How the hell do I beat the final boss? I'm lvl 35 and he is fucking with me all the time, my best try is 1/4 of his up down.

I love this game but some of the design decisions really fucking bug me.

How good is the first Dead Rising compared to the second?

I'm having a blast, it feels more like a proper survival game cause there is no combo weapons, also I like the way you are rewarded for taking photos at the right moment, you even have to change batteries every 30 photos and there is cool sidequest including making photos.

I'd say they're equal with their own strengths and weaknesses. Dead Rising 2 is more comedic and has a much greater variety of weapons. Dead Rising 1 is less of an outright parody and has a way better story.

The first game is great, I still liked the second better due to the weapon crafting and the improved survivor mechanics, but the first game is still frustratingly great. The survivor AI is horrible, but the game is still very fun and campy, with some great psychopaths.

Gameplay-wise, I think it is a little worse. Partially because of the absolutely braindead survivor AI (I think the AI is even worse in this version, oddly enough) and some small annoyances with how missions are done.

However, I like the lack of combo weapons and relying more on what you find VS making a overpowered beastly weapon like DR2 and 3. I like the layout more of DR1 as well, and the story in DR2 is a little more annoying to play through.

It might seem small by todays standards/open world shit, but I kind of like it the way it is.

DR1 is still the best in the franchise, it's crazy.

Is DR2 worth playing if I already played OTR?

Yeah. Chuck is a likeable protagonist and it's a fun game.

I'm guessing this is easier to play on PC thanks to mouse controls? Aiming a gun was completely terrible on console, you kinda had to stick to melee.

I keep getting distracted by achievements. Well that and I ran out of time for a mission so I just left the game running standing on the helipad so I could get outdoorsman.

Its alright on PC. I didn't have that much of a harder time on controllers though. The mouse sensitivity in the game is all wacky so I had to tweak that a bunch before it was playable.

Got the first book from where the Japanese guys are then escorted everyone back while swinging the saws like crazy. Only found out that there were two other books 20 minutes later, so I assume they lost a lot of their durability. Still served me well though.

too easy and entirely brown graphics. i never died once. boring city that is annoying to navigate with all the clutter and barricades on the roads. "nightmare" mode still gives you too much time.

Once I let the first survivor die, the game became so much less stressful. Besides Carlito in the tunnels. Fuck everything about that mission.
Once the pressure of the "perfect run" is gone, I felt like I was free. Same thing happens with Persona S Links.

DR1 runs on a much better engine because it was made by capcom and not some random bunch of canadians that can't program, so it controls better outside of the intentionally inconvenient shooting controls

frank starts out weak as shit but becomes really strong as you level up and do NG+, he has a bunch of really useful moves that the later games just don't have

photography is a great mechanic and DR in general encourages you to explore more and try everything because you can't just build overpowered combo weapons whenever you want

the game is "frustrating" because it creates tension by making you escort intentionally dumb AI characters through fields of zombies while under a time limit to continue with the story, something that became less and less of a thing with each sequel, but if you just want a casual zombie murder experience there's nothing stopping you from telling all the survivors (or the entire plot after the first 10 minutes) to go fuck themselves and just hang out in the mall for 72 in game hours. Or failing that, you can realize that the game expects you to be unable to save everyone or even most people until you do NG+

Story is pretty weak and EVERYTHING is easier. Even on the strict time limit mode (Nightmare mode I think its called) you have time to do basically everything, the combo weapons get retardedly powerful, weapon closets at every safe house let you just keep spawning any combo weapon you've made, combo vehicles. That said it is still fun to coop and mechanically its really solid.
