I'm tired Sup Forums I'm tired of the bullshit and complaining and trash on this site. I'm talking to you FGC (laughs) You all bitch and complain about your precious SF/V/ and how it does poorly in sales and how it lacks any competitiveness, is easy to master and full of gimmicks. I'm so sick of this incessant whining - because the answers to your prayers have been right in front of you, yet you choose to turn a blind eye.
Tekken. Yes. It's a little bit hard to grasp at first, but you can't use that as an excuse to call it a bad game. It's a great game. Everyone I know says it's a great game, except you fools. I'll tell you why.
-The roster is huge, with diverse play-styles, anyone who argues against this simply hasn't put in a few hours to learn a character or two. There is literally at least ONE character that you can get down with, that feels fun and invigorating, but alas your shitposting keeps you ignorant.
-The mechanics are beautifully intertwined and elaborate, with access to a 3d environment, you can sway side to side, back and forth and really feel like the character. Because of the limb system, [1,2,3,4] It becomes almost natural to pick up the HUGE amount of moves each character has. Yea that's right. There are hundreds of moves to use at your disposal - PER CHARACTER. Don't let that scare you though, because you'll pick it up BECAUSE HOW NATURAL THE MECHANICS FLOW.
- The graphics. Truly advanced and never skipped over. Every single Tekken game has made it a mission to improve and bring the world to life. Compare SF4 to SFV... what the fuck? Call me crazy but besides some shading and lighting effects. it still looks like the half assed claymation garbage from the last installment. Talk about lazy.. outsourcing character design to hipsters, and seriously NO RESPECT for characters appearance. Banana hair anyone? Colgate? I rest my case. ...part1

- Right next to graphics would have to be customization. Yea, that's right. Pimp your character with thousands of items and colors to choose from - make that character YOURS.
- Replay value, seriously a game shouldn't be THIS GOOD. With all of these features well blended together, the outcome of every match changes and evolves.
I already know what you're going to say, "but user, the game is gimmicks, the long juggles are stupid and take all your life, it's so dumb" But that's where you're wrong my friend. All fighting games have large damage combos, but those just rely on meaty moves. You can poke someone to death with ONE button in games like street fighter. In TEKKEN however, the combos are beautiful and intricate, full of complex possibilities yet to be discovered, and when you really get into a character, and take control of the match, it feels better than anything else in this world.
I really hope this helps you in some way, to pick up the game, and just put in some hours, get to know some characters, and start having REAL FUN. Pick up Tekken Tag 2 while you wait - like I said, every Tekken game follows the same formula to success; you won't be let down.

But gameplay-wise, I think they're all the same, just sidestepping and throwing out their versions of EWGF to get a a juggle. Am I wrong?

There is at least 19 (NINETEEN) different fighting styles in Tekken. Each with different motions and priorities, different strikes and take downs.. etc.. you can't really simplify it down to their fastest moves, because even though are pretty punishable and would need to incorporate different tactics against other seasoned players
