Despite being a 5 year old singleplayer game, Skyrim has NEVER ONCE left the top 15 "most currently playing" on Steam.
And now that the special edition is out, 2 of the top 15 games most played on Steam are skyrim.
How can one game be so based? no other role playing game can compete with stuff like this.

witcher 3 is boring for boring people. rpgs should never have a pre-made character and they should never have dialogue cutscenes that try to mimic a tv show. rpgs dialogue should be how bethesdsa games do it (excluding fallout 4)

Skyrim was only played so long because of mods.
I already have 20 mods installed for the Special Edition and that will probably shoot up to 100 or more once the script extender is out. Vanilla Skyrim is borderline unplayable.
I do miss the combat tweaks and all the extra content that won't be added until the script extender comes out, though. Right now most of my mods are just little patches, conveniences and village expansions. My entire mod collection for the original was entirely gameplay-related.

If you actually saw what people who are running the game are doing in the game you wouldn't be saying stupid shit like that.
People are modding it to have shitting dick nipples, THICC waifus and all other manner of unholy things. The way they're playing it makes it barely recognizable as Skyrim. They're not playing it because the game has excellent gameplay, story or writing, they're playing it because it lends itself extra well to modding.

As a sidenote for anyone who actually does want to play the Special Edition and wants some good early mods check out Arthmoor's Nexus stuff, his mods do not require the script extender and they're all nice little tweaks to the game.
Consoles don't have any exclusives anymore that would stand out on a similar list if it existed.

every time this manages to happen. I've tried modding oblivion into a real good action RPG but the mods needed for that require a bit more finesse to get working than i can muster up
I haven't had a decent desktop in a decade though, so part of the problem could EASILY be from gaming on an above average laptop (i have a friend who buys top of the line 'gaming' laptops every couple years, he gives me his old one for free since it's inevitably fucked up by that point and needs to be wiped and physically cleaned)
