After playing today and having nearly all of my deaths result from a random aoe qs I came to a realization. qs are braindead to use and don't give enemy players much of an opportunity to avoid them. If I'm going down a pathway and a roadhog pops out from behind a corner and qs I can't really do shit. I know a little teamwork comes in when you combine qs for greater effect but other than that there is very little skill involved in most of them.

Sprint away with soldier
Dash away or deflect it with genji
Stun with McRee or Ana
Block the damage with all tanks
Fly away as D.Va or Pharah
Boost away as Lucio
Ice wall as Mei
Phantom away as Reaper
Hook away as Widowmaker
Fly towards an ally as Mercy
Thats over half the cast that lets you do something to deal with Qs. You not utilizing your options isn't anyone's problem but your own.

Including what the above poster has stated, you also need to perform your Q's efficiently while making other characters waste their Q's. Your individual ability to do this, (and you don't need a good team to do this, it's really individually) will make wins more common for you to climb enough to the point where your teammates will be doing the same thing. You should watch some of your teammates block and counters Q's while combing there's to see where the real skill in this game goes.

There's an animation delay before it fires but when it fires, it's a hitscan check. It's not a fast projectile that flies for 10ms and then grabs the first thing it hits. It's a fucking hitscan check.

You press the 'Q' key to activate your ultimate once it has charged. OP doesn't realize that the game is based around managing ultimate charge and coordinating them wisely with your teammates to make successful plays.

It is hitscan, it just doesn't seems like so because the scan is done with a short delay after pushing the button, it's done right when the hook leaves road's hand, that's why you can make Tracers or Genjis warp back to where they were if they used a blink or charge during the travel time of the hook.

Even if hanzo or widow has gold or silver it doesn't mean jack shit since youre standing 5 light years away from the objective.

Dva, Rein and Zarya can block
Different Roadhog can hook
Winston can jump away (his shiled is too weak to block this)
Lucio can push away
Mercy can fly away
Ana can put the guy to sleep

Majority of classes has some response to the 'can't do shit' situation you listed and pretty much the only one that don't are 3 snipers (counting zenyatta as one), two guys who should be camping in some corner with their turrets or themselves and keep Roadhog away. The only 2 characters that really can't do shit are Soldier and Symmetra.
