Friendly reminder that DOOM 2 has heavy autoaim and is still better than your favorite shooter, and that the MUH KBM is a meme pushed by underage mustards who fap to Yahtzee.
you can keep telling yourself how much better it is when the game's dead on PC in a few weeks, I guess

>MUH KBM
I didn't know a single person who played Doom back in the day with a mouse. Nerds on Sup Forums constantly say ROMERO WANTED PEOPLE TO PLAY IT WITH A MOUSE BRUH but for me it's the McKeyboard-only Doom.
Ayden Powell
i played on keyboard when doom first came out but my brother eventually taught me to use the mouse when we started playing deathmatch with other people
back then you had to to manually edit the cfg file in dos to raise the mouse sensitivity beyond the ingame slider, otherwise it was suuuuper slow
Andrew Wright
DOOM compensated its lack of vertical aiming with AA, but the game already did have a mouse support. It wasn't just a standard of any sort yet.
Also, reason why D1 and 2 are so much fun and way better shooters than most modern crap is related to their map design and pacing. Non-linear, circular maps, with limited supplies, set amount of enemies, and tons of potentially scales tipping secrets to find are just few major reasons of Doom's success.
I still play DOOM games with KB-only. Thanks to that long ago learned "skill", I've managed to play tons of other games like that too. Pretty handy being able to emulate some 3D games without a gamepad, anywhere you go.
Angel Barnes
you can turn off autoaim.

>Being this butthurt over a post that you had to create your own thread
You're a sad, little man, OP.
Oliver Morris
Nope. >inb4 GZDoom babby
Aiden Bennett
>Doom was my first video game >played it with keyboard thank you for reading
Xavier Kelly
what is wrong with GZDoom?
Lincoln Nguyen
Yeah but it also had really fast speed, good level design, proper weapon balance and massive amounts of monsters which console shooters do not have. It's true that FPS games don't need to be about precise aiming to be good though, depends entirely on their focus. If console shooters focused on really fast movement it wouldn't be as much of a problem.
Oliver Green
Doom may have been designed for keyboard but it's more fun with a mouse. And like I said in the original thread you posted in, as soon as Quake cam out people realized 3d FPS were better with a mouse.
Ian Evans
>heavy autoaim only with rocket and plasma and it's more of a hinderance than help >muh KBM it was designed to be played with the keyboard and mouse even says so right in the manual
Brandon Morales
What are you even trying to argue? That you could play doom with a pad? i mean you could its pretty simple but why do that when a kbm is way better for shooters. also >linking your dead thread just to shitpost

you still didnt explain
Christopher Evans
opengl renders in full 3d so vertical mouse look doesn't get warped you can turn filters off dipshit
Noah Hernandez
You can tell DOOM 2 was made more with mouse control in mind than the first game due to the sharp increase in difficulty and density of enemy placement.

>dead in a few weeks user, 1994 is that way. this is 2016. 21 years later.
Dominic Carter
wow. I blew you the fuck out so hard herethat you made this post and then made this thread
now let me BTFO of you again
>Doom has auto aim so by your standards it's bad haha right? Gotcha! no, because the skill is not in aiming but in movement. >but you can play it on analog sticks then so controllers aren't bad haha gotcha! you can play it with an analog stick because it's a 2 dimensional game. Similar to how in regular console shooters it's more effective to strafe than aim horizontally because it's moving along a 2d plane instead of a 3d one.
doom has had mouse support since its original release
suck my dick
David Baker
keyboard only is a disaster I don't know how I survived playing like that way back then
