Gtx 1060

Any opinions on pic related?

Thinking about upgrading from my gtx 960 to this.
Although I would take this one: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 6GB as I need 2 DVI ports.

I don't think that's a big enough step to warrant an upgrade. Consider a 1070.

Coming from a 960, either wait and skip a gen, or go for 1070 and up. 1060 is more powerful, but only worth it if you play at a res higher than 1080p.

>upgrading from last year's midrange card to this year's midrange card

what is your cpu

>From 960
Why?

Just wait, Im sure your performance on games isnt even that bad.

I'm running 2x 680s and I can still get games to run on high-ultra

I will suck dicks for a GPU

You should get games running on ultra on single 680
Check if your sli is even supported by modern games anymore

I can only explain this thread in 2 ways:

1. you're just a retard user who invests his money badly (and probably makes a lot of other bad life choices)
2. you live off your parents, and your mommy will get you anything you cry for

Both means you know nothing of value of money. I'm pretty sure you aren't a richfag OP, as you wouldn't go for a midrange card.

Some do, some don't.

Ironically, most AAA ones dont, like Battlefield 1, I have no idea why not.

I'm not really doing SLI again when I do eventually upgrade, its the first time Ive done it and it has prolonged things a bit and when I got it at the time most games were SLI enabled.

Nowadays not so much, its becoming an afterthought for some reason.

too expensive for a low end/

>no GT 1040/940
welp

Don't get the 1060
get a 1070
>at least that should last you 2-3 years or one new generation.

DVI is old and getting phased out.
>Get fucking DVI to Display port adapters.
or
>update your monitors

Is this card enough for anime Madvr with everything on ultra?

>Runs everything 1080p@60fps maxed
>Midrange
Don't even need anything higher

"Maxed" is such a broad term. When I had my GTX 760, I thought I was "maxing" everything too, until I upgraded and could actually turn real Ambient Occlusion and real anti-aliasing on.

>I'm inept at computers so everyone else must be

the 1070 is the better buy.

1060 is still like x2 more powerful than a 960 but still. get 1070.

The RX 470 is all you need

I got the Gigabyte GTX 1060 OC 6GB.

It was an upgrade from a GTX 660

Runs everything including GTA on max 60 fps at 1080P.

Temps are good.

Haven't played around with overclocking much more.

This version doesn't come with the RGB LEDs, that's fine as it seems like a razar generation gimmick. Only time it might have been cool is Red flashes on low health or something.

I'm happy with my choice.

i recently bought a rx 470.

constantly get black flickering whenever i run a twitch stream in the background when im playing a game.

nice drivers you got there AMD.

If you're planning on upgrading get a 1070 instead.

>Temps are good.
What are they, anyway? Speccy says my Asus Turbo goes up to 75-ish°C

75 is good on a gpu if its during load.

What's even the point of Ultra'ing AAA games nowadays? they are terribly optimized and full of resource hog shit like god rays and MSAA.

Some of them like Dark Souls 3, Deus Ex MD and Fallout 4 look the same on Medium and Ultra, check Digital Foundry's comparisons if you don't believe me.

>resource hog shit like god rays and MSAA
If the game isn't coded like shit, neither of those eat any resources. If you're running Nvidia, there's MFAA to make MSAA more efficient

>buying budget cards
>"upgrading" from one budget card to the next
why are you even on pc? just get a console if you cant afford a decent card

I got the specs in pic related for 450€ half a year ago. Runs everything pretty good.
But with Microsofts anouncement of cheap vr I thought having a vr compatible pc might be nice.
Also I build myself a nice Battlestation this week.

So thats why I want to upgrade. Figured If I'd sell my current graphic card the upgrade would be cheap.

But I guess upgrading to a 1070 might make more sense.

We're living the transition from 1080p to 1440p as mainstream gaming, budget cards nowadays are aimed towards 1080p, while the expensive ones are a better fit for 1440p.

>while the expensive ones are a better fit for 1440p
Or 4k if you want to play it at 30fps, unless you buy SLI Titans or someshit

Yeah, but honestly, anything past 1080p is better served with a 120hz monitor at least, otherwise you are just cutting corners and won't benefit from the shit you just bought.

...

Still using a gtx760. I have turned up the overclock, kinda hoping it will die and I have an excuse to buy a 1060. I was playing w3 at 43 fps or so, turned it up to 48. Card is running hot but is hanging in there for almost a month now.

Jesus christ.

Like 30 idle and 60 on max.

Already have a ps4. > Also I need my Pc for emulators and programms for university.

That's like saying 720p is all you needed, when everyone else was getting 1080p.

BUY RX 480
STOP BUYING NVIDIA GARBAGE

Alright, enjoy your 1440p. 1080p is enough for me until i decide to do...fuck knows what that requires me to get a 1440p monitor

Sell old gpu I got cheap. Pay 100 bucks more for new gpu then I got for old one.

I have a 960 and I was thinking about upgrading since I recently bought a 144Hz monitor and plugging it into the display port makes it impossible to game with. Even Overwatch lags like crazy when it tries to load.
