>siliconera.com/2016/11/01/dragon-quest-xi-will-share-latest-december-29-series-30th-anniversary-program/
>During the program, they’ll take us to to the development studio to show us the latest on the upcoming PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo 3DS title, Dragon Quest XI.

That's on Nintendo side. As in spec, price, ect. Actual games is up to the developer/publisher.

It's about fucking time
I hope your party has set skills to choose from like DQ8 instead of a class system

Ages away, hoping for some good news.
>yfw it's a presentation saying how stupid gaijin pigs are for not getting DQXI

>youtube.com/watch?v=FBaE0mNexTs
No way it will be able to run like this on Switch.

I haven't followed DQ since the disappointment that was IX.

What do we know about the game so far? Does it have proper characters for your team or another shallow character creator? It's NOT another fucking MMO, isn't it?

they have said it was going to be a singleplayer game, and they are going back to their roots. It might features some online multiplayer but it won't be an MMO like X.

>Tfw it's 3ds version for the switch youtube.com/watch?v=CuGcpSCkyfk

is that why Bethesda declined to comment on Skyrim on Switch even though it is shown in the fucking Switch trailer ?

everyone signed a DNA until next year, no fucking detail

so much fucking detail

based

>What do we know about the game so far?

>Dragon Quest XI's gameplay varies on the console you play. In the 3DS version, there are two modes that you can toggle between while playing. One version of the gameplay is traditional to the early games of the Dragon Quest series where it is 2D, while the other is that of IX gameplay with a slight mix of the old style of gameplay. The PS4 version is similar to that of X gameplay, where it is more fluid than it would be on a handheld console, due to restrictiveness of quality on handheld consoles.

>While on the 3DS version, the game can switch between the traditional old gameplay or the gameplay similar to IX.

guess what version NX is going to be

hint: its not the console version

The 3DS version is literally the same game as the PS4 version but with graphics similar to the DQ7 remake
The Switch will likely be somewhere inbetween the PS4 and 3DS versions

Only one playable character?

>he thinks it's coming to the west

lol

This would really get me going actually

siliconera.com/2016/10/23/square-enix-says-committed-bringing-dragon-quest-titles-west/
>Square Enix Says They Are “Committed” To Bringing More Dragon Quest Titles To The West

>Switch is also confirmed.

What.

If the Switch sells well, I wouldn't doubt a Switch version though

We won't get it. They'll continue to hash out 3DS and iphone/android apps of all the older games IX and lower.

They've already said fuck you for X being translated so anything past that is a no go. Enjoy the dinky spin-offs that sell for crap.

Switch versions of Dragon Quest X and XI were recently officially confirmed.

Oh, I haven't heard about that.

Is X any good?

actually back when dq 11 was announced and they showcased the ps4 version, they also said that the nx version will be similar to the ps4 version

People said it plays a lot like FF11. I never played FF11 so I wouldn't know. But lots of videos I've seen of DQX makes it look fun.
I don't think they said that. I think they said that there was plans for the NX version. But didn't say anything outside that since Nintendo put the hush hush on any NX news until they unveiled the Switch. What would be nice is if the portable mode is more like the 3DS and TV mode is more like PS4.

nah,i want ps4 graphics while in handheld mode
its why im planning on getting a switch in the first place,to play console quality games on the go

Fucking finally.

>to play console quality games on the go
And it will fail. That's how every system that goes that way fails. Game Gear was meant to be like that and failed, PSP was meant to be like that and failed, Vita was meant to be like that and failed. Nintendo knows how to make a handheld and the best way to do that is to NOT make it a portable console.

Game Gear failed because it was a battery hogging piece of shit with no games
PSP failed less so because it still got some great games, it just had a huge piracy problem.

For the past 25 years people tried to make a console like experience on a handheld and every time the system failed. Nintendo most likely knows this and has plans based on what they know about the handheld market.

Who gives a shit when they aren't going to release it or any of the other Dragon Quest games in the West?

Perhaps Nintendo is gambling on the fact that they can potentially double their software output for the Switch now that they're down to a single hardware platform. If the Switch gains momentum, it could end up attracting the same devs who supported the Vita and 3DS, in addition to ports of AAA console games.

tegra have been really good now
it was not possible to have console quality games on the go in the past because of technology constraints
but not tegra x2 is easily able to do that, especially if its at 720p

>PSP failed less so because it still got some great games, it just had a huge piracy problem.
Piracy was one of the only things that kept the PSP alive.

The PSP flopped otherwise because Sony tried to force the UMD as a multimedia format on a device that used one of Sony's many proprietary memory card formats. Sony's constant M.O. is to try to force some bullshit standard that's far more expensive than the dominant one with no benefits over it, and they're the only ones to use that bullshit standard.

I've never played a DQ game before, are any of them worth picking up to play?
And is it like Final Fantasy where they don't really have much connection between each game?

Reminder that the best version will be the PS4 version.

It'd be neat if it was the ps4 version when docked and the 3ds version when portable.

nope it will be switch version cause it will be the same as ps4 version while also being portable

again no,i want ps4 quality while on the go

The first part is 100% correct to me. Nintendo has always split themselves between home console and handheld. So them only having one works out great for them. And Nintendo has always had people jumping into their packet on the handheld side. As for AAA I doubt it since the system looks to be slightly above a PS3/Wii U level of tech. And AAA games are getting more and more awful on just the home console.
Do wonder if they are using Tegra or Tegra X2. I'm guessing Tegra for cost cutting measure. Just wondering what the battery life of the system is.

>nope it will be switch version cause it will be the same as ps4 version while also being portable
Nope the switch has even worse hardware than the xbone. PS4 version best version.

PSP sold really well though

switch can run it while 720p in handheld mode
its got tegra x2 or some modern custom tegra

And? You just confirmed that the PS4 version is the best version.

ps4 is a low powered pc which is not even portable

>I've never played a DQ game before, are any of them worth picking up to play?
DQ8 is the best so far.
