I (casual) raided in vanilla, Wrath and most recently WoD. He's full of shit because my vanilla raiding guild definitely had the highest number of 'normies.' The average age from memory was probably 25 max.
The majority of my WoD guild were literally NEET or middleaged and/or parents who did nothing but play WoW in their leisure time. Average age had to be around 30. Pretty much all the normies quit after the WotLK spike, the hardcore stayed on.
