too puffy

THIS guy, holy fucking shit.

>beat DMC1 as a kid
>return to it years later thanks to the HD collection
>must have beaten it on Easy, because holy fucking shit
>die over and over again to this fucking asshole
>manage to do it eventually but can't help but wonder just how the hell Kamiya and his team were able to get away with making one of the first real 3D action games so fucking hard

If you died at least once to him, uninstall right now

...

This bitch right here.

I am able to beat Devil May Cry 3 on very hard mode and yet it took me 30 minutes of trying to kill that fucker on just normal

Are you me?

I'd already beaten DMC3:SE pretty much up to that point when I decided to give DMC1 another go.

Somehow I just forgot how to fight that motherfucker. The dude only really has one (or two if you count his abdomen and his head as two separate areas) weak spot and it's guarded up most of the time. A lot of the time, it's almost impossible to beat him without taking at least a bit of damage.

And then there's other bullshit, like Nightmare or Griffon 2.

>wonder just how the hell Kamiya and his team were able to get away with making one of the first real 3D action games so fucking hard
I guess those were the days before retards were hired for playtesting and publishers insisted on games being made for the widest audience possible?

>I guess those were the days before retards were hired for playtesting and publishers insisted on games being made for the widest audience possible?
It was a different time.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more amazed I am by that game. It's so good, yet so brutally difficult.

>DMC1 is the only DMC with enemy execution animations

It was kinda neat, I wonder why they never did them again

...

...

When I was 11 or 12, there was a PS2 in my house, but with no memory card for a while. I basically played the start of the game every day until I finally got to those sewers or whatever and put the console in standby when we went out to get a memory card finally. From what I remember, I got pretty fast at beating that boss.

only without the music box

I prefer 3/4 but DMC1 did a lot of really cool things that have been missing from the series since.

>dat atmosphere
>an actually consistently good OST
>more dynamic enemy AI
>scripted scenarios and more natural transitions to and fro boss fights

r u srs m8, i watched my friend beat that nigga playing with his feet.

It's been over a decade since I last played it, so I can't even remember those, but I would assume they interrupt the flow of the game too much, especially with how much more CUHRAZY the rest of the games get.

Considering they're death animations, they wouldn't interrupt the flow of the game too much.

All they would need to do is make them shorter, basically a quick, short little, "Fuck you!" animation where the enemy really fucks up your character in a really cool way to make you motivated to git gud. They could be like Halo 4/5's assassinations or MKX's brutalities, only lasting like a second or two at most.

I'm not begging for them to come back, but it'd be kinda cool, at least.

Nah, those are animations the enemies do when they kill you, not the other way around.

Doesn't slow down anything unless you fuck up and die.

>DMC2 and DMC3
>not having a consistently good OST

>DMC2
I haven't played DMC2 since it came out and never beat it, in fact.
>DMC3
Had a mostly shitty, forgettable OST outside of maybe 4-5 songs.

i haven't played 2, but 3 has some undeniably shit tracks. And I kinda like the battle themes in a cheesy way but they get reused wayyyyyyy too much

...

>And I kinda like the battle themes in a cheesy way but they get reused wayyyyyyy too much
They're not even that good, honestly. I like them, but they're kinda 'ehh.' Everyone just remembers them because they're played EVERYWHERE.

Oh, do you mean animations for when enemies kill you? I thought you meant the other way around. My bad.

Can someone explain to me what the problem was and how people got around it? I literally don't remember this part at all so I must never have had trouble with it

Yep, that's what I meant.

It's a pretty superfluous design element though. It's not something that absolutely needs to come back but it's always a neat touch to show that they put a lot of effort into the game.

Yeah, I kind of have a vague memory of them. They were pretty cool, I think. Just seeing them really fuck you up after beating you makes it feel like more of a defeat than just falling over regardless of how you died.

Since it's around the middle of the game, people would be used to running against the wall and then jump towards the lampstand, which will cause Ezio to jump off the tower instead.

The way to do it is that you walk along the ledge and in front of the lamp then jump, a mechanic that wasn't needed before and was never shown.

This fucker

except he is like 9/10ths of the way into the game

...

If you died once in Demon's Souls, leave this board right now.

Shadow Jago (as in, the secret boss, not in normal gameplay) is hard as fuck when you're not used to fighting pumped up Killer difficulty AI

Hahaha, epic!

I'l always recognize my favorite FPS

He's also not difficult since the worst thing he can do is a single target attack that will only KO a single character if you allowed the field to be all white.

But something you've got to realize is that a lot of people on Sup Forums are inordinately bad at JRPGs somehow, despite them being fairly easy games overall.

OH SHIT IT'S JUDGEMENT DAY

If you play Assassin's Creed, you're a fucking casual, agreed.

my nigga

also Jaylor in dark athena. he was a tough nigga

...

not casual filter.

>super boss that can be one shot by yojimbo
besides its not a casual filter, casual filter implies something that makes you give up before you get very far into the game

You probably won't hear much about him, though, because casuals won't play Apocalypse.

sup.

...

devil may cry 1 wasn't really that hard, at least I never had any problem with it outside of its highest difficulty i guess.

you are probably one of those people that thinks souls games are hard, if you want hard play the 360 version of ninja gaiden 2, that's hard, enjoy having to abuse iframes as a legitimate game strategy to not die ever

>abusing i-frames
>dodging shit is now abusing something.

Step the fuck up gaylord, I bet you used the claws as well you prancing faggot.

>tfw SMT IV Final bosses learned to abuse buffs and debuffs

That's not Nightmare

...

This game is casual filter enough.

...

good game but easy boss
