The PSP port allows you to control party members (purists say that "it makes the game too easy, whaaaaa, I want my Marin Karin back") and adds a female protagonist which is a different story in and of itself. It uas no cutscenes, they've been replaced by VN styled chatter and there's no roaming around the map, you pick your destinations with a cursor on a drawing of the place.
Tartarus is still the exact same as before, though. The MC still goes back to only being able to use swords, though. No The Answer either.

Having 3D cutscenes isn't that important.

You're underestimating how many models portable has for a PSP game. All the personas, shadows, weapons, and unique outfits do add up, even if the textures are bad.

Not exactly. An interesting difference between P3 and P4 is that in P3 your social links are improved by telling them what they WANT to hear. For example Kenji wants to score with his teacher, and you get points for telling him it's a good idea and to go for it. P4 is the opposite, where telling people what they NEED to hear is the best way to get points.

To put it another way, Yu is a guy who cares for and wants the best for his friends, whereas P3MC is only interested in short term benefits so he can abuse social links to leech the power he needs with the minimum possible effort. This might have something to do with having Death inside him, but this is all autistic speculation anyway.
