A phone ain't a console.

>you bought an N-Gage

I looked into getting one for a giggle and all of its games looked laggy to play. I mind one of the issues of the oldest model was that to play anything you had to put the cart in by removing the battery pack

Gameboy advance happened

With current-gen mobile hardware, do you think another shot at the N-Gage would succeed nowadays? One of my major issues with mobileshit is that the majority of games that don't use tap or other non-button mechanics rely on on-screen buttons that cover up half the screen and it's awful

Shitty as a phone, shitty as a game console, overpriced for what it was. and was it the ngage where you had to remove the battery to change games? That might've been some other failed device.

It tried to be too many things, and failed at all of them.

What a loser!

The first version was terribly designed and the game selection was awful.

>was it the ngage where you had to remove the battery to change games?
For the first few months until they released a second version nobody cared about by then.

Neither is a computer.

Exactly.

One of the main problems was a vertical screen for video gaming.

It has 3 games worth playing, and actually has an exclusive Elder Scrolls game, surprisingly.

I desperately want another phone with a built in controller.

I had an Xperia Play, and while it was pretty bad specs-wise, the optimizations that sony ericsson did made it run like a better phone.
I put thousands of hours on that phone playing emulation and tons of games that had built in controller support (A lot were made specifically for the phone.)

It was the best being able to pull it out and play a minute and shove back in my pocket to keep working, or just play for hours.

Unfortunately mine died a few months back when I lent it to a friend because he had no phone. He tried to flash a new firmware and broke it.

The QD was actually a decent phone and decent gaming system. It's too bad it kept the shitty fucking vertical display.

I never owned an NGage but I owned a 6600 (probably the first real smartphone) and there was a hack and third party apps that allowed it to run NGage games, they were not bad at all.
I played THPS2, Sonic, Crash Team Racing on it during high school - all much better games than the current crap on iPhones.

The controls were a bit hard to get used to, but I had no problems making gigantic combos in THPS's warehouse.

itt: people too poor to afford it and underage faggots that get their geek knowledge from youtubers and sheldor

It was a great console, great technology, online multiplayer on the go and a small but quality packed library. Also emulators and symbian s60 apps.

The QD was a great machine.

I liked that time period where engineers basically had free reigns to try out dumb shit just because their market share was so big anyway

He actually bought an N-gage!

I'm fascinated by shitty handhelds

I played through all of tomb raider on my original N-Gage, not that QD lark.

Hey, user! This guy bought an N-Gage!

it was one of the original memes.

LOOK AT THAT FUCKING WEBSITE AND DESPAIR

was great but piracy and a fucking retarded screen, the screen was actually the worse in any Nokia at the time

All the popular games are tap2win mobileshit. So unless it comes with some software that allows you to map button presses to screen touches, I'd say no.

Fucking glorious

bump

I still want to buy one. I would kill for a game console phone.

The Switch should have been a smarthpone, only then i would have bought one.

ahead of its time

O7

I actually thought I wanted a N-Gage as a kid.
