I received racist harassment playing Dota 2. What's new, right? I started the game by writing "Hola amigos" on the /all chat. I had good responses. I was happy. A racist free game. Lol, bitch, no. Later on I wasn't playing my best, to be honest. But I didn't deserve to be called all types of racist insults through text and voice chat. 3 out of 5 of my teammates were just HEAVILY racist. They went nuts. We won btw. We weren't even losing. But they decided to voice their frustrations towards me with hate speech.

You probably think I'm being a crybaby but I'm really, really tired of this shit. This is the worst experienced I've had playing videogames so far. My heart was palpitating so fast.

Looking through one of the racist's steam profile, checked his comments, then a phone number that was posted there, etc., and finally got his facebook.

This guy is white, didn't end high school, has 6 kids from what it seems different mothers, all of them look mixed raced, and around 50% of his facebook friends are hispanic.

Basically I think he has a miserable life and gets a boost from being a racist playing videogames. Now that I know a bit about him, a lot of his insults seemed like insults to himself. I feel a little bit sorry for him. But this doesn't excuses his harrasment.


I don't know what to do.

I really should just move on with my life. I don't want to scare him or threaten him but I feel like I do have to do something. Maybe talk to him, but I don't want to risk my identity. I think this racist shit is getting way out of control on Dota 2. It's not even funny anymore.

What do you suggest?

The game has language options, pick the one you are going to use. Not one you might understand half of, or that you can get by with, but the one with which you can communicate complex ideas easily and quickly. Unless you are translator tier or better, pick just the one.

My game options are in English. This, however, is just a PREFERENCE. It al comes down to servers and pin. I really don't get why people get so triggered by two spanish words. Look at yourselves, please. Stop the racist crap already.

If your language options aren't set to primary spanish secondary english you shouldn't be doing that, and even then you should ask in every game. Even fucking russians can handle that much when they choose russian/english.
