How often do you revisit games that you enjoyed ?

I started to think that I was growing out of vidya, but I now realize that it is just because lots of recent games are shit

I revisit constantly, I tend to enjoy older game like 15/1 compared to newer games. And holidays are a big thing too, October comes around I play horror games. December comes around I tend to play through games like mafia 2, with those winter settings it's so comfy. They are way better at setting a scene than newer games

same
time to time i play Contra: alien wars, cant believe we achieved perfection on videogames so long ago, and everything went downhill from there.

Almost constantly.

Games like Zelda:OoT, Silent Hill 1 and 2, original Doom games, etc, I replay almost annually. Just now I replayed RE2 four times in a row for good old time's sake, and it was even better experience than I recalled.

And yeah, especially the AAA side of the games industry has become absolutely horrible in the past decade. One reason I so often end up playing either bigger mods, or few of those "AA" games, like everything by Croteam.

i've played every gen of pokemon a couple dozen times each, if that counts.

Been playing RE4 since i 100% Dead Space 1-2. Man, RE4 is a fucking blast to play.

I play Skyrim at least once a week

I used to never play the same game or watch the same movie twice, but recently I've started to pick up old stuff again

Nah thats just nostalgia man.

Play some other older games you didn't grow up with you'll see its all shit.

Unfortunately once I feel I've seen everything there is to see I have no interest in replaying a game regardless of how much time passes or how much I liked it. Getting better at combat/trying new builds/making different choices doesn't do it for me, I need fresh areas to explore.

this. I dont really buy newer games because they're samey and come out yearly.

I just stick to ones I already have

>Play some other older games you didn't grow up with you'll see its all shit
not OP, but I've been doing just that for the past few years, be it via emulation or hunting down actual used copies of things from the internet, and I've more often than not ended up finding some brand new all time favorite games.

System Shock 2, Parasite Eve, Banjo-Kazooie, BLOOD... all games I didn't get to play as a kid, only just now got to try for the first time. And boy, had I been missing out, I tell ya!

"Nostalgia" is a literal meme. There's often a good reason why some older games are so beloved and praised.

Last year I played System Shock 2 for the first time, but my one buddy and I co-op everything we possibly can. SS2 is so god damn fun if you co-op it with a really good friend.

only if they are short and sweet. I play deus ex every year

sounds like the quickest way to ruin all the atmosphere and tension the game had to me.

MGS1 I found to be surprisingly playable in the sense that it still feels pretty modern to play in my opinion. Usually I have to get around clunky controls.

There are more good games from history than being made this year. That's not a meme, and it's certainly not a hard pill to swallow.

I don't get people who claim MGS1 would be hard to play. It's literally like a top-down 2D shooter, with polygonal graphics. I find MGS2 far harder to go back to, with all those pressure-sensitive actions and borderline survival-horrorish camera angles in narrow corridors.

>nostalgia is a meme

Nostalgia is a thing, it's just that now you can pick the good games out of the "old games" library and ignore the rest. There was still a lot of garbage released constantly back then. Triple A games were still good because their concepts hadn't been overly exploited yet.

The only innovative ideas now come mostly from indie devs, which really puts a limit on how far they can exploit these ideas. If you ignore the "hipster" and "meme games" tags attributed to that scene, there's a lot of good stuff to find in indie games.

I got RE4 yesterday, and man, this game has aged really well. It's still just as fun and beautiful as before.

While I'm not saying it isn't nostalgia, a nostalgiafag can still enjoy old games from that time period they never played because it still brings nostalgia.

I personally love older games and I still enjoy playing them for the first time today substantially more than new games.
