OP is a retard
Never waste time talking about fighting games here OP. Its pointless.
yeah, it's time to go to your echo chambers
...
Let's go to twitch and reddit to talk about our favorite SFV moments like Daigo playing VR games
...
We look for shit that needs to be improved and expose them. But that doesnt mean we hate the game, otherwise we wont be playing. I have serious complaints on every SF, but I dont hate them. Also Eduardo complains too much, himself admit
Go back to twitch and r kappa where you can meme and hate all you want.
People had no expectations for Overwatch since it's a new IP. Every SF has an arcade mode, if I recall correctly, so people were expecting it. Still, Overwatch probably should have had a campaign since they were trying so hard to push some sort of narrative with that game anyway. Also, Blizzard's 2 characters were free, while Capcom's characters either cost money or in game money you grinded. Blizzard satisfied the instant gratification itch the average casual player has.
its funny pr_balrog did an interview recently saying he got better at the game because he stopped complaining about it and actually worked at it. Maybe you should get out of your echo chamber and get good.
Except this is the internet hate machine. Deal with it. Meanwhile, r/kappa is still busy pretending that SFV has no flaws at all. After spending 200 hours in SFV, I think I'm allowed to hate it.
...
r/kappa hates SFV.
what the fuck is this post even
EU lobby anyone?
Even Skullgirls has a slapdash arcade mode and Capcom clearly has money from Monhun, so they could throw it together to stop the complaints about that.
You people do realize that most of the money they get from SF comes from the casuals anyway, right? Less than 1% of players go to tournaments and pay entry fees for CPT events. That pot money comes from little Jimmy and Sarah mashing through arcade mode, so you should appreciate them. If it was solely the esports crowds buying these games, Capcom would have been way in the hole with SFV.
And yet it's the only game they really play. How often do you see them talking about Tekken or King of Fighters? Keep in mind that they primarily sponsor SFV players, not players of other games. They can claim they hate it all the want, but if they're still playing it, they're not fooling me.
sfv is good
if you don't like it you're a retard desu
go to the fucking fighters sub. i don't mean to discuss reddit on here because i know how people are, but kappa is for shitposting and porn. i don't know why you're there to actually discuss vidya.
Every fucking fighting game made the past 20 years has a damn arcade mode. No reason SFV didn't have one.
Except it's literally a retard dash and mash game and the simplest Street Fighter to date. Meter management? Neutral? Execution? What the fuck is that?
Wait for season 2. Both games are good at their core but a lot of bullshit plagued SFV.
1. 8 frames
2. No arcade
3. No Lobbies
4. Now that there are lobbies, they barely work
5. Lobbies are still small
6. Netcode isn't as good as promised.
7. Gameplay lacks variety or a competent high/low game. It's just frametrap and shimmy
I don't actually use reddit. I just keep getting reddit links whenever I research any fighting game information with a search engine
Why wouldn't an over casualized normie game like OW be praised?
Reminder that most SFV players are in it for the money, which is ironic since most are awful and will never ever be as good as the asians. I'm aware that some people legitimately like it, and that's fine, but let's not kid ourselves. We know that a lot of guys are playing it just because it has the largest playerbase and they think they can profit from it. I see it all the time. Fuck, even I bought it since I don't feel like screwing around with discord all the time to play Guilty Gear against non-asians or only playing DoA5 just because VF is dead and I want to play a 3d game like it with other people.
>One is a online shooter
>The other is a fighting game
>One was 40$
>The other was $60
>One had everything at the start
>The other didn't get most of its features until 6 MONTHS IN ITS LIFE
>Free DLC character
>Character can be bought with in-game money if you grind your life away
And comparing SF5 to other fighters of this gen, it's still outclassed
Except SFV is also a casualized normie game. They literally showed its Evo grand finals on ESPN and thought that was acceptable. Meanwhile, when they showed 5 minutes of Guilty Gear a year or two ago, the announcers couldn't stop laughing because LOL WACKY ANIMU GAME! Wake me up when they show The King of Fighters XIII or Street Fighter Alpha 2 on American television.
Honestly getting 1 character in SFV doesn't even require grinding.
And now with weekly challenges, it's not so bad
>popularity equals quality
kekked heartily. Our boy Phil blows the shills THE FUCK OUT youtube.com
>simplest sf to date
that would be sf2ww or sf1 lol'
season 2 will literally fix everything
The announcers were lauging at the player getting up too early which caused him to lose and admitted that they didn't know what was going on during the gameplay.
Calm your shit user
SFV isn't so great and is a very flawed game, but let's be honest here, the average American casual IGN type reviewer would hate it even if it was good since they just don't like fighting games and think anything that requires practice or playing for more than 2 minutes to understand the game isn't fun or enjoyable. Meanwhile, Overwatch is very pick up and play.
DSP is nobody's boy except fucking 16er retards. the dude is a total moron that sucks dick at fighting games.
also every one of those points has been made 200 times by people more important than darksyderetard
At least that's what everyone hopes. God knows what they'll have to do to the gameplay though.
The first character (maybe second) are a freebees thanks to the story mode and the Real story mode, but then grind survival for FM and colors became so fucking boring that I ended up using mods to speed right through it. Got me like 1mil fight money and bought everything I needed, but when Urien came out, the rested me.
Bugs and glicthes maybe? i bet you think NMS just had false advertisement and Skyrim is a good game.
If the UK capcom guy is anything to go by we'll have 5 pages of balance changes for season 2
Some user said the guy also streams but couldnt catch a name
Arcade mode got leaked too
>2d fighting games
People still play this archaic garbage? I thought they went the way of the point and click adventure games.
How are 2d fighting games archaic? They are still evolving in many ways. Compare Street Fighter II to, say, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. There are so many new mechanics and character types that change how these games are played.
Or do you prefer 3d fighting games, which generally haven't changed that much since the introduction of sidestepping?
>dash and mash
AND jump!
Jumping is a bad idea in Street Fighter. Considering how good anti-airs are, this might as well be a 3d game.
Fighting games are cancer
How so? Legit curious? Too many negros? If so, just play games that weren't released in the U.S..
>jumping is a bad idea in Street Fighter
Not in SFV it's not. Especially for characters like Ken and Necalli who can alter their jump arcs. Also characters like Nash can condition you to anticipate the forward dash and then occasionally jump to throw you off.
Jump, Mash, and Dash are the ABC's of SFV neutral.
They're hard to get good at and he's a noncompetitive weeny who prefers to hide behind a team if he bothers to compete.
Trust me I'm an armchair psychologist.
What is worth mentioning is the reaction to that video, and how it reinforces negative impressions about so-called “gamers.” People might sound like they’re trying out for the Blue Collar Comedy Tour when they say that somebody needs to “Git Gud” at a game, but what they’re really doing is trying to exclude players who don’t devote as much time to games as they do. Equal parts taunt and heckle, “Git Gud” is a joke directed at players doing poorly in online games, but a joke with a pointed edge: if you don’t get better at games, they’re saying, we’ll stop playing with you. That you don’t belong here. Those people who are mad about the other players are saying that anybody who hasn’t put in the hours necessary to become as great at fighting games as they are should be ignored. That their opinions are meaningless and that their presence hurts the game for the “serious” players. That “Git Gud” mentality is one part of a larger effort by “gamers” to keep games as their own private sanctuary from the wider world, open only to those who are as passionate about games as they are, and only if they’re passionate about the same games as they are.
This kind of hostility towards “outsiders” is why so many think poorly of games and the people who play them. It’s the same attitude that inspired the so-called “GamerGate” controversy. All the stereotypes and clichés that anger and diminish “gamers” are reinforced by incidents like this. By reflexively acting out against those who they believe are encroaching on their private turf, these game fans make themselves look petty and mean-spirited and encourage the dismissive attitudes the general public tend to hold towards them and their hobby.
Reveal Akuma and C. Viper within the next few weeks and have them legal for Capcom Cup (show Akuma at Canada Cup on Sunday)
Re-Launch the game in January as Super Street Fighter 5.
People who payed for Season 1 pass get season 2 characters for free.
Include an Arcade mode and a mini game mode that also provide fight money.
Decrease input delay.
I really like the game, but this first year has really only had stuff that appeals to more core fighter fans, little in the way of casual appeal.
>SFV lacks lots of basic features that SF4 had for years
>DLC pass doesn't include all DLC, far from it
>Forced a fucking rootkit on you in an update
Not to mention that it's fucking garbage gameplay-wise.
no fuck off
Because fighting games are made with "competitive" players in mind, and as we all know, the "competitive" player does NOT want challenge. (Why are you going out of your way to gain every little advantage over your opponent that you can? Why are you downright gleeful when you've gained an advantage? Why do you scour YouTube channels to copy every little trick and tactic you can find, instead of playing the game and trying to devise them on your own, as the developers intended?
Why are you turning down all the detail levels? Why are you buying monitors and controllers specially designed to give you an advantage over those of your opponents who lack the means to afford them?) He wants the OPPOSITE of challenge: he wants to "WIN"; and moreover, he wants to win specifically against a HOMO SAPIENS opponent, NOT
because the homo sapiens is a better or a more unpredictable opponent (for he isn't), but because unlike the AI bots, he is the only kind of opponent that CAN FEEL SAD.
That is what the "competitive" player's fixation with "winning" (i.e. with the game over screen) betrays: the "competitive" player does not draw his enjoyment so much from his interaction with the game world, but from FORCING A PARTICULAR FRAME OF MIND ON HIS OPPONENT: more specifically the depressive emotion of SADNESS. And thus we arrive at the definition of the "competitive" player: A player who is more interested in making other people sad than in the quality of the game he is playing. He draws his satisfaction, not so much from interaction with the game world, but from the sadness he is causing the other players.
There's no other logically and psychologically consistent way to explain why the "competitive" player acts the way that he does. Why would I want to play any sort of game with these kinds of people? It brings out the worst sort of autism and I'd rather play some shit rpg by myself than deal with them. Yes, even one of those ridiculous, linear anime Jap ones.
Kid is better. Harle a dead shit. Don't make me link you to a sirlin article. I'll do it.
>Game has been "simplified for a wider audience" aka casuals who just want to mash buttons
>Slow as shit movement and walk speed
>Huge floaty jumps with next to no horizontal range
>Tiny ranged normal's
>Tiny hitboxes on everything
>Normal's have a shitty priority system
>Throws are slow as shit with no range
>Links are gone and combos are now mashable
>Huge buffer window
>No close standing attacks
>No neutral jump attacks
>Dizzy making people fall out of combos
>Game is full of comeback mechanics desinged to "lower the effectivness of player skill"
>Only super can chip kill
>V-Trigger a huge universal buff you get as a rewarded for losing
>V-Reverasl a get out of jail free you are rewarded with for losing
>Receve less damage the less health you have
>Worst roster in a street fighter game to date fan favorites replaced with characters no one wanted like birdie and rmika
>Risk/Reward is skewed due to high damage from jump ins yet pitifully low damage on anti airs and how you can no longer get large damage punishes from a jab
>Huge amounts input lag
>Constant fps loss on ps4 and high end PC's
>Random input drops
>Dumbed down mechanics
>Top players already saying the game is casual garbage
>P2W
>Game literally released in an unfinished state
>Online doesn't work correctly
>No punishment for rage quitters
>lobbies that dont even work most of the time with no flags or ping
>8 frames of input lag
>Actually install malicious Kernel level rootkit that grant unauthorized access to your machine
"lack of singleplayer" is the least of that shitty games problems.
>Y-YOU'RE JUST SAD BECAUSE YOUR FAVORITE WAIFU DIDN'T GET IN
Nice try, while I miss Guy, I quickly adapted to R. Mika and I'm doing fine on that front.
>Y-YOU'RE JUST UPSET BECAUSE NO ARCADE
No, I'm upset because the actual fighting mechanics are so shitty now. I remember when you had to earn a win in Street Fighter but now I can just hit 2HP to confirm into V-Trigger, LP>MP target combo>EX Shooting Peach ad infinitum and get a win, then boom bam zim zam, I was in gold after 2 hours of play. Do I have to handicap myself just to enjoy this game?
>can't even choose to play people from my own region when I play casuals or ranked
>when sf4 and mvc3 always had this feature
>constantly matched with Argentinians and columbians and mexicans with extremely unplayable connections but they all play Ken and Cammy so they can rushdown no problem
I hate SFV so much. The terrible infrastructure only makes me hate it more but I hate it even not regarding that. The game is way too offensive. Footsies and neutral last for like 10 seconds when the round starts and the rest of the game is just me frame trapping my opponent and hitting/grabbing him on his wakeup or him doing that to me until somebody dies. Not to mention that any mistake or incorrect guess is an easy 60% off your lifebar and a mixup afterwards if the attacker has even a few resources to spend.
I feel like I'm playing Marvel more than I feel like I'm playing Street Fighter a lot of the time. I'm sure we can at least partly thank that rushdown-loving fuck Combofiend for that.
j-just go to locals
High level players of any game can make it look exciting if they have good announcers and the players waste enough of their life playing it. Did you see the Street Figther x Tekken evo video? Shit was hilarious.
minorities are better at fighting games, JP or American.
I live in a small town. Nobody has even heard of a video game here.
Define minority. Chinese are some of the best at KoF, at least much better than the Latin Americans, and they're the largest ethnic group in the world by numbers. Also, if an asian guy isn't winning something at a major, it's usually a white guy.
Two things. Overwatch has actual production value and a good presentation and overwatch was a casual game designed for casuals to paly with other casuals. SFV was a fucking nightmare targeted at pro players with dumbed down mechanics for casuals who abandoned the game because of low production value while dedicated players have to deal with retarded design decisions not targeted at them.
I know this feel. Retards on /fgg/ will say shit like "lol, just start up your own scene" but they don't seem to understand that it's not easy to introduce new people to fighting games if they don't even play video games in the first place. I mean, it was already hard enough to convince my one friend that plays Minecraft to try and play Tekken with me.
So it's like Final Fantasy XI being bogged down by PS2 players that mostly abandoned the game later on anyway?
>chun/guile matchup
Yeah, because that happens all the time and is a better example of an average SFV game than Ken vs Cammy or Karin vs Ryu or Chun vs Ken.
I love ISDD's Guile but I'm tired of idiots linking his game's like they prove that SFV isn't an offensive clusterfuck of a fighting game.
youtube.com
ISDD is da man
Vanilla SF4 was called turtle fighter 4 on release, SFV is more fun to play honestly and I'm sure after a few revisions it will be great instead of just good.
some players are like that, but i'd argue that players like that are usually weaker. then there are the intermediate players who are gambling addicts. They just love conditioning people, playing mindgames, and rolling the dice and winning. Then there are people are legitimately competitive, who strive to play for the sake of improving.
i still prefer it to IV at least, considering IV had shit like cr.mk to fireball blockstrings that could be FADC'd into full combos, which is basically how daigo won every single game
the problem is that most medium and heavy buttons have good priority, range, and are neutral or only -2 on block, so you more often than not just end up pressing those if you arent going for a block string or low. add to the fact they double as frame traps and lead into high damage combos, it usually turns into whoever can land a hit in the middle of slinging plus buttons at each other rather than full fledged footsies
you eliminate the prospect of getting full combos from lights but just create a new one in its wake. all the mainline SF games have had serious problems, so it just comes down to whichever one you adapt to for which you prefer
Nah, Turtle Fighter IV was Super Street Fighter 4. Vanilla was Sagat doing safe tiger knee pressure then killing you in two combos.
user that gave me the anxiety free mod, don't know if you're still there. That shit still shows win streaks on the vs screen, so I know if it's a ranked match. It didn't helped me at all. But thanks.
>Define minority.
not white. you make a good point about asians, but that's not my intent of replying to someone who says "negros".
>Also, if an asian guy isn't winning something at a major, it's usually a white guy.
Has a white guy won a single SFV major that wasn't European or something? The handful of Americans capable of fighting off the Japanese are Asian or hispanic.
Tekken is dominated by Koreans.
Kof is dominated by latinos, koreans, and chinese.
Guilty Gear and Blazblue are peerlessly dominated by Japan.
so on and so forth.
Fair enough, but people started calling it turtle fighter with vanilla. I remember because it was the first fighting game I took seriously instead of being a story mode fag so I had to spend a lot of time online learning the lingo and what framedata meant etc.
>Has a white guy won a single SFV major that wasn't European or something? The handful of Americans capable of fighting off the Japanese are Asian or hispanic.
So wait, you want a white guy that is not European? I hope you realize that you are an idiot
Even fuckign Yatagarasu has an arcade mode.
No, a white guy winning a major that isn't located in Europe.
Why does Europeans winning majors as whites winning something, but Koreans winning events in Korea and Japanese dominating a game mostly played in Japan allowed?
English is not my first language. Is negro a bad word?
Negro carries the connotation of white people perceiving blacks as lesser beings.
Sup Forums shit outside of FGs aside, i wanted to point out racial performance within the FGC because of it.
European competition, depending on the game, is relatively weaker. I also see less top players travelling out to European majors than American or Asian majors. Winning an American or Asian major means more because more top level players are likely to participate in the tournament.
That said, I do think a white dude won a major in Europe that was stacked with high level asians. Still, I disagree that if it's not an asian winning it's "usually a white guy".
If you look at overall performance, I think you often see a lot better hispanics/blacks/asians than you do white people in a tournament setting.
This, and Super Street Fighter 4 was the best in the 4 series for that reason. You call it turtling, but the SF series made its mark because of its space control and zoning. Every SF game should just be like ST. Simple but deep and rewards people for playing clean and punishes people for going ham.
SFV is stressful as fuck because there's always some nonsense that I'll never be able to react to and punish like Cammy's ex divekick and Nash or Ryu's forward dashes or Ken's run or Ken's ex divekick or V-trigger Necalli's forward dash or whatever. Everything in this game has to be anticipated in this game. And if you anticipate the wrong thing you die.
Unless you like rushdown and like playing offensively this game is a miserable experience, especially when you consider how this game is nearly the antithesis of SF games like ST and SSF4. Everything has to be a fuckin read or you have to block for days or you have to go on the offense yourself. Why do I have to perfectly predict what every single player is going to do and why can't I just bait and punish like I could in every other SF game ever?
This game is just Marvel lite. You can't be defensive forever and you have to optimize all of your oki after your combos and you always have to close the round with critical art if you have it or you risk getting one-shotted. Meter management be damned.
Yeah the major problem is the most common characters all play the same. For every Guile or Sim you have 2 mash and dash characters like Ken, Cammy, Karin, Mika, etc. that are all stronger and played more. If the DLC characters came out during launch and the Mika, Karin, Nash, Necalli, Chun, and maybe Ken were released as DLC we might have seen a better meta.
>a white guy winning a major
In a dead game with zero competition maybe
>Objects in a background = bad game
SF5 is garbage.
The only reason i keep it around is because season 2 might fix everything and because no one want to buy my used copy
based phil btfo out of SFV
What the fuck is an arcade mode, what is it that Survival Mode and Versus CPU somehow does NOT equate to having arcade mode.
What part of your little monkey brain needs arcade mode so bad that you can't realize its already in the game but isn't called arcade mode.
This is the dumbest excuse.
Honestly though if SSF4 had more time before the update it would have gone to all rushdown as well. People were catching on quick the Cammy and Akuma was stupid good. Same with C.Viper and Seth. It would eventually have resulted in all vortex characters dominating like Arcade Edition did.
Clearly concepts you don't understand because they're in SFV.
You fucking retard.
But hey, say words, pretend you know fighting games.
I actually don't care about arcade mode. The thing is that arcade mode is like 8 fights you have in a row, then can be interrupted by other players via fight request, like in the arcade or SFIV.
That is LITERALLY in the game.
>taking the opinion of a guy who can't even beat a JRPG, one of the lowest skill ceiling genres there is
>on easy mode
kek
there is no hate towards SFV.
IT is just a scam
An unfinished product that was meant to be more.
It has a legacy to consider. Unfortunately Crapcom could give a wooden nickle about its legacy.
If you do not know where I am coming from then you do not know where this is all headed. Capcom is done just like konami. Forget trying to argue facts, figures, mechanics and style. Capcom is only interested in local earnings that they do not even consider Capcom USA as a fundemental part of its organization. SF is not important. USA is not important. Hail Ippon. Long like Monster Hunter. May capcom return to nintendo. Fuck SONY.
Except you can spam full screen hadoukens to farm meter
Except you can literally dash in online and take advantage of lag to get an easy knockdown thanks to nonsensical "rollback"
Except this game's execution is just as simple as IV's. Maybe it's hard on a pad, but I use a hitbox and literally never drop inputs
nearly every character has an answer for fireballs
this is correct
whats wrong with simpler inputs (granted the game's other mechanics are still difficult enough to justify it i.e. one frame links and fadc in sf4)?
Capcom is great and they still make most of the best combat in the industry.
>Except you can spam full screen hadoukens to farm meter
So the thing Ryu has always been able to do in any game that has meter
>Except you can literally dash in online and take advantage of lag to get an easy knockdown thanks to nonsensical "rollback"
So you're admitting you have a shit connection
>Except this game's execution is just as simple as IV's. Maybe it's hard on a pad, but I use a hitbox and literally never drop inputs
Ow, the edge. We should have terrible input delay and impossibly irritating directional inputs.
So you know jack shit about fighting games. Or a troll. Whichever. Fucking shitposters.
You mean an answer besides jumping over them like Nash's move that stops them and builds his meter? Half of the time, I just see people jump over them, which doesn't really help the farming situation.
Simple inputs trivialize the game and make it basically impossible to see dropped combos, e.g. the one chance people have to get out of getting assfucked. That is to say, in older SF games, even if you were winning, there was still a chance you might mess up your combo and have to think on your feet to get your opponent in another string, but now that's becoming rarer and rare, simply making the game easier in yet another way.
Except its even worse now with anti-airs being so good. Let's say an opponent jumps over your projectile. You can just immediate AA them and score a knockdown anyway. Far too simplistic.
I have a good connection, actually. I just keep getting matches with high ping BRs and Jamaicans no matter how high I set my connection requirements due to the awful servers.
Appreciating high execution is edgy? Yep, you are definitely the audience for Street Fighter V *pats on head* It's okay, kiddo. Maybe when you get a little older, you'll learn to appreciate better fighting games. If things like delta motions are too hard for you to do, which I assume is why Capcom fucked up Vega so badly, I guess Divekick is a viable option for a competitive game for people like yourself.
This is bait.
SFIV was a better game than SFV
MK9 was a better game than MKX
Fighting games are a dying genre, like RTS.
>We should have terrible input delay
We do, you're playing SFV
lol
ULTRA Street Fighter 4 was a better game than SFV
vanilla sf4? not so much.
>SFIV was a better game than SFV
t. 09er
