They've been confirmed for a while now. We already know there are going to be other enemies and they've shown zombie models for the game before.

I'm cautiously hyped.

I'm pretty concerned. The game looks like your standard modern horror, first person game, made for youtube reaction videos and with scripted events, which means that the game will play almost identically every time you play it.

I also don't get why the marketing is pushing such focus on what the game has that the previous games had. Yeah, green herbs, it's not that surprising, nor that much of a selling point.

This is going to be the first RE game I don't buy at launch in a pretty long time. I'm going to wait for reviews and playthroughs before I commit to getting this.

They're marketing to LP/Twitch/Streaming shit because that's were the horror game money is made now.

Resident Evil is Capcom's biggest franchise and tons of its fans are pushing 40. They're mostly living off past glories. RE7 is an attempt to reset the franchise, lower production costs, spend less money on marketing, address complaints about RE6 and capture a younger demographic.

Could still be a decent Resident Evil if they pull it off. Don't give a shit how they market it as long as the game is good.

In my opinion them going back to a horror focus could have gone much worse, at least they've started showing off hallmark features like item boxes, typewriters and shortcut unlocks..

I'm excited to see how it turns out. The guy directing 7 also directed Revelations 1 so I think it will at the very least be a "competent" game like Rev 1 was.

Unrelated, but is there a way to unlock the lone-wolf modes on Outbreak File 1 and 2 right away if using an emulator? If not, is playing with the AI solo really that bad? I really like a challenge, but I don't want the challenge to come solely from the shitty AI partners.

If they show regular zombie enemies like in RE1-RE3 and actual combat I'm sold on it.

I actually thought the titles of the US and Japanese versions referencing each other was actually pretty cool. Even down to the numbers in the name.

The item menu looks like shit

If it has old-school zombies, weapons etc throughout the game it may be redeemed by going FPS.

However I strongly expect it to have moments where you're stripped of weapons and ends up like Amnesia/P.T. with just your usual scripted events and jump scares and if they go more for this route then I'm no longer excited.

Looks alright. I've been itching for a game closer to the older games, and this will do.

Dealbreakers for me would be short-game length, little to no enemy variation (Just Jack & Marg so far.), simple puzzles (shadow puzzle is confirmed to appear more than once, and simple item fetches confirmed.)
