Starcraft (1998)

>Starcraft (1998)
>Starcraft: Brood War (1998)
arguably the best RTS ever made
>Diablo 2 (2000)
>Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (2001)
Arguably the best action rpg ever made
>Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002)
>Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (2003)
top class RTS with the best level editor ever made, spawning the modern day TD, MOBAs, among others
>World of Warcraft (2004)
>World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (2007)
One of the best mmorpgs ever made

Is there a single greater streak by another game developer?

If only they didnt sell out ;_;

you forgot

>Warcraft II (1995)

i would have also added Diablo but Lost Vikings was inbetween

Only one I really disagree with is brood war. C&C games were much better and actually had interesting units and single players.

I disagree about SC and BW, everything else is correct.
It's funny how both Valve and Blizzard went to shit at around the same time.

starcraft isn't the best RTS ever made.
It was simply a well polished one taking place in a unique setting.

Also

Relic has a similar streak but doesn't have the PR machinery.

>made ganes like
>Impossible creatures
>dawn of war
>homeworld
>CoH
>Spess Mahreen.

>best level editor ever made

I don't work in the gaming industry but I owe my employment to this fucker. My first introduction to programming and so much more: compression and archives, different graphical formats, modeling and animations terminology, the importance of staying organized in a large project and collaborating with others, just to name a few.

Don't forget
>greatest online FPS over made

>those games
>good

Says fucking wjo?

Lost Vikings was a joint project anyway

Nintendo, Capcom, SEGA, a shitton of other companies.

nice games you listed there, oh wait...

At least Blizzard has picked themselves up a little with Overwatch and a new SC expansion. Valve has just been jerking themselves off for the last five years under the Steam(TM) money chute

SC 1 is actually a pretty shitty game. It's not even popular until Blizz got recognized years later

It's only popular because the koreans picked it up and turned it into memesports

(you)

lol

Lost Vikings is fucking great

Even if people give it shit, it's honestly the most fun I've had playing an online FPS in years.

>implying rednecks in space isn't the tightest shit ever
the fuck outta here you yankee

>WoW
>One of the best MMO's ever made.
WoW single handily killed the MMO genre with their cazualization and kid friendly designs.

Starcraft 2 is fucking great with LotV too

SC2 was never anywhere near as good as the original, and the competitive scene went to shit and stayed shit way back in WoL when they introduced the queen patch.

Even the layout of archaic b.net 1.0 was better than what we got with SC2.

>A company that outright copies and steals all their "unique" designs from another company.
>Ever making anything good.
Warcraft is just a shitty kid friendly copy of Warhammer. Same shit with Starcraft and WH40k

spotted the casual, BW is so far above any other RTS ever made it's not even close to a contest

I said LotV. WoL was a disaster which killed a lot of the player base but LotV is good

There has never been a good Warhammer RTS game. They're fucking trash compared to Starcraft and Warcraft and even C&C and AoE.

What's Blizzard going to do for Diablo 20th anniversary?

I know you said LotV, and I'm saying you're wrong. It's even worse than HotS, which was worse than WoL. Blizzard has continued to double down on making everything super fast and all about mobility because they're idiots who can't understand that what made BW great was hard macro that limited army control and mobility which in turn emphasized map control and selective, extremely precisely managed attacks and maneuvers.

Starcraft 1 has a lot less redneck feel to it compared to Starcraft 2

you sure about that?

youtu.be/CucxehQcpj0?t=4m25s

i agree and disagree, C&C was far to slow and imbalanced in multi but the single player was REALLY good

I'd say Bioware gives it a run for its money.
As well as Obsidian, and Rockstar.

But hey I guess its really a matter of opinion.

it didnt randomly become a e sport you clown it was REALLY good and deep so it became one

it's really not wow's fault for being popular and subsequently imitated a dozen times over by uncreative hacks

i strongly disagree, maybe go watch all the cut scenes again you have no idea what youre talking about

Reminder that Starcraft was one of the games that started the whole "e-sport" competitive shit that is currently ruining today's gaming market.

quake was the OG e-sport title

It wasn't that bad because you could enjoy the game and not have to associate with the scene, I think LoL is what truly made the current competitive scene toxic

You get a transmog piece for Diablo 3.

>tassadar

i didnt come here to feel feels man, i will never forgive blizzard never

Thats not really their fault though, I mean they couldn't have known that was going to happen.
Plus its not really true, Quake 3, Command and Conquer, hell even Smash or Warcraft custom games could be equally blamed for modern competitive gaming.

Starcraft didn't start esports, it just happened to be an exceptionally well designed game with a great multiplayer function that a bunch of gooks turned into a sport. The hacks who inherited Blizzard after the real talent left were the ones who tried to design all their subsequent games around esports.
