B) Because ZSS is a more interesting character to make fanart about than suited-up Samus. I'm not saying Samus' suit isn't awesome, but if you want to express things like expression and personality, it's a lot harder to do that in a robo suit. And since Samus has practically no canon personality anyways, people can project whatever the fuck they want to onto her.

Basically ZSS is a completely different character than Samus, because ZSS is sexy, fun, and abstract. She is a blank slate that anyone can make as lewd as they want to and not technically be wrong.

So since it's been so long since most people have spent hours and hours running around with full-suit Samus, and since ZSS is simply a more attractive character, she hogs all the fan art. Shit ZSS even stomps on Samus in Smash.

And Nintendo shut down the only project that was in line with what people liked about the original Metroid.

I always just assumed that Samus wore the zero suit underneath all that power armor. Its skintight so it fits better and so on without her getting all buck naked. Maybe it even integrated to the power suit itself. So zero suit never took away anything from Samus to me. She was still the badass in a space warrior armor, she just happened to be stupid hot underneath. Smash sexualized it tad further but it was still the same deal, sexy badass.

Then Other M actually ruined everything by making the power suit a literal Sailor Moon transformation while also making Samus to a literal retard. It was pretty much all over then.
