DMC is one of Capcom's flagship title. Look at how barren Sony's conference was last night.

No. As I said, it is doubtful that Capcom would announce their flagship title in a literally who low key steam like that.

The silver lining is that Itsuno's working on something. Capcom doesn't do 3-4 years dev cycle anymore, so soon enough Itsuno had to reveal what he had been working on

He's got something in the works. It might be DMC5, it might be DD2, he might have gotten lucky and scored a fresh IP. In any case, stay hyped.

Let's check the timeline. We know Itsuno's working on a new project this new year. That means that he only had like 3-4 months to show for this year's E3. I was one of the naysayer and I was right. Next E3 he would've 1.5 years to show for, so next E3 is very likely. Capcom is doing 2.5 years dev cycle max, and they're learning their lesson from announcing game too early. If it was announced next E3, DMC5 probably come out in like Spring 2018 which fits the dev cycle timeline.

Just for comparison, it takes 1 full year to touch up and make DMC4SE according to Kobayashi

isn't capcom hurting for money right now? I remember reading their overall profits have declined massively over the past few years, they're in really bad shape compared to the capcom of 10 years ago. Isn't this why they're using that photography rendering method for RE7? So that they can shorten the dev time as much as possible and not spend loadsa cash on rendering/animation work?

I just don't think capcom is in the position of releasing expensive multi-year long dev cycle games anymore. The only thing they've actually put out this gen that isn't recycled assets is SF5...and that shit was released unfinished. Even if DMC5/DD2 is announced, there's just no way capcom can deliver anymore

But then again, Capcom hasn't shat in our mouth in the last 1.5 years or so. MH4U, MH Generations, RE1 remake, RE0 remake, DMC4SE, DmC:DE, RE:Revelations 2, and SFV were all pretty good. DMC doesn't need to have cutting edge graphics, heck I'll be fine if it has DMC4 graphics & engine but new assets and enemies

Nero could probably carry his own game with an expanded moveset, but Dante mains would be miffed; Dante is also the face of the series.

Considering that Capcom's trying to win back fan trust, the safe bet is we'll see Dante as the protag. I'd even go so far as to say they'll likely pander and give us playable Vergil, regardless of whether he's involved in the actual story.

Okay real talk guys. Here is the only timeslot where DMC5 MIGHT get announced.

September 17th 16:40-17:00 Tokyo time.

They're bringing in Kobayashi, who was the producer for DMC, DMC4, DMC4SE, Dragon's Dogma and DMC anime. They had 20 minutes for "ending" which kind of a long time to babble around. This is literally your only chance for DMC5 to be announced this TGS. Saves yourself some pain from watching other Capcom streams.

People who think that Capcom gonna announce DMC5 in the 5 minutes "talk" slot between RE games are out of their mind.

But then again, I personally think next E3 is more likely than this TGS

Beowulf? No way. Force Edge maaaaaybe if the new weapon is devil-tier. Nevan would make zero sense for Vergil for instance. Both personality and gameplay wise.

However, I'd rather they just give him a new DT look and that's it.

I wish they could retcon Vergil fighting Mundus as soon as he landed down to the lake of blood after 3. I wanted to see Vergil's tour of hell before he got to Mundus. Maybe see what that damn zweihander he's got as Nelo can really do.

Probably doubtful, unless Deep Down ends up officially canned and Sony feels they want to get something back in return from Capcom (Since they approached Capcom over it originally and had Japan Studio personnel working on it).

Realistically, at worst it'd be a SFV scenario and Sony'd fund marketing and partial development in exchange for it not being on the Xbone.

Perhaps the main reason I'm excited for DMC5 is that I understand the potential that Nero has. Give him a new exceed weapon to switch in the R2 button that was useless for him in 4 and expand his core Devil Bringer abilities. There you go, a terrific action game character that'll live on for ages.

There no need to give him a full DT transformation as many people want since Nero is quater-demon and his current one has become iconic.

I'm only saying swap out Beowulf because 4SE had that, Gilgamesh, and Trish. Gauntlets are a staple and all, but they pumped in so many moves to each character that at they started to feel same-y. If they don't swap it out, they should at least diversify the moveset and make one and another feel entirely different. Maybe give Dante a brawler style, and Vergil has faster, wuxia type attacks.

And using Nevan justifies itself. It's a fucking electric scythe guitar.

Before SE came out for 4, I always thought Nero's DT was completely "separate" from him and that projection was basically Vergil's soul/will fighting with him. Whether or not that's true or not, I still loved the after-image effect and how it mirrored your attacks, shit was the coolest.

Its not just about just DMC. The announcement of DMC5 would mean that there is hope for games in general. Nowadays it's all about "immersive experiences garbage". There hasn't been a single good hack & slash this gen other than perhaps Bayo 2. Think about that.
