>The Last Guardian
I meant mascot platformers.
>A Hat In Time
kek no. that shit looks like garbage
>Psychonauts 2
>Not going to be some cheap, half-finished garbage Tim shits out now that he's not bound to a big-name publisher
I Wish I could have some of your optimism user.
It looks fine.
Will fan games ever evolve beyond pixel shit?
Will there ever be a Banjo-Kazooie fan game?
>Mario autism world
>notable
This is the future people chose with their wallets
New Mario on the way
>3D Mario shit the bed
>Ratchet and Clank is still being made for whatever reason
>people claiming for fucking Crash of all things
This is not the future I wanted.
What do you think that first game is, user?
I used to like doublefine but they proved their critics right over and over.
Who knew Kotick's opinion could be trusted.
And they're all shit.
There's a reason why 3D platfirbers aren't made anymore.
>people actually think they'll make money off psychonauts.
There's a sucker born every minute and they're all keeping Double Fine afloat
>they're all shit
2 aren't even out yet and you probably haven't even played the other ones
Today, I will remind them
ReCore kinda counts, too.
A Hat in Time will come out when Half-Life 3 comes out
i'm so upset about this, that i'm actually saving money for the PSVR just in case i really, REALLY find myself wanting to play the Psychonauts spinoff game
and it's not only 3D platformers that are lacking, 2D is just as bad, if not worse, seeing as 90 percent of the garbage spewed out of itch.io is "procedurally generated" and "metroidvania"
Whats wrong with ratchet and clank?
I fuckin love banjo, but tooie was not in the same league imo. The levels were so linear yet maze-like, and all the back tracking sucked.
>>people claiming for fucking Crash of all things
What? What's wrong with that?
>tfw haven't played a particular platformer for X years and have forgotten what all the levels are like
Is there any comfier genre for replay value?
>that shit looks like garbage
I played the beta and A Hat In Time is fucking amazing desu. While playing it I genuinely felt a deep joy I hadn't felt since my childhood. Too bad it'll probably never be finished.
who cares? 3d platformers were really stagnant at one point. in fact a couple of those don't really do anything innovative or interesting either. hopefully 2d platformers go the way of 3d platformers soon.
Knowing sony, they'll probably fuck up crash by incorporating their shitty modern game design philosophy
I really wish Nuts and Bolts wasn't a Banjo game. It's really fun and interesting game ruined by branding it as an old classic rather then give it new characters. I think people would've adored it if it was Beth the badger and her hummingbird mechanic friend Enrique.
Guess I'll be avoiding Yooka Laylee then
What's wrong with episode VII?
so many things
worst movie i watched last year
I wish they made 3D sonic games still that incorporated designs from the 90s, games like sonic adventure 1, heroes, and unleashed. All we get is cheap shitty 2D games now
dull uninspired retread of stuff we've already seen.
You clearly don't watch a lot of movies.
ah yeah, i didnt realise the problem with those games was the designs
are you stupid?
speak for yourself, I love those games. Unleashed is 8 years old and i still havent explored enough of the game to get every collectible despite that being my go to 360 3D platformer
Hey now, the next shovel knight campaign should be out soon.
3D platformers were never really that fun to begin with because the human eye isn't good at measuring depth in 3D space. This means that developers either needed to stress exploration/collecting over platforming (SM64 and clones), adding in a mechanic that forgives misfired jumps (FLUDD, Galaxy spin jump), or making the levels linear and almost 2D (SM3DW).
It isn't a coincidence that New Super Mario Bros has sold more than the 3D platformers. It's because the platformer was conceived in 2D, was fun in 2D, and was never really meant to be taken into the 3rd dimension. The whole 3D collectathon genre was just a marketing gimmick by nintendo to promote the N64, and we need to let it die as a historical artifact of gaming.
It is though, and there's nothing your manchild self can do about it.
