No. It won't even output 4K resolution in most games, barely struggling to get 60fps at 1080p.
Yes.
Why the fuck would you buy a PS4 Pro without a 4K TV?
Think of all the screenshots you can take.
Of course it's worth it!
No. There is such a thing called SSAA that makes picture quality even better on 1080p than regular native 1080p.
Besides there are games that allow for the game to run with increased graphical fidelity at 1080p.
1080p TV have a Pro mode which add additional graphics effects, AA, supersampling, higher framerates, etc
Is this shit even worth getting if I don't care for the dead PSVR meme
Slim was on sale for half the price this week, I saw
Yes. It's worthless without a 4k display.
Is there a list of games that are supposed to have improvements for FHD tvs?
If you are seriously considering buying a marginal upgrade to a PS4 over a 4K TV that will actually let you watch a ton of cool shit in 4K you have some problems.
>4K resolution: same shit mud graphics and "cinematic" 24fps average as on old PS4
>1080p: better textures and lighting, bit better performance. Still not solid 60fps most of the time tho'
pick your poison. Or just get a PC like any smart person.
See
>all games won't even be in 1080p
>sweating 4k displays
How shit is 4K if moneymen like the doritospope don't even have one yet
>Earned.
He didn't "earn" shit, fuck him.
>Or just get a PC like any smart person.
Console
>put disc in
>play game
PC
>buy multiple parts that cost $1000 for a decent build
>have to manually put together all the components
>keyboard is uncomfortable and confusing since 95% of the buttons have no input on the game
>you have to replace all your parts every 1.5 years as the graphics cards become worse over time and run worse
>have to install a video game license rental service like Steam
>have to play $60 for recently released games but have no benefits as physical copy
>there are constant updates for games slowing down the chance of playing the game
>games constantly crash and run into compatibility problems
>Nvidia gimps their cards with Gameworks to make you buy their newer hardware
>try to play some indie games but most are uninspired rip offs of older SNES games I played
>try a early access to literally alpha test a game with barely any content and runs poorly
>can't let my friends borrow my games without jumping though huge obsoletes and even then we can't play each others games if the other is playing a different game at the time
>try to play older games from my childhood on N64 and PS2 emulators
>try to plug in my controller to use for more comfortablility but it requires multiple drivers and constantly rebind the controls every time I switch games

4K is a meme resolution being pushed by the powers that be.
They should've focused on creating a console that could render stuff properly rather than hop on 4k hype.
It won't be true 4k anyways, nothing's gonna run at 4k natively and you'll just be looking at upscaled shit. Like how 7th gen consoles were "1080p" but some games didn't even run at 720p.
However I suppose there will be plenty of games still running above 1080p but under 4k, so maybe it's worth it.
I have not yet bought a PSQuipple to date because paying for online is a pile of bullshit.
Going to buy a Slim though for KH3, Yakuza Zero, and probably Xenoverse 2 even though it'll be dead by then.
>Slim was on sale for half the price this week, I saw
This is how I got mine. 200 eurobox for a brand new PS4 Slim. Fully worth it.
There's a trophy emoticon before the word "earned", it was a joke that went over your head. It means "Trophy earned."
Can't believe it's been 3 years. Still not in a rush to own one. Probably pick one up next year and then PS5 comes out not too long after that.
>PS5 comes out not too long after that.
There is no PS5 planned.
They said they think generations are still a thing for them, that console generations are healthy for the industry. That PS4 Pro is not their next gen system.
And you believed them? The same company that wouldn't fart if their competitor didn't do it first?
>4K resolution: same shit mud graphics and "cinematic" 24fps average as on old PS4
>console generations are healthy for the industry
Higher definition only drives up production cost which makes AAA games unprofitable in the long run.
It will kill the industry and vidya will only happen on phones from then on.
Of course I do because if Scorpio takes off, they'll immediately release a PS5. That's how they are. Sup Forums can keep meme'ing about how no one wants an Xbox because muh weeboo games, but most people don't give a shit. MS has been picking up steam again and let's be honest, if they didn't dick around since the middle of last gen, they'd likely be neck and neck with PS4 easily.
You'll benefit from downsampling. Granted the PS4pro doesn't render in native 4k, but in the checkerboard 2x2k, but it will still look nicer downsampled to 1080p than native 1080p rendering does
That and games should have better or more stable framerates especially at 1080p
I'll give you the splitscreen co-op complaint, but the rest is either wrong, or you overstating the inconvenience of optional uses for your PC.
which games?
nice bullshot, now show in-game caps.
>Of course I do because if Scorpio takes off, they'll immediately release a PS5.
In Japan:
>people still buy PS3s.
>PS4 sales just overtook PS3.
>release a PS5!
Sony is not that retarded.
if I have an original ps4, is it worth upgrading for just one game?
>Is it worth upgrading
It's not an upgrade, it's an replacement. Just wait until your current PS4 reached the end of its life.
A new video card is a replacement. It doesn't stop you from selling the old one and using the new one which most people will view as an upgrade because you get some return on your old investment and don't just throw it away.
You really think they care what happens over there? Look at those numbers. It's like irrelevant compared to the rest of the world. If it doesn't start selling like 80k per week once XV hits, it's never gonna move the needle much this gen.
It'll also be like half a decade around the time it comes out so big deal.
This would actually look better if it was lower res and the prosessing power was used for lighting instead. Now it's a bare minimum ambient occlusion with single-color filter on top of it, like every single "great-looking" PS4 game ever.
There are gameplay demos out there and even some footage in 4k.
i am going to give you two response options:
>"I don't believe in the gameplay videos because the game could get downgraded like watch_dogs"
or
>"Oh man that actually looks pretty good, i guess PS4Pro isn't that shit afterall"
One won't make you sound like a complete dickhead and the other one will make you sound like a tinfoil wearing insecure retard.
>pic related. one of those "muddy" OGPS4 games you talked about
all I want is FFXV, and the rest of the games I care about are shitty ones like Digimon and Persona and I have no idea if they'll bother making those games use the extra upgrade in the pro.
>all I want is FFXV
mkay, I don't care about FF.
The game has dynamic global illumination.
>bare minimum AO
This is just wrong m8.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
For Honour
Deus Ex MD
Ass Effect Andromeda
There are more, I just can't remember
FFXV is confirmed to be Pro enhanced. It will look really nice at a constant 1080p whereas the regular PS4 will be dynamically scaling the resolution between 800p and 1080p
even if I lack a 4K tv?
>>"Oh man that actually looks pretty good, i guess PS4Pro isn't that shit afterall"
are you a shill?
Who the hell, especially on Sup Forums, would speak like that?
You also seem to think that common scepticism is a bad thing, when the opposite is true. By the way, I'm not the user that called the games "muddy"; just a sceptical guy since Sony has grown a little notorious for bullshots and misleading trailers.
Yes, they haven't even confirmed 4K for FFXV, and not all games will support 4k or checkerboard 4k even. But all pro-enhanced games are mandated to run at at least 1080p, which the standard PS4 version of FFXV will not do since it dips as low as 800p to help maintain the framerate.
When was the last time Sony did that?
If you say 10 years ago something is wrong with you.
>creating an arbitrary rule in a poor attempt to disprove me
I mean shit even E3 2016 was fishy as fuck, some "gameplay" segments in there ended with a title screen of the game, as if a pre-scripted trailer rather than genuine gameplay; of course, those games still aren't out yet so only time can tell their legitimacy. I with I could post evidence to support my case, but I simply don't care enough to research it nor do I feel any need to prove something to you as I only wished to share my personal opinion and not spread information to others.
>NVIDIA gumping meme
>thinking the Scorpio and Pro aren't that as well

Put game in
Download sixteen patches on day one from an objectively slower network
Start to play
Controller is dead and laggy because wireless is the shirts
Game runs at 25-30 fps max
Tons of DLC advertisement on the main menu
But your whole point is that scepticism is good because people have gotten burned before.
But its like saying "i had a friend once and it turned out he was a thief, so now i will suspect all of my friends for being thiefs"
Show me when Sony did this last and i will at least acknowledge your scepticism to be healthy, atleast until the game comes out and does what the rest of the Sony games have done.
Games will have different settings
There will be
>4K
>1080p w/ enhanced visuals & Framerate
what about games worth playing? Cause that list of garbage is really not selling it.
>Put game in
>Download sixteen patches on day one from an objectively slower network
You can start playing without downloading those patches.
so it's worth spending $400 on somewhat graphical upgrades for some games you think?
Emphasis on smart person.
>i had a friend once and it turned out he was a thief, so now i will suspect all of my friends for being thiefs
poor choice of analogy, as here it's not a different "friend", is the same "friend". I do find it interesting that you chose such an analogy where a fucking corporation would take the position of being a "friend".
> your scepticism to be healthy
Do you hear yourself?
You're implying scepticism itself is somehow an unhealthy trait.
>shitty multiplats that will still look better on 4 year old PCs
Can I AT LEAST play BB at anything but unstable sub 30?
you better buy yourself an good air conditioner before the TV cause that shit is confirmed to overheat now.
In most of cases it probably won't improve framerate to 60 fps. Probably the CPU will be the bottleneck.
Considering that Skyrim is supposed to be native 4k on Pro, original PS4 should be able to run it 1080p 60 fps when it comes to GPU power alone.
I hope developers start using the pro for significant upgrades to games and making multiplayer games at 60 fps
I doubt it though and this might just be a meme console
PC

>same friend
So when did Sony do that then?
>corporation as being a friend
that wasn't the point. the point was that some entity evokes a reason to be sceptical towards it. Stop putting words into my mouth.
>You're implying scepticism itself is somehow an unhealthy trait.
It truely is. I have dealt with mentally ill people who are so goddamn sceptical of the world and people that their life is visibly shit because of it.
They have sound arguements as to why they would be but at the same time its at a cost of their own shit.
>thinking a $400 dollar machine can output real 4k
No.
But I'll be getting it once it's confirm FFXV get better performance on it. Then I'll buy it again once it's release on PC because it's fucking FFXV. 10 years of waiting for that shit. I'll eat shit even if it's shit.
>no source
okay keep shitposting
who /wasabi mango/ here?
>Try to launch game
>Game requires day 1 patch
Which games do that?
Sony said games have to run on similar target FPS in multiplayer games on both variants of console.
Almost every game I've played on my XB1 or PS4 required a day one patch, usually somewhere from 1-10GB.
Halo: Master Chief Collection stick out as requiring a 20GB patch because it shipped unfinished.
Considering that PS4 struggles with 1080p and Pro has double GPU boost, it should run games on similar performance level on 1440p or 1800p at very best.
Sony will go back on that when the scorpio shows halo or something at 60fps
It's dumb anyways if you have good internet and a high refresh rate monitor you have a advantage online anways
this bait tastes like shit
>Patch to unlock multiplayer
What's the problem? You can play offline just fine.
>still no source
continue with the shitposting
Who even bothers saving this copypasta? I don't understand it.
Every game starting from the release of the thing is supposed to have some sort of increase according to the leaked documentation. There's a small list of older games getting patches, mainly first party.
b-bait....
Check Digital Foundry. They made a video on "what if we run games on console settings in higher resolutions on PS4 Neo PC hardware equivalent". Only TW3 managed to run as well as on 1080p on 1800p, while the other had close performance on 1440p.
>still unable to post a source whatsoever
come on pal, you can do it so long as it actually exists
oh no wait I forgot you're just shitposting, bravo!
Also Killing Floor 2, which is really well optimized on PC, on PS4 Pro runs 1800p 40-50 fps with drops to 30. Once again, check Digital Foundry.
If you can't Google "Digital Foundry" then sorry, but you're retarded. Won't spoonfeed you anymore than that. I already gave you more than enough info.
>look ma I'm shitposting on the internet!
>SHITPOSTSHITPOSTSHITPOSTSHITPOST
I guess it was too good for there to actually be concrete evidence that shows that the Sony Playstation 4 Pro console cannot play video games at 4K resolutions at 60fps. Poor shitposter-kun couldn't do anything more than waste valuable replies in the thread after all...
I mean, just look at it!
youtube.com
nigger, if my 1080 can't run modern games at 4k 60fps that piece of garbage certainly can't.
there's a reason that thing has an upscaler
>b-but PC!
are you so desperate to shitpost that you are posting from your phone's data network now?
what?
If they're actually aiming for that, it's completely misguided.
They should focus on getting the games running properly in normal HD
Upgrading to a 2016 4k tv is worth it even with 1080p content.
It looks fucking great.
though i did pay €2000 for it
Why would it be able to play 4k properly when top of the range computers can't?
All it is is a PC with sony's OS installed to rip you off, it isn't using some magic technology.
Reminder the normal ps4 was apparently 1080p.
DELETE THIS
>i can't remember
How big is the TV?
fuck off already. true dynamic global illumination is in quantum breake. days gone looks like shit.
lul. Nothing about quantum break was true or even dynamic.
Quantum break didn't have a dynamic day night cycle for example. Most was prebaked.
>unironically paying for a playstation and all of its gimmicks
unless you like weeb games a whole lot kys
>playing fps games with a controlled on a tv
only games u can properly play are turn based card games where u dont need the precision and input lag wont fuck u up
No. I am buying a pro and plan to use it on a 1440P monitor.
I want it for the improved everything over the normal PS4.
>Necessary
It won't even meet the minimum requirements.
Ooh! Can I add to the shitty pasta?

There are fucking games that I couldn't play on my Ps3 because the devs just fucking dropped them. Shitty Modern Warfare comes to mind.
