition

youtu.be/bnoYeKM9JmQ

Hit 5k views some how.

Its a relatively new, widely played, hip game that gets all the teenyboppers clackin' away on their iphones googling youtube videos on facebook.

Reposting my in-depth video review / analysis of the original METROID for those, who are interested:
youtube.com/watch?v=N1AVd_vd7lc
Unfortunately, I havn't yet come around to finishing the METROID II review, as I've spend a lot of time with my family, which needed my support.

Also some stuff from my other, "private" channel, which I've never shared here before:

Enjoy!

Thanks senpai, just trying to spread sanity, critical standards, and cheap jokes to all the people that still care about vidya being good.

Yeah but it's not the first video our whole group of friends upload for the sake of making each other laugh this one just blew up over 4 days

i cant get used to doing any commentary

>first 30 secs of vid
hey this isn't bad, nice music, comfy gameplay, noting autistic

>voice comes on
ohgodwhy

user I hate to be blunt, but you're likely never going to have a career on youtube with that voice. Also nothing you said was terribly insightful.

Maybe you should just stick to funny gameplay with captions.

For two part authentication to prevent your account from being hijacked via password guessing/brute force.

I've seen people with worse voices get recognition for analytical videos like this desu.

glorious

Pretty much the only way to get a gaming channel off the floor is to be relevant to the current trend of gaming i.e. for right now it might be vids about One Mans Lie. Either that or have some viral vid bring in traffic to your site that becomes a meme.

Mainly because I'm not an attention whoring teenager. Also because I'm lazy and have no talent. But mainly the first one.

Kinda, been just sticking to making random videos.
I just finished editing a video from PAX West 2016 where I played against some "pro" players at the intel booth and found out they were shit talking me during their stream.

youtube.com/watch?v=BatLKQcgE2A

What's with the weird, seemingly random, over-exaggerated inflections in your voice acting? It's really fucking annoying, if you talked more conversationally it would be easier to listen to.

It would also help if you didn't talk like someone who forms his opinions by reading Sup Forums all day. Very obvious.

Got to 5K subs back in 2014ish, stopped cause I got bored with it even though I only had 7 videos.

Never looked back.

Or cater to 5 year olds with minecraft videos.

I know my voice can be grating on some ears, but like this user said, I've seen far worse voices make it a lot farther. For what it's worth, I'm working on my vocals, I have a bit of range but shitty control. My voice isn't as high irl, but once I get behind the mic, anxiety knocks me up an octave.

Thanks user, never been called glorious before.

Did it make you any money?

>have decent idea for series of discourses on various vidya
>don't want to spend hundreds of hours capturing my own gameplay footage

Ugh

Read I just have shitty vocal control that I'm trying to work on. I've been on Sup Forums for about ten years, so the reason you think I sound like I form my opinions here is because I've been pushing my opinions here daily for a literal decade.

>analytical videos like this
That's being generous. You're just stating the obvious and regurgitating what everyone already thinks. Your production itself is decent, your recording quality is great, voice acting isn't very good but it gets the job done, but it's quite apparent you spend a lot of time on Sup Forums, and I don't mean that in a good way. Also, some of the on-screen text edits didn't really make sense to me, seemed unnecessary, or were just annoying.

I think World of Longplays allows you to use their footage as long as you link to the original video and mention it in yours.

Ya, made about 600 or so. If you do go into it the one piece of advice I can give you is to target a large genre for new games. Escape from Tarkov is coming out soon for the public and if you make pvp videos about that while showing skillful play, I'm sure you could make a lot of views. I did that for various survival games and made dumb montages of myself taking on others or groups of players.

youtube.com/watch?v=SZGkzLkBK9o you can check it out if you wanna, not very good. Would appreciate any thoughts. I know it's shit.

Are you french?

How powerful of a computer do you need for this shit? Livestreaming in particular. Also what's the quality standards of videos these days? Obviously Webcam tier is out of the question.

Sounds like a mighty initial investment.

>the reason you think I sound like I form my opinions here is because I've been pushing my opinions here daily for a literal decade.
Are you implying the reason you sound like every opinion on Sup Forums is because you have that much influence on Sup Forums as a whole? You're fucking delusional, kiddo. Your script is literally full of Sup Forums buzzwords and nuances, it's fucking obnoxious and makes you less relatable.

Keep practicing your voiceover, try to make it sound more like you're talking to a close friend of yours. Don't read the script while doing the voice over, either. Keep it in mind as a reference, but otherwise just go loosely based off of memory to make it sound more genuine.

That's not me famulus, this is me
I addressed all the other points except the text edits. Yeah, they're a bit unnecessary, but hey, text edits are fun.

But I'm shit at video games...

Are you hot?

I know I never will but my friend back home looks like he is doing great.

youtube.com/watch?v=YyOiVXESMkc

tfw everyone back home is doing better than you

The closest thing to a compliment I've gotten about my looks is that I look really young.

I'm only 22, so I guess I look like a child.

You could be ironically bad at video games, like making a montage video to "Let the bodies hit the floor" where you miss every shot.

>vidya kino
Christ...

German, my friend.
Watching all these videos right now. Great content!

No, I'm saying Sup Forums is a place that magnetizes like-minded people, and me having been here so long, people that talk and think like me are deeply rooted in the Sup Forums consciousness. We've been here for ages, so people conform over time. It's more like a key few thousand people have strong influence over this board.

Kino is a fun word, what can I say. I don't even like Sup Forums

I'll take the conversational advice to heart, I am trying to work on my voiceover authenticity.

Any feedback on this?

Welp, comedy could be a good idea. Study comedy on Youtube, I mean the videos that talk about it. That's your only hope user - or getting gud.

>trying to get into the most oversaturated thing on youtube in 2016

Thanks man, I hope you enjoy!

Not that guy, but this video has a pretty interesting conversation on comedy.

youtube.com/watch?v=OKY6BGcx37k

>"A nose adapted in the Gallapagos Islands for crackin' open coconuts"

It is over saturated, but it also has the biggest audience.

i gave reviews a shot.

You guys need to know how to promote yourselves. You think just posting a video on Youtube and linking it on Reddit once will do anything? Half the people here probably don't even do any type of self promotion whichs leads us to people have

50,000 views a day. If my math is correct, that is what someone like me would need to get to live comfortably in the Midwest off of ad revenue alone. Reach the 50,000 a day goal with me, Sup Forums.

Good job man, now get to 100,000. Keep it up.

ca- can you give me some advice?

If I could just make enough to pay off my student debt, and then my channel tanked for some reason.

I'd be so fucking happy.

Just do it. Ideas are dogshit since anyone who cares can look this info up online. It's a really common idea so you'll have to find a unique way to present the idea in a charismatic, shareable way. There's nothing to critique because the value you create would almost entirely be in the delivery of your ideas. Sequelitis at least produces unique, if flawed, insights into games that are sequenced in a way that's entertaining and educational to people new to game design formalism. Your idea is just to make summaries of existing plot. There's nothing to critique, do some work.

>shilling on ribbit

Not the above poster, but one thing I've suggested before is to make things specifically for certain websites, and then use that as a platform to advertise yourself to them once your creations go viral. I work with 3d animations and have made it to the front page of imgur multiple times over the years. I didn't have my channel when I was making posts to their website so I had nothing to advertise, but the things I've posted have gotten over a million views combined. They seem pretty okay with you shilling yourself there as long as you wait until you get to the front page to edit your post and put a link to your youtube channel.

No, my vids are still shit

youtube.com/watch?v=YgjFjtkoW1s

>red circles with arrows pointing

what are you buzzfeed?

Getting just one video to blow up on reddit pretty much guarantees a decent audience though.

I feel like people don't have time to play as many games as I do so I'm currently working in some scripts for a people with no free time to still feel like they played/experienced a game without spending more than 10-15 min, preferably closer to 10.

Momodora has a really nice balance of sound from the game, but your audio is pretty echo-y and low quality. Could be worth investing in a better mic and such.

I think the stuff you said in the beginning is important for you to consider. Plan it out: what do you think is important in your let's plays: Commentary or showcasing the game? How will you create a cozy environment with what you say? You've got potential, you should watch your own stuff and think about how to improve. Once you get in that groove it'll be easier to produce more content/commentary.

my best videos seem to be bad company 2 videos

meh

I'm going to be honest user, are you going for a type of discount Game Grumps deal here? Make your Youtube channel however you want but the only way you're going to get away with playing older games and then further more have no actual editing except splicing in intros and such, you're probably not going to get very far if you don't actually put in effort to be comedic and enticing. It sounds more like two bros having fun playing a game and ignoring the viewer than the caster playing the game with the viewer. I mean there isn't just one single formula you can go with that is absolutely the right way. From Game Grumps to Videogamedunkey, to PewDiePie there are a ton of variations inbetween these types of videos. I'm sure you could find relative success doing what you're doing but I personally would use it as background noise. Like I said before, you either need to be witty and comedic, great at editing, super resourceful in providing gameplay that people want (silent gameplays, new trailers, news gaming channels), or skillful. You can mix these up for anything that you do with some of each, but just remember that the bottom line is if you can make yourself or your channel seem helpful, friendly, or cool to the viewer you can find a lot more success than what you're doing now.
